The Mercenaries’ visit had left Ashrok with something of a mystery and something of a niggle. He so hated being disturbed and diverted from his studies, still they had reunited him with an ancient blade of tarnished silver, the artefact Tamarre had provided him with to transfer himself into the form he now enjoyed.
He had forgotten of the existence the Blade, thinking it destroyed long ago. He had also forgotten of the Prince in Exile. How long had he spent here since twisting The Covenant for his benefit? He had spent much time staring into the Fires of Erudition but the images had been obscured, worst of all almost seemingly wreathed in smoke that added insult to injury. This had proved even more irritating and it wasn’t. The Rite of the Blinded Eye was proving problematic however, after several evenings over the fire he had finally found a chink in it. The Staff the Mercenaries had spoken of was an artefact of Fire and that could not be hidden from him… Interesting. He reviewed the list; Monty, Bohemond, Dexter Demonbane, Burbal, Irfan, Lao, Aden, Alexis and Winter’s Flame. He would speak with Winter’s Flame should the Mercenary return to Helvall, they had all shown interest in rescuing the taken denizens of Stonewood Village and had proved a remarkably effective gathering. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
