Greeting to you all,
I took a hire close to the Dark Forest this Starsday just gone and amongst the hired group was a strange 'man' named Bernie. This man said he was a farmer who had died and now knew he was supposed to be a mercenary but wasn't sure what he career was. Quite a ludicrous story but you get all sorts nowadays taking hires. Bernie didn't really do a lot most of the day bar tell stories of his supposed pig farm. He avoided combat unless pressed, and didn't other offer anything when dealing with wardings or other tasks either. Towards the end of the hire, when we had confronted the Coven of Witches behind the missing peons, he cowardly killed two of the party. I heard fighting and then saw Bernie running towards me. Given he had done a lot of running from things that day, it wasn't a surprising sight and he had ran passed several others of the group before he attacked me. This appeared to be a calculated attack and believe it was due to my faith in the Lady of the Stars. He should a far greater level of skill when attacking me than he had the whole day so whatever he actually was knew how to use a sword. I know its unlikely that this coward will use the same name, guise or tactic again but be warned this creature is out there. Stay safe, Frostfang of the Frozen Tiger. |

I am sorry to hear word of this murder, Frostfang. There are those who will hide in the shadows, looking for an oppertunity to slay those our faith, and as such we should stay ever vigilant. I would advisde, wherever possible, travelling with brothers or sisters of our faith, and keeping wounds healed up when in danger. You never know when an assassin is ready to strike. I spend my weeks scribing scrolls of healing, and am happy to provide these to any followers of the Lady likely to be taking on dangerous work. May Starlight guide you all! Reast The Priest |

More and more I find that trusting those dark of heart only ends one way. You can't give them a chance even once.
I've learned a lot of great teachings from Slushy and Effix, who have time and time again be shown to be right in their actions. We often meet up and discuss the best ways to obliterate evil doers if you ever wanted to stop by for tea. In Starlight Eric Flakey -------------------- Stevie Harper

Eric & Reast,
Thank you both for your wise words and I will take them onboard the next time I venture out. This creature seemed able to deceive powers of the mind as well so I was unsure of his intent or if he was of darken heart. He seemed fairly jolly before his cowardly attacks but I am now most mistrusting of any strangers not of the faith. In Starlight Frostfang |

I was borrowin' a book from the Cathedral Library yesterday and I saw Zhara's face fall - I was keepin' an eye on her in case she caught me bowworin' the book. Anyhow, she looked real sad, and so I asked what was up. She said one of the faithful had died, so started casting some Comminication prayers to find out what's what.
His name is Odiar. He's a demon from Amlas. But now lives in Deci. He absolutely hates without any exception anyone from Amlas and anyone who follows The Lady. We should job the evil bastard. We shouldn't just go about killin' all the evil bastards, that way we can't redeem anyone. But we should be careful, especially when there's people about that will apparently kill you because you follow the Lady of the Stars and Skies, an' that's it. I'm bringin' a picture of him with me when we go out tomorrow. In case we come across 'im. Aurelious Gothiel -------------------- edd@labyrinthe.co.uk

So sorry to hear that happen to you my friend.
I didn’t t’ink mercenaries killed mercenaries any more? I thought that stopped like a decade ago. Was he fresh out of junior mercenaries maybe? Or some sort of strange mental complex? Tedious folk eh. Probably wasn’t cuddled enough by his ma or pa as a child. You are right. He’ll be someone else next time - but thank you for letting us know. Deception is often afoot, but if you’re not sure, just chuck evil spirits away and see what happens. If it works, and they have grey mind… then well. You’ll know something is wrong. Come see me for some Lucky Heather before you travel off next time and I’ll keep an eye on you. Bradley Baker Champion of Tulkas Disciple of Ulmo Bradley’s Booters Gobbal Captain (Retired) |

I am sorry to have caused Zhara any pain/sadness but i'm very grateful for this information as it could help prevent further attacks/slaying of our faith.
Unfortunately, by the time I returned to the land of the living, the foul creature had fled and the trail was cold. Hopefully, I get opportunity to cross paths with this demon again as he definitely needs jobbing. Frostfang. Greeting Bradley,
It seems slaying of mercenaries on hires does still happen though it is rare. The act this demon put on suggested it was indeed junior/new to mercenary hires and it was often seen running from zombies & such like and only fought if it had to. It definitely had a cowardly streak about it and no doubt fled Amlas with trousers stained both yellow and brown. It does not surprise me this creature now lives in Deci. I will indeed visit you before I next time out and thank you for the offer of Lucky Heather. Frostfang. So sorry to hear that happen to you my friend. Tedious folk eh. I murdered the Stadtus of Deci relatively recently… Sorry to hear about your situation it’s hard to decide what to do with people if it’s not obvious they’re a sinner but farmers as mercenaries is a Red flag for me…. I’ll watch for the name and give him a good killing. You’re very welcome to join us Eric, Effix and I for another philosophical game of what would Sunshine do! Slushy |

Frostfang, I’m more than happy to teach you to look for how they stand or the candour of their thoughts. It is often a giveaway. I once thought no evil could be redeemed and the redemption of an evil god showed me otherwise. That, however, does not always mean it is possible, or likely. Often it may take many lifetimes for someone to change, or they may never do so. And in those cases it is best we act to help them on their way to their next life as swiftly and decisively as possible.
Let us not be fools and imagine Sunshine has the right of it either though. That way madness lies. Aurora |
