Labyrinthe Forum _ Storm of echoes - 2019 final dawn _ So we ran away..... a lot....

Posted by: BenG Dec 31 2019, 04:46 PM

Right

So my last memory of action at the quest to stop the final dawn was a member of Gold Company, a stalwart chap with pointy ears, a multi-coloured coat and a big sword who carved swathes through the ranks of the enemy running back shouting "retreat, get out of here".

Having just seen one of my compatriots in Bronze Company get brutally diced into small pieces by something with weird hair that jumped out of the wall and stabbed him in the back, I followed his instructions, obviously whilst trying to save as many of our fellow mercenaries as possible whilst we made the orderly retreat.

However, after that and having recalled back to our base of operations, one of the mercenaries who appeared with me, a large rat who had been seen carrying a large, savage spear, who was carrying the body of another of us told me to get out of the inn before things went south.

Of course, I followed his sage advice.

Since then, I've heard nothing. We clearly didn't win but does anyone have any clue as to the ramifications of this? Am I likely to wake up tomorrow or does our failure spell the demist of Primus?

I suppose what I'm asking is whether I should be broaching our best barrels of ale and singing our death songs with my brother and sister Dwarves in our halls under the Brandins?

Any insight would be appreciated.

So we asked about outcomes and things back in the tavern

The silver dragon said we failed because “gold company evaporated” which is utter [----] and quite frankly made the whole thing leave a very bad taste in my mouth. There were only 6 of us in Gold company and what with the assassin, the mummy, the swordsman and the undead wizard returning again and again, with them targeting the little people, we simply ran out of power and too many of us died

We didn’t even have the power to cure the disease on the mummy

So [----] to the silver dragon and it’s opinion. I have my own opinion about why we failed but I will keep it to myself lest I say something I’ll regret

They tried to setup Kessleharn again in a new fortress, they failed

They tried to raise an undead army that would outnumber the living, they failed

They have setup the nether beacon and Netherwell, they succeeded and these are bound to the magiarchs.

There are a number of threats around primus that we as mercenaries need to deal with.

They got the timing of some of their rituals wrong too, which helped us but I can’t remember how...

I like to look at it as a win win, we won a bit, they won a bit.

Sparek,

What is this "Netherwell" you refer to, I presume it is some inferior copy to my own because looking out of my Keep I can see that the Netherwell remains safely within my Barony.

I don’t know... some big undead thing... my guess is the Netherwell raises people as loyal followers of Kessleharn and the Beacon attracts undead spirits, once they reach a certain radius, any non loyal undead becomes loyal to Kessleharn, any undead who is close but can’t be made loyal has their spirit replaced with one that is.

Ah well. We won a bit.

A cured the mummy disease. Good tae be in tha gold ranks a while. Bu’ whatever.

‘‘Twas brutal that’s fer sure.

Tha netherwell was one of tha anchors of the big dudes fortress. Tae kill it needed loads of dismissal. Which a canna do. This was meant tae be like a focus fer the undead. Like a big feast tae ogres, or a flame tae moths, bringing them in tae be trapped and turned tae fight for the bad dudes.

Anyhow. A few things did nae get solved. A remember:

Tha Flaming Boar tribe: sent tae Tar Edroul and told tae ask for Watching Owl. A have let him know tae expect them. Tha tribes ‘ll fix that. Nae bother. An it was their totem was stuffed.

Tha other Primus wi’ the storm people an’ dragons. (Tha other dragons and cities bein’ destroyed). Ashgrimm’s big communications scroll let me know tha there is a LOAD of stuff tae do there, after tha Dawn. Some of tha Bronze company (but nae me) May know more after spending some time there. Am I think there was an Imperial sommat buried in there too. Sommat tae do wi fixing the entropy sinks too.

But tha rest of Bronze Company stuff mostly got done. Though A reckon we may have tae shiv up some more Shadow folk near tha Rest, coz we didn’t get tha’ right on tha day.

Cheers all

Hamish

Hi Everyone!

I was just looking at some artefacts of power and they reminded me of when we went and fought these lot.

Do we know if they’re planning anything bad based on the bits we missed or did they just give up?

Hopefully someone knows what’s going on...

Nothing in particular, just some of my artefacts that came in handy but they reminded me of this mission and the fact we never ended up dealing with the leftovers...
