Is there a way to unsubscribe oneself from private forums on the website? (I know there isn't from the public ones).

I think only via one of the admin revoking your access to that particular forum.

Indeed.. just drop the bookings line an email and advise the name of the closed forum you'd like to be removed from and Jo'll be able to look in to it for you.
