Re-Watching Lord of the Rings
I re-watched The Fellowship of the Ring this weekend (weekend being Monday and Tuesday for Duncan and I). I can confirm it is made epically better by being immersed with some of the Lord of the Rings product we have in store.
As a fan of the films (and then the books, yes I know that’s the wrong way around), I have purchased most of the LotR product that comes into store. I’m sure I could bring some stock home to use whilst watching the films, but let’s be honest, I want it anyway, so I bought it.
As I sad down, I popped on my Leaf of Lorien broach (from the Noble Collection) so I could feel part of the fellowship, and as I went to fill up my Prancing Pony mug I walked past my Bag End Key Holder (also Noble Collection) which was the perfect match up to the start of the film.
I absolutely felt like a Hobbit with the snacks and drink I had whilst watching – I’ll admit it wasn’t the healthiest evening I’ve ever had.
Weirdly I don’t own a ‘One Ring’ replica (which is odd as we have two versions available at the shop, both by The Noble Collection), which felt like I was missing a key thing to have – maybe I’ll pick one up this week?
The key moment, was obviously, as the Fellowship ran towards the bridge of Khazad Dum. I looked over at my wall with Glamdring and Gandalf’s staff on display. It only took me a moment to decided my next steps. We’ve had some decorating done recently, so I had a nice empty space in the front room. And it was as epic as I wanted it to be. I shouted “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!” along side Ian McKellen, and I loved it. As good as they look on the wall, using them for this was excellent. Years after seeing this moment in the cinema, finally getting to do it, whilst holding a replica of Gandalf’s staff and sword (both, again, from the Noble Collection) was one of those moment I’ve been waiting for, that I didn’t know I needed.
