The morning river mist had begun to hang think upon the land up and down the banks well after you would expect it to have burnt off with the late summer sun and the bargees that worked that part of the river were becoming increasingly uneasy poling through it.

This was only made worse when the river at the Stillshore Herb Farm became anything but, wild and unseasonable in its currents and violent, embodied by angry water spirits coalescing when the river was approached by the locals.

Mercenaries were seen appearing through the seemingly mundane woven arch sitting by the road upon Reeds Fallow and were soon to be seen, perhaps a resurrections length later, flying over the river and swooping down to assist the Herb Farm on the banks.

Tales over ale from Root Hand Luke told of how the little root burrowers that live on the iron-merrowroot grown there had grown from their normal two finger size to that of an ox and started rampaging across the caverns of the farm.

The mercenaries dived right into find the source of the trouble and were able to heal a fractured and broken Primal Ley that had been ritually torn and tapped for no doubt some nefarious scheme.

Hushed words were spoken of some crazy Druids seeking to wish Rodanne away somehow, obviously one mushroom too many for them. However mercenaries were being deployed to find them or whatever they had been eating. Apparently a local Noble was out for vengeance for those in his care that had suffered because of their actions and he wasn’t going to rest until it had been served.

Delving into a long ago sealed mine the group of would be Heroes were off to uncover the needed secrets from some cult believed to be in cahoots with the mushroom chewers.

Returning via the Temple of the Sacred Heart to beg the restoration of a number of difficult to resurrect fallen companions it seems the mine had been closed perhaps due to an outbreak of Gnomes. Fatal to mercenary and miner alike as demonstrated by the dead mercenaries being carried back while seemingly marching back a number of locals dressed in cult edition robes to the nearest Watch House.

The mercenaries had located the secrets they were dispatched to find but they were entwined in some form of otherworldly ritual. No doubt the people they brought out of the mine would shed some more light on what they had been involved in and there would be future mercenary work in the very near future.

Rumour had it that it started with quite the kerfuffle in the Dragon’s Tankard on the Sunsday morning, packed to the brim with strange and wonderous Mercenary types and a discussion on the finer points of Imperial Law coming to blows all in the presence of off duty Watch men & women and under the eyes of some of the timely arriving Militia.

Soon they were headed into the under city and one of the abandoned mines retracing steps of a recent midweek mercenary expedition and to unweave a series of ritual pillars woven by some shady villainous demonic cult and prevent their vile lord from coalescing in Rodanne no doubt.

The same group were seen later that day sweeping into the West Quarter after the Stadtus’s office reported a wash of Bronze magic and the undoubted unwanted desecration of the Bronze Reign. The Kallah noted that a pair of guildsmen working on shaping a new shrine for the forces of light had been slain and then empowered by Bronze magic to keep others away.

The mercenaries disappeared into the adjected home recently refurbished to house the wealthy visitors to the city and were seen leaving some hours later battered and bruised but with the smug satisfaction of do-gooding done well on their faces. How they managed to spend so long in the small residence, get into obvious conflict and yet make no discernable noise to anyone on the street to hear was a mystery.

But the Golden magic favoring populace were just glad that the Bronze Reign had been stopped once more.

Mercenaries gathering at the Dragon’s Tankard Tavern in answer to a call from Kelsine Eldenhale was becoming a regular occurrence. Word was spreading by gossip out of the Northern Watch Station that Rodanne had some regular faces to thank for their efforts.

As word widened about The Conclave of the Wild Dawn, talk of the Bronze Reign’s sporadic attacks died down and visitors to the city looking like rough and ready outdoor types began to get suspicious glances and cause conversations to pause as they walked past.

In the Rural Lands and the small Squiredom of Reeds Fallow particular it was becoming a common site to see a midweek group of handful of Mercenary types pitch up at Golden Flagon, roaming Tavern on Wagon-Wheel Flat Bread night to discuss their experiences and divide their spoils over the excellent hot food such a night entails.

On this occasions discussion was about the nearby Hamlet of Waterdown which the Golden Flagon itself had failed to find on its Moonsday roll. The place had fallen into the Nacht apparently after a Lantern that sat in the Small shrine of Lights was stolen, something a brusque lizard like creature was keen to reinforce he had the foresight to see. While a large Ogre was asking about the What?! Tribe of missing trolls, or was it the missing tribe of What?! Trolls, hard to tell at the best of time what Ogres are saying especially when they are three flagons deep.

There was talk of other mercenaries being involved, the Barons of Dawnslight, a Frozen Knight, Magic Blood and Ancient Magiocracies and cottage defending from seven decades ago.

Now it was known what had caused the Hamlet to fade, talk talked to just how they were going to bring it back.
