Any interest in starting a generic scouts guild?

I am thinking something any scout subclass can join in a vain attempt to get enough interest for it to avoid fading away

Chris
BennyB
I'm very interested, though don't make it down as often as I did.

I'd be in - playing or reffing.

Rich
giles
I'd be interested
JackFlashblade
Ok cool, so now we have some interest, we need to look at:

Level (I have options from 1k to 5.5k)

Ref (Mr Burges has offered to ref - what is your preference dude?)

Date

C
Gordon
Happy to get something.

True scout dungeons are some of the best you can play imo.

I too have a wealth of options but likely to want to play something around the 1500 mark.

How does Sunday 29th Jan sound to people?
JackFlashblade

I can't make 29th Jan.

I could do 7th Jan, 14th Jan or 4th Feb?

Chris
DanM
Would be keen

Range of options at various levels.

Most interested in max 1k or max 3k. Then I can bring a bodyguard
dhurrell
I could play my 2.2k Goblin Scout but I need to bring my handler...

Ooh, is it that time of the year again? wink.gif

Ah, Scout guilds...

Time to wheel out all those other Scouts who've tried to set up and run Scout guilds.

Doesn't Dan usually have a set speech of words of warning about what to exclude from a Scout guild.

JackFlashblade
Yup, that time of year again!

I think guest slots for handlers should be fine

I am thinking max 7k so Richard can play [----], would that be a problem for anyone who has already expressed an interest?

I am thinking max not so important for a scout guild.

Can we go for a generic scout guild welcome to all types be they stabby, thiefy, outdoorsy etc etc
Much more likely to be sustainable than a niche specialist type.1st class any, second class join on a guild special (to make sure they come!)
JackFlashblade
Generic guild who welcomes all was my plan

C
Alasdair
very interested at 850pts rogue or 1200pt fey thug. Will book on if I can: easier with lead time!

Alasdair
JackFlashblade
Ok, so what dates can people (who will actually book on) make?

C
Will
Later part of January?

Also intetested btw
JackFlashblade
I am monstering tribal themeday on 21st and playing the next part of Seans Campaign on 28th Jan, but could do Saturday 4th Feb?

How does that work for people?

4th Feb is good for me, despite the fact Southend are at home my son has given me permission that we can miss this match.

Rich
JackFlashblade
Ok cool, so a max [----] (7k ish?) unbalanced scout guild start up for Saturday 4th Febuary. Does this work for people?

Would anyone like to volunteer to ref?

C
Kail
I'm interested, we need one of these. I'll do any level.

Edd
Gordon
Unlikely to be about for the 4th sadly.
cripple
works for me.
Jack
Cov and I would be interested in this although like everyone else we would be up for a max 3k.

Dad I can see you are keen for Rich to play, however everyone else wants a max 1500 - 3k...

But we are in, unless its a max 7K. Then I could play as a guest slot.

Cheers,

Son
cripple
to add... im happy at any level... i have scouts ranging from about 500 points up to about 6k i think... and those are the ones that can join guilds.

think i would need a little over 3k to bring one of the ones that can cast healing... otherwise i have a physical churigeon healer i could play...
Archevol
I'm up for this. About time we had a(nother) pro scout guild.

Usually, but I've said them enough times.
JackFlashblade
Ok guys,

So I have booked a max [----] (so, 7k ish) unbalanced generic scout guild start up for Saturday 4th February.

I will likely be playing a sub 2k character, but it is an unbalanced scout guild special so I do not find the threshold that terrifying.

Sorry for those this does not suit (particularly my son).

Please don't ask to book on as your 7k guest, as I find it awkward saying no.

Chris
JackFlashblade
So, guild details wise, I was thinking along the lines of this. Thoughts?

Generic scout guild number 13. Also known as:

The venerable society of scouts and seekers.

This is a guild for scouts. Scout sub classes may join on a guild special.

Restrictions:

Seek to support the guild, and through it its members.

Anyone killing a fellow guild member is immediately expelled from the guild, and if on a guild special may do nothing except seek to leave the adventure. The guild head may choose to override this.

Background: This is a guild for scouts, any type will do.

Desperate to gather as many active members as they can they open their doors far and wide.

This leads to a diverse group of sly fellows and lasses, with a variety of talents and probably too many daggers between them.

Despite the variety of guildies this attracts, the guild is primarily one offering mutual support amongst its members.

Joining on a GS is a stretch for membership - I've always hated this membership restriction... If you wanted it I'd say 2nd class scouts need permission, 1st class scout subclasses are ok?

I think being expelled is all good - forced to leave isn't great if the guild head isn't on dungeon and you were dominated really?
gormaden
Booking as Flint 1.2K - its only Vitae.
Gordon
If you want it to be as catch all as possible I'd say:

1st Class can join freely.

2nd Class can join with the guild heads permission.

If you want to avoid party killing all together you could say:

No Outlaws may join.

Anyone Outlawed for killing a mercenary is immediately expelled until the guild head reviews the situation.

Anyone Outlawed for killing a fellow guild member suffers a conditioned heart stop.

If you want it more edgy just go with:

Anyone Outlawed for killing a mercenary is immediately expelled until the guild head reviews the situation.

Good idea

Good point, I could change it to only apply if they kill a fellow members under their own free will?

I can see that clause about own free will causing issues.

Just have them kicked out until Guild Head Reviews - just less opportunity for abuse.

4 Feb should work. Probably as my 1.2k KOTL fey thug.

Dammit, I've reached golden oldie stage sad.gif
I've only been playing for 23 years...
DaveR
I've had an idea for a scout dungeon for the past year .... was going to run it to 'reboot' shadow pockets as a more generic scout guild.

Am happy to write something but given my limited experience reffing (sub 3k on average) would ideally like an a-ref who refs at the 5250 mark to guide my hand with stats etc. A really good monster crew always helps as well. (and with my style - more the merrier as I like to set multiple encounters that some scouts can sneak off and deal with/scout while others distract or interact with precious ones ....)

Am not certain I can make the 4th - but will check with work post X-mas baloney as probably not going to get anything sorted out right now wink.gif

That is, of course, if people want me to ref, am happy to step aside for someone more experienced.

Chris, will give you a shout out on FB to let you know my basic thoughts on what I had post shadow pockets and see if anything works for you.

If/when this is booked can people post a generic sentence about what they'd be playing, it will help - Just points, rough guide to your spend(mostly hand in the air and backstab, or comm heavy, or potion monkey), the style you play (assassiney, true scout, thief, thuggish, forgetful layabout). Anything and everything works, lets me know to put in a side room with stuff to rob, questionable morale decisions, assassin targets, side 'quests'' for spys to get info etc.

Regards,

Dave
JackFlashblade
Hey Dave, that would be great.

Still only 3 of us booked on. If you are planning on playing can you please book on.

Chris
whiteknight
Having chatted with Chris he thinks the threshold is putting people off. As the max 8K is pretty much for Sh*t I shall be starting a new character for me - yes a second character at last and have booked on as a very squishy new scout.

I assume Chris will post shortly about the threshold change.

I know how disappointed some of you will be not being able to adventure with my Goblin smile.gif

Rich
cripple
i missed this going up... i have booked on...

my choice of character will now depend on what level gets changed to... but im sure i will have something in range....
JackFlashblade
So, I see we are up to 7 players, which is good :-)

Rich kindly offered to swap from [----] to a lower points character if the threshold was putting people off

If people feel strongly either way, please speak up now, otherwise we will leave it as it is

C
Gordon
Trying to arrange things to come up but won't know until closer to the time as up the weekend before this. I am one that would prefer a lower threshold if I were to play, 3k unbalanced seems good.
DaveR
I would be happier with a 3k. But. Am writing a scout dungeon so meh.

What I really need is char info from those booked on. Given the style of dungeon I have in mind. The sooner the better. Not wanting to give anything away but if i dont have your info. Then dont complain that others had more to do/a more engaging plot....

Dave
Helsvell
What is the threshold now? I need to know if it has gone down before I can choose a character
DaveR
Anyone object to it being a 3k ?

Sorry, Rich, I know you wanted to play sh!t - but aside from you I believe everyone else was sub 3k ?

Happy to keep it at unbalanced 7k - but will need a high level co-ref if this is the case.

Helsvell
At 3k I will have to start a new character at 8th and 75 pts for this.

Possibly a beggar.
whiteknight
Going down to max 3 K Its fine for me, going to play my new character.

But very squishy and low.

Rich
DaveR
Pete. How many points was your alternative? As am sure a 1k difference from 3k to 4k. Isnt the end of the world. (Pretty much be a 3k still)
