Huge thanks to Tim today. It's always tough when you lose a couple of monsters at the last minute, and he really saved the day by stepping in and portraying the ambience of Crothos just perfectly along with Cate. It went from being a stressful day to being a pleasure to run.
And thanks to the whole party too, for buying into an experiment that continues to be a lot of fun to referee. I hope you all had a great time. Stuart |

One of the most pleasurable monstering experiences I've had.
The trainee Militia was probably my favourite scene. Thanks to "Team Maggs" for the opportunity to be a part of Atheron and to a great player party who were basically superb. Tim. (Ian.... watch out for that contraband!) |

Trainee Officer Gem was brilliant.
The party's dogged determination to avoid as much conflict as possible was pretty impressive. (my initial faith in our ability to make it through without screwing up may have been demonstrated by my decision to be there in disguise as Phineas Salt) As the city of Crothos was described to us I couldn't help but keep thinking "Are we in Ba-Sing-Se?" Thanks to Stuart, Cate, Tim and the party for a thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyable day. Am loving Atheron and the very much old skool feel of the dungeon. Likewise massive thanks from me to Stuart, Cate and Tim for a fantastic day - the feeling that one wrong word could make things not only difficult for us on the day but might have lasting consequences for any future visits to Crothos made for a fun, tense atmosphere and I think the party were permanently on their toes. it was also v nice to be able to pursue a player lead goal and have everything woven toegether so seamlessly.
Was a great party too - so much fun and having to be so careful with our resources. Thank you as ever to Team Maggs for creating the sandbox and letting us play in it, thank you to Tim for helping to bring it so vividly to life and for a great party for being so fun to play with. Giles. |

Just to add my thanks to Stuart, Cate and Tim for another amazing adventure.
I echo Giles' comment, just one wrong move/word and Crothos would have had our guts for garters! I do hope Officer Gem passes her training: she would be a welcome addition to the Crothos City Watch. And welcome "Antonia", a much needed addition to our merry fellowship (which still needs a name...) Till next time. It was an excellent day, thank you Stuart, Cate and Tim!
For me the strongest part is the feeling that every single passing encounter is likely interlinked to other parts of the world and how it plays out can have consequences* not just in this dungeon but for those in the future. A special note of thanks also to all involved for being able to pursue a personal character goal like that. When I first read the background book the idea of playing a character that wanted to learn to work iron and steel jumped out of the page at me and its awesome to be able to go and do just that on dungeon. Julian * with the odd exception - I think we were probably on solid ground to kill a couple of shades. I even considered if we could talk our way past them too, but the shades in the previous room said there was no reasoning with them. -------------------- Embrace your inner munchkin
