Product Review: Interactive Sorting Hat

At £60 this replica of the famous Hogwarts Sorting Hat sits in the middle of our price range.  Certainly more than 'pocket money' but the quality and functionality makes it worth that little bit more.

There are loads of ways to be sorted into your Hogwarts house.  Most people have gone through Pottermore's online test, or indeed one of thousands out there on the internet.  A lot of people, including us, have used other sorting products and it's often easy to figure out a pattern so you can twist the results to get the ones you want.  Not so with this Sorting Hat - it really feels like it's thinking about it each time it sorts.  This viewpoint has been secured by the fact it sorted Duncan and I into our correct houses first time (Gryffindor and Hufflepuff respectively).

There are squeezie pads (I can't think of a better name than this!) in the tassels of the Sorting Hat that move the mouth and tip of the hat, so that with some practice you can really give the illusion that the hat is talking.

It's a little small when actually being put on your head, but then I should probably remember it's meant to sort 1st years at Hogwarts, not 30-somethings who are upset they didn't get their letter!

We have one on our display, and are happy to sort customers (and show you the House you've been sorted into's robes, socks, ties, journals, scarves, hats, gloves etc) - so please do ask if you'd like to be sorted if you're ever in store with us!

All in all, this is a high quality replica, that will look great as part of any Harry Potter home display, but just as good on it's own on a bookcase or shelf, with the randomised sorting giving a great illusion that it's really thinking about which House to put you in.

So grab one and get yourself, your friends and your family sorted.
