Hey all! Just a few quick questions to poll you guys for some wisdom.
When it comes to level 7 and 8 multiracing, I've seen a lot of people talk about applying for some truly bonkers abilities. What sort of average points cost can someone see from taking a MR from level 6 to level 8? What sort of power can you apply for with this? Is it worth buying these levels before buying up "more important" skills from your base class? Just something I've been mulling over. |

I think thats an impossible question to be honest. The cheapest Ive ever had was like 200pts, most expensive was about 1500. Using your MR to plug holes in your spend is pretty typical, but its also legitimate to use it to push harder into your niche.
My general advise would be if youre trying to be an effective character, you can get everything you need off the standard tables. If you want something thematic, add it in there. Pete |

I'm looking at a 7 and 8 to fill out Vampire. Nothing too fancy, been looking at the common pointsapp for auto-gaseous on slain and summon vampire to res. I suppose I'm trying to get a grasp of roughly how much that would cost me. |

Best vet is apply for a load of Vampire abilities post 6th Vampire.
Lee will either pass it so you buy it as an ability. Fail it so you can't OR He says part of 7th and 8th Vampire. Once you have a collection of abilities that you can only get via 7th and 8th Vampire you have your list of stuff to put in for those levels. In short, no need to rush 7th and 8th of an Undead multi race. BBB -------------------- Grey's Law: Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice...
PS, Yes, I know my PM Box is full. Email me instead... (Which you can do through the forums email) |

BBB Ah so just apply for post-6th Vampire abilities and pay for them as such until I have a portfolio of things that have been rejected due to "only for level 7/8" and then apply for those levels when appropriate. Gotcha, thank you very much |

Level 7+8 vampire can be amazing, but often quite expensive for what you can apply for.
I think you should also wait out to see what your character direction is, because I based my 7+8 vampire on that. Callum -------------------- Callum Kenney

Callum I guess I want to make sure I have enough survival abilities plugged in to mitigate the whole "undead healing" issue. Though the vibe I seem to be getting is to do that as post 6th and save 7 and 8 for your "ultimate form" super flavourful vampiric abilities? |

Vampiric healing is great but what will you do when you are on -2 to the chest and unconscious, who is going to get you up? |

You could consider applying for something like blood points, that you can use on your vampiric abilities...
Liquify your innates to a pool of blood points that you can spend on your innates (and top up with feeding) then make sure you can use them on your 12/12 heels while you are out... I have no experience or idea if that will work... never done undead but makes sense to me... and currently running a vampire campaign lol Patch -------------------- Patch

Something I've just thought of is an ability where I could use a Blood Drain innate while unconscious without needing to consume any blood, but it only heals me for half or something. Something where the character feeds off the energy of ambient spirits. Could even throw in a "cannot enter any new bracket except the priest bracket" for funsies. |

When the caves are open again and life is a bit more normal, pop down (if that's a thing you can do, I don't know how far you live ) and I'll show you some vampire stuff I've got in the past. Callum I honestly cant wait! I'll be down the first weekend it opens up again, if to monster more than anything else. I cant imagine there will be too many low points sessions going up right away. |

I would be, if things go to plan, up for some lower level dungeons max 250/ 500. Maybe once we see some light we can liaise and request a few? Would even be happy to ref one or two. Vampiric healing is great but what will you do when you are on -2 to the chest and unconscious, who is going to get you up? Part of the issue with playing undead, and to a lesser extent spiritless characters. There are a few characters that have undead healing around but they would be unlikely to be on dungeon. I had versions of Embalming Bandages as a character, one worked as Treated Bandages and another as Medicated Badanges for undead only. You would have to let someone else on dunegon with you know to use this if you are unconscious. Or potemtially just apply for blood spilt on you can be absorbed using a Blood Drain innate even whilst unconscious ... maybe it is only 1/2 effect though as you didnt drink it. -------------------- Peter Smith
