The half orc trudged towards the orphanage. He'd been on the road for hours and his journey was almost at an end. He was pleased he was going to make it before sundown. Tightening his grip he increased his pace to a fast march - he was going to arrive a day or so sooner than he planned.
The trees parted and the buildings came into sight. Children of various ages were in the courtyard - the older ones finishing up the days work whilst the younger ones played. Brarsh grinned around his tusks. --- Brarsh's axe flashed as the firelight consumed the building. Children screamed and ran for safety as he bellowed a challenge. A human man glanced over his shoulder, his face registering shock for a moment before the axe crunched through it. --- The next day the militia were called to what was left of the Buggledexter Orphanage - it had burned to the ground after being attacked by bandits. All the children had gotten away safely but the oldest children told of how Brarsh and Kemur, the orcen couple who ran the place had died buying them time to flee. The militia arranged for the children to be taken to the Remus Hills where the Buggledexters could see to their safety. Brarsh and Kemur's remains were buried in the grounds of the orphanage they dedicated their lives to. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
