Full Version: Low level psionic monk

Hi,

I'm wanting to play a character similar to a monk that has detective/ comm like psionics.

Unfortunately I only have the Warriors book to go by and the closest character type to that would be a power master.

The character would be a lawful character (western human as I'm not particularly good at accents), that works for the imperium ( in the hopes of becoming an imperial seer).

Character is calm, calculated and pro team work, however should be able to step into a fight, does not wear armour and relies on dac.

I would like the character to be able to buy or eventually buy from the monk tables and info giving part of the psionic section ( similar to a grey knight with comms).

I'm not too worried about getting the immunities that a monk or power master possess.
Im happy to have the disadvantages that both classes have ( unless someone knows of a way that I can get away with not having to be emotionless as I'm prone to laughing at clever character quips and silly jokes).

So in short is a monk with comm like psionics.

I have no idea what psionics would be relevant from 1st to 8th and it should be noted that I will be playing on lows as I um misplaced my cards.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to replies.

start a psi master... they are in the oraculum insight book. they are a dac based class, can only wear upto leather armour...

this would be a good place to start... then I would put in a non standard tradition to gain FAP and some monk buy as... maybe with some precog's for basic comms... trade off the ability to use armour and a shield for the monk stuff... maybe add in a 3 item restriction similar to the monastic tradition.

Mr Fromant is the man to talk to for a seer style psi master...

just my suggestion.

Far Folk Awakener is close to what you're after Clive.

They are Scouts rather than Warriors - but you could probrably take Combat Wary and stuff to be "good enough" in a fight.
They have info gathering psionic stuff.
They don't have an emotion restriction.

Could be worth a look?

Racially they are Humans that don't have spirits, so healing could be an issue for a combat character.
But then scout skills like bandaging and potion making can offset that a bit.
Or you play alongside a druid smile.gif

Could try start as Monk, then a Tradition that loses you some Monk immunities in exchange for some Neuronic Comm stuff and the ability to multiclass Seer on Tb1.

Monks used to be sort of "Focussed Power" users so the Monk disciplined nature fits nicely with Neuronics.

I'd suggest being a human monk. Join Fractured Thought for a couple of comms and role play that these are part of your psychic training. As BBB says, get a non-standard Tradition with a couple of psychic comms in it. Buy some neuroncs and finally multiclass to a neuronic class.

Take mind block to represent your psychic defence training. Then role play that most of your monk skills ate 'mind over body' style mental discipline smile.gif

Hey guys!
Thank you all for your wise words of wisdom, it seems I need to get my derrière down to the caves at some point this weekend, I have too much to mull over and not enough system books to Cross reference.

How many points past is it to multi class now?

Still table 5, so 450pts past.

Published multiracers (i.e. those in Evolution) have been moved to Tb1.

You have probably seen the "Privileged" Tradition that Human Warriors may benefit from an extra multiclass slot at Tb1.

In all honesty I was so focused on the monk concept that I just followed both of his traditions the poverty and monastery one.

I think it will take me a long time to hit the 450 mark ( I'll be lucky to do once a month currently but am hoping to up that a bit in the future).
