In the Eagle Clan Lands by the Pighnu River in the hillside paddy fields north of Deerkh Adisal.
It wasn’t an Oni, though it was dressed in red and black and had small horns. The local Wise man said that it seemed linked to the Eagle in some way and had proved so by reading the words carved on the mountain top three miles away just by looking at it (the silver Eagle talisman around its neck was also a hint murmured others.) Isha Shi, as his name translated, then proved his identity with the most impressive documentation and rented a slightly dilapidated dwelling for the coming month. He paid with a large gold coin the sight of which seemed to bring him some sadness. The next morning Isha Shi walked from the house, which seemed in much better repair, having changed into a simple robe. He sought out the poorest of the farmers, apologised for being foreign, and offered to assist with the planting the rice. The old man refused three times but Isha persisted in his offer which was finally accepted. His pay? Pleasant conversation about the lands and customs of Amles. Bows were exchanged. And so he began to work. He was slow at first but soon picked up the knack of it. To everyone’s surprise the next day all the rice planted in all the paddy fields had grown dramatically with not one plant lost. Overnight a small grove of scented cherry trees had appeared providing pleasant shade. “I think he might be a spirit of some kind” muttered one worker. “Because of the bounty?" asked another. “No.... more that his feet never actually touch the ground.” -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
