The tall, pale skinned figure was dressed in immaculate and impressive robes. Power eddied and flowed around them, ethereal tendrils like lazy floating snakes would venture out and then suddenly spark into hues across the spectrum when they contacted with the real.
A large tome hung in the air before them. The pages turning by an unseen force as they idly flicked a long slender finger in the air, the hand to which it belonged bedecked with grandiose rings that might make a powerful Djinn jealous. The pages stopped turning and the air within the chamber was silent but for the occasional crackle as one of the lazy tendrils exploded in a shower of sparks. The being’s brow was knitted with concentration as they studied the open pages of the tome. Uttering arcane whispers that caused sigils to burst brightly into being around them as they incanted parts of the text seemingly under their breath. Suddenly the book slammed shut in answer to a simple click of their fingers, but the sound it made was like a giant stone slab crashing closed, rather than leather and vellum. Then with a look of purpose firmly etched upon their face they looked up and turned to face a giant silver edged rounded mirror. Looking firmly at their reflection the voice spoke aloud “Are you ready?” The reflection looked back at the figure, locking it with a steely gaze and then with more than a hint of irritation in its voice snapped, “Of course I am!” The robed figure smiled. The reflection rolled its eyes. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
