2023 Changes Options

Hi all,

Separate to the ongoing conversations to ISP and Crew Rewards, we wanted to update you with some changes that are coming into effect. Ironically, one of these is about one of the crew rewards, but please rest assured that this was discussed and decided before any of the discussion threads started.

As such, please be aware of the following changes:

Monster Points to Grulls
We agree that the amount of Grulls flooding the economy is too high and as such we have put the below in place:
From the 21st of January 2023, the monster point to Grull ratio will become 1 MP to 50 Grulls. And you can only transfer MPs to Grulls on a day you are Crewing (Reffing, A-Reffing, Monstering).
From 1st of April 2023 it will no longer be possible to convert MPs to Grulls.

Face Paint
Almost everyone is aware of the sensitivity around face paint, and the club has to move with the times. Also, unless done with extreme detail and care, full face make up does look like someone has just sponged red snazz on their face, rather than they have skin made of fire. As such, we have put the below in place:
From this weekend, 21st of Jan 2023 all elven (and similar full or half coverage races) becomes as per Athfanal. Swirls of the colour of the associated element if elven, or clear tribal markings for orcs, trolls etc. This also gives people a level of creativity with their make up.

Accents
In a similar vein to face paint, moving with the times etc, we are removing compulsory accents for all characters from 21st of Jan 2023. Specifically characters from Amlas, Ishma, and the Baronies, no longer are required to have 'an appropriate accent'. Of course, all characters are welcome to do an accent, but as before, if anyone is deemed to be being offensive with their accent, they will be asked to stop.

Drawing on the Caves
For clarity's sake, please do not use chalk to draw on any of the floors or walls of the caves. If a miracle requires lines etc to be drawn, please either draw with your finger, wand or similar (eg Prot) or with runes placed on paper or other appropriate items.

Ref Status
We have reviewed the current ref status and are putting the following steps in place to ensure the quality of events going forward. If someone is already a referee, they aren't required to fulfil this and we appreciate some referee's haven't done the below, but in order for us to improve the standard we need to start somewhere, and making existing referees who are running adventures go through these steps feels counter productive.

From 21st of January In order to become a referee at Labyrinthe, you must send an email to bookings to start the process and then:
A-Ref for 6 months or 12 dungeons, which ever is greater. We feel that a wide variety of experience with different refs is necessary.
Submit 3 dungeons for marking. This can be done during the above time frame, and allows other refs and the CMT to give feedback on your writing and check for consistency.
Run a dungeon with an approved Ref as your A-Ref. This is to be done after the 6 months/12 dungeons. A final check, as it were that you are prepared for the players and monsters you are to have under your control!

Ref Forum - (with thanks to Richard Craig for the suggestion)
Anyone who is a referee at Labyrinthe will have access to the Ref Forum. This is a place to seek advice, discuss encounters and hopefully bring a level of consistency between referees.
We understand the call for a 'monster compendium' or similar, and agree there would be consistency from this but feel that this wouldn't bring the diversity of encounters that is one of Labyrinthe's strengths. As such, we're happy for refs to share encounters but aren't putting an official 'monster compendium.'
