((OOC: a note about some stuff that has already happened in dungeons threaded into this campaign. Yes I'm claiming that Thanatar is the reason the NT dungeon crashed last time))

It has been eight months, and it will be more time yet, but I am closing in on my quarry.

Malletstang named it, so I will too: Thanatar. The rituals lying all over Primus, forcing forgettance and stealing power, leave little doubt. The God is attempting to change Primal Belief, to forget that it was ever dead, or some other trick I cannot truly scry about. "Axeman"s power not his own...

I do not yet know the full forces at the enemy's disposal, but whenever I learn more I find it is getting bigger and bigger. The days are getting longer once again and I hope to find a fresh source of foes to fight rather than this seemingly interminable. I almost had it, but the foe turned the very nature of the Exostance against us to prevent us ever adventuring on that day, denying us even the chance of a hopeless battle.

A month or two more, and I will have better news.

((Shared with anyone involved in this, especially Border Priests and people who have been on Heather's NT dungeons))

It has been a while since we made any progress, learned any information, or struck a blow against this enemy. Unfortunately, I believe we have accomplished little, although we have certainly learned; hopefully this knowledge will propel us to make a blow.
This Sunsday, members of the Natural Trust, a Duellist of the Shadow Legion, and a Wayfinder of Mortai attempted to cleanse the influence of the Nacht around Menhir Solv. The damage was done by someone working alongside agents of the Dead God Thanatar.
The Menhir Solv had been vandalised by Blue/Neutral powers which constructed “bridges” to 6 locations. These locations had been constructed by a Troll, using a collection of Mercenary heads that she gained access to based on her association with a cult to the dead God.
The 6 locations were constructed from memory, altered by the recollections of the original, and given a half-life by the Troll who made them. The source of this link could be destroyed, or it could be empowered to add the place onto Primus.

A failing village from the declivitous times, raided and plundered by taxation. The location had a disease eating away at its wheat, and a witch responsible for its spread. Instead of strengthening Primus by returning the powerful blight, we agreed not to risk the side effects of bringing an invasive species of wheat-eating growths. I note that the elm tree from this place is likely to be significant, its wood matching that of the Historical Axe (likely the source of its power to drain EP).

The Shattered Lands filled with the love of the Spiter. I must accept my weakness here, as I could not engage with the Ley Lines to find information here and I was damaged significantly by the Baronial Daemonkind here. The exhaustion of the Spiter, combined with the perils of a Flesh Pit and a Flaming Angel (a “hatched” Blauz) led us to spend more time excising this place from Primus than discovering the facts of it.

The Death of the Cori Tribe was the next place visited: we witnessed giants (Gathen) destroying it a lot. They were watched by an ancient Tribal Spirit/Deity, Gathras, who came back into existence in the Nacht when the place was disrupted (I doubt that anyone wanted a horde of Gathen on Primus). This confused Gathras only a little, but it is now a being of power in the Nacht.

We did not go to Dat Fire of Cheapside or the creation of the Nightsoil Legions on “Zombie Island”. Instead we visited “The Void”. We did not have time to complete everything, but appear to have accomplished enough to begin repairing the Leys.

An ancient place apparently from a time before magic, shattered by explosions; the place contained demons and an infinite dark, it also contained a few survivors, the “Shadowed Remnants” or a tribe that worshipped them. The Troll was here, and confident that we would help tie the place to Primus because it would save these people. The Troll told us she was working with the agents of Thanatar to accomplish her own goals, that she’d been given access to their heads and that she owed them a favour or several. She blamed Thanatar for the Ancient Curse on Trolls, and said the agents of Thanatar had relinquished the Curse’s touch on her so she was working with them and owed them.
She had created the ways to the other 5 places, but they had all been collateral whilst she searched the heads for a link to this place. She wanted to bring members of this tribe to the present in order to mean they existed, such that Wise Promise (Ik’Hala) could stop walking eternally and the Horned Host would exist again so she could nick a sword from there. That sword, presumably, being one of the largest and purest Nagrech Blades. We did agree to bring the place closer to Primus, for our own reasons related to our overarching goal; as we did so the ancient dark materials became standard Primal ones.

The specifics of much of Labyrinthia’s history is unclear to me, especially as my encyclopaedias appear to be turning blank (OOC: the wiki chose a very helpful time to go down).
Assumptions from this experience include:
The protection that prevents recall of Agents of Thanatar is not based on their being, but on working for the Church: it covered the troll because she was working alongside them.
The ways to use the memories trapped by Agents of Thanatar are myriad and they cannot accomplish all of them without outside help. Even those who can use them in some ways (create a “memory place”) cannot always use them in others (the Troll had spoken to the Tribe for half a week trying to find a way to make the Shadowed Remnants real again). Agents of Thanatar are even using access to these memories as a bargaining chip.
The reconstruction of places from the memories of the enemies of Thanatar likely aids the Cult in their attempt to reconstruct/rebirth Thanatar. I note that a different deific being has already been reconstructed partially by a single event.

I may have missed much, but I hope I have been as complete as I can. I believe I have information that may be useful to launch a next step around Midsonner. Those who can recall the history, and may be able to tie details into a wider picture, are invited to do so.
