In the darkest ritual chamber within Bulaslavia the ritual was prepared. On a cloth of deepest black symbolisms of dark power were laid out. On one side obsidian beads, a store of immense dark magic, thrummed quietly. On the other a sword, reputed to be that of the first Black Warlock of the Circle, glowed with a deep, light consuming, darkness. Scheinder Vrekstein, Magister of the Circle, assessed the balance of power and then nodded for the ritualist to continue.
The ritual, components and incantations prepared in advance, proceeded smoothly as all became aligned and bound into one purpose. Then came the dangerous part, for the Dark Magics are never forgiving. Five times the five lines would need to be read, loudly and without hesitation or error. With each repetition a dark presence focused more on the rite until the gaze of that Darkness was palpable.
With the final syllable the sword rose of its own accord and struck the beads. The ritualist summoned engulfing darkness and then used the shadows to shift the released energy into the latent place of power. Hungrily that place absorbed it. More than it could contain it spread out across the Exostance and, when darkness fell that night, there was felt a wash of power as the Dark Places awoke once more.
