A Dawnstone Chronicle

In the luminous heart of Dawnstone, legends whispered of an artifact of unparalleled might, the Stone of Corborite, commonly referred to as the Dawnstone. Touched by the bane of the Beast, it was a relic infused with overwhelming malevolence.

Three princes, triplets by birthright—Kuthrakis, Zanthikar, and Azrathik—were ensnared by the allure of the Dawnstone's tales. Venturing forth, they sought to harness its power, only to return with an ominous shadow cast over their souls, their inner beings transformed and tainted.

Yet it was not the stone alone that played a role in their corruption. Chortos, a figure of cunning and darkness, saw potential in the princes and their quest. He fanned the flames of their ambition, watching as their desires led them deeper into darkness.

Their elder sibling, Kazik the King, observed their enhanced powers with envy. Desperate to grasp such strength for himself, he was drawn into a wicked trap woven by Chortos. Guided by the scheming puppeteer, the brothers converged at the site where the Stone of Corborite lay to find their elder sibling begging for his life to be spared.

Chortos gave the brothers three a choice Power or their Brother.

So their journey to the path of corruption started with their first sin of fratricide.

This act lead to a great sundering—an event so cataclysmic that it shook Dawnstone's foundations. In its aftermath, each prince emerged wielding a shard of the now fragmented Dawnstone, save for Kazik whose body and soul vanished into the breaking of the Stone of Corborite.

Kuthrakis, the once-noble became a Necromancer, now swayed the undead at his will. His shard, linked deeply to the Stone of Corubis, found its way to the Fey Plane of Light. But when innocent Larissa chanced upon it, the shard's malevolence consumed him, leading to a devastating spree before Larissa disappeared into the shadows.

Zanthikar, initially a Cleric, was twisted into the formidable Sorcerer of Chortos. His proficiency in summoning creatures from abyssal depths became legendary, yet also dreadfully mysterious, as Chortos closely guarded the secrets of his capabilities.

The trailblazing Astral Mancer, Azrathik, used the astral plane's energies to meld with the Prime Material, causing cataclysmic events. Yet, beneath the veneer of his newfound power, lay Chortos' insidious influence.

The Dawnstone's genesis was prophesized by the old gods, who, foreseeing the rise of compassionate law and order, crafted it as a safeguard. Made of Corborite, it encapsulated the zenith of their destructive art. It birthed the ominous Black Sand, and it was Kuthrakis who, under Chortos' guidance, cleaved the stone into its fragmented state with the full sacrifice of Kazik.

These shards, while seeming like unremarkable black glass, were enigmatic, evading all supernatural gaze. Their true horror lay in their capacity to corrupt all cast and summoned magics, turning them to the whims of their bearers.

The triplets, ensnared by Chortos' master plan, bound their very essence to these shards in their dark quest for eternal life. But, in the end, they were but pieces on the grand chessboard of Chortos' ambitions, a testament to the lengths one would go to when consumed by power's intoxicating allure.
