I just wanted to laid out there that I think I made a mistake by doing what I did on the dungeon which was too tell patch as the NPC guess Rosie for you guys too get out of there as I did.
Encounter 11 was the big fight you had with the divine executioner the next bit was supposed to be the breaking down of the ritual of Silence and you were meant to go and listen to the conversations that were taking place in between higher echelons of the dark alliance. As it so happened trog summoned a Sylph which unfortunately was not the best scout in the world to walk into an encounter which triggered the alarm bells of everything that was waiting an in place to guard the meeting of the dark alliance. After speaking to Mark Dallen I was informed that the big in NPCs that were in encounter 15 that the party was supposed to listen to and gleam information from by listening to the conversations should not have been allowed to engage with the party as they were all God level npc's. They were not even statted as there is no way that they should have been engaging the party in any kind of physical combat. You as a party was supposed to be the flies on the walls to their conversation. The dungeon had failed in my eyes at that time and my decision to improve message patches character tell immediately leave denied you the right to continue and engage with the dungeon and for you to have that choice instead of me as a referee imposing it on you. I've had a long heart to heart conversation with Miles Gurrin who I respect as one of our senior referees at the club and the conversation I had with Mark aon the way home as well has conveinced me that I got it wrong. I asked Miles what he would have done and I explained the full situation and in his opinion I was 50 to 60% right. the 50% was that I didn't allow the big npc's of the dark alliance to lay into a party of 5000 points pass but I should have let the party continue with the dungeon and suffer the consequences of their mistakes. The forces that you had managed to avoid all day through cunning, guile and other methods would have had the alarm bells set off and portals would have opened up to where you are which would have been a fantastic battle which you would never have won as there would have been another 8 Divine Executioners descending on you with as many Mind Masters and as many silver swordsmen and death guard as it took to murder you all. It would have been relentless till you either or died or you teleported out I should have given you that option instead of advising you to leave because frankly I didn't want you all to die at the hands of the npc's because of one mistake. My sincerest apologies to you all I hope to do better next time. Hoz -------------------- Hoz

Hoz Hi Hoz, You made a call… to be fair… we did NOT have to take your advice and there were people that considered not doing so… me included. But we then made a call… That’s what we all do as players, refs, crew, people. For my part I had an engaging and epic day, it was hard, and challenging, but achievable… I think you hit the right balance. I really enjoyed the day, and I know that Sally really did too, we have been discussing the merits of it and it’s possible twists and turns much of the evening and this morning! You and your hard working crew gave us a real run for our money and we had to be together and on it as a party, something frankly I am still way out of practice doing lol! For my part, thank you for a great day playing one of my favourite characters Patch -------------------- Patch

We ducked up
We didn't have to leave, but we choose to (hints gratefully received etc) All is good I am a strong believer that if a party can storm through 40 carefully crafted encounters with ease and in but an hour, well, so be it. The converse is also true I reckon, such that if we get stuck on the first encounter and spend all day trying to get past and fail, well, likewise, so be it! The real question is how many points is 'Instant Stand From Prone' for a non monk though ... |
