Obviously I would advise checking a lot of stuff with Alan but I do have a lot of the information on the Drachyul that I can provide and maybe some of my apps can become standard.
Lilley
Likewise for the ggrutuck really

Yep lots of Ggrutuck stuff, things to do with Uk, etc. - I'm sure Paul & I can knock up a "ggrutuck state of play" piece of spiel if that'd suit?

Likewise the Blauz Shining Rael stuff and the colony of goodly Blauz smile.gif

And Ritter Drachyul should definately be less totally awful.

It should be standardly possible to play Baronial witches, because despite the book mentioning them constantly, it isn't.

It would be good to see published/standard life scales, classes for races like the Hurdle and others mentioned in the Dominion book that currently aren't playable without YP. And possibly some form of Baronies Beggar like the Klosterkinder?

Alan.

It would be great to see the stuff Giles did about the history of Eva Wyvett - Veil go in and about the Order of the Torn Veil. Some very rich background stuff IMHO.

My 'feeling' is that the Baronies book is very cool - flavour wise - and has a distinct atmosphere and background to it. However I remain unconvinced about the viability of many of the playable classes and races. I *think* this is supported in the amount of people that play them, although obviously other people are in a better place to judge.

I know that there are notable exceptions / examples, but still comparatively I think they are on the low side, or only tend to be playing 'in their own groups'.

My feeling for the book is that it needs a whole lot more LRP stats to back up the really rather lovely deep feel of the book. That will make more people play the stuff in it, and thus read the book / care about it more.

I'd like to see the rules on Baronials in guilds relaxed a little as well
Especially for non-circle people, as they cant join guilds and get no circle benefits to make up for it
dnsmantra
The other thing worth mentioning is that the baronies book has nothing mentioning the sunless or any of the developments down south in the last X years. Having some spiel on those would be cool, as would being able to play nasties from the Spiter's side - flesh crafted things, etc.

I think Alan Morgan said he was prepared to make the Sunless map available - which would be a nice inclusion I think?

Yes the map that Alan gave us was blank in the middle. people all then got given the reference of where to mark places. The whole point is that we dont know what within the sunless. However not sure people have ever updated it.

Cheers guys

Couldn't agree more with this - the Baronial book is my favourite of all the sourcebooks but the stats (unless you're a circle psychic or a ggrutuck warrior) are really poor. Its always confused me how the Ritter Drachyul fought the demons with any degree of success (bit like the Athfanel and the ishmaics, really).

Any chance of a copy to go somewhere on the Laby website for people without HotE forum access?

I know I've banged on about it before, but any chance we can get this sourcebook updated?
It's never had a reprint AFAIK, and is very very out of date.

Along with some other sourcebook updates of course.

Quite frankly I think it would be impossible as a publication - isn't this something for thw Wiki ? That way a large volume of people can contribute bits rather than one person - 10 years plus of changing history I don't think would get covered in all but the most cursory of fashions

Well, the stats need updating anyway.

Plus, I think the background should be in the books and not in some corner of the internet
DavidFisher
I think it depends what you are after. Dan, you post like it is the stats that you want updating while Giles is focused on the history and background.

Persoanlly I agree with Giles that the recent history is very complex and probably too large for a publication

As for stats, do they really need changing? Perhaps a small update on available classes (like witches) but even this isn't really necessary - just accept it as one of those things - Circle classess and races are weaker than Empire (which makes sense as they lost after all...)

David

It depends on what you mean by updating ?

I agree with David - statwise what really needs changing ?
If by updating you mean 'improving' eg. so they can join guilds etc. then I'll go out on a limb here and make a prediction - I think the first thing to go will be some of the Circle training benefits. As someone with a Baronies neuronicist I'm sure you'll be fine with that smile.gif
Baronies have a distinct flavour - some decent benefits and some significant drawbacks - does this really need 'updating' ?

Background - I wouldn't know where to start - Alan regularly posts updates on the HotE board and sends newsy type snippets to the CC which end up in the Primal Times - if someone wanted to I'm sure they could collate these - having pasted them into a central document - I'm assuming no one has done because well, they're not that bothered.
One of the points of the Primal Times is that it collates ref reports and HotE stuff so everyone can refer to it - the advantage of the internet for this - is everyone can download it and a sourcebook becomes rapidly out of date.

If nothing else, can the page for the ritter drachul status be given the description for ritter drachul rather than the one for dhambyer at the top of the page?

Also can the published upgrades to consume primal vitae work in the same way as the ability itself? It looks as though they were written to follow different rules.

They make sense don't they? Snatch Vitae makes it an instant offensive power as I read it (and a few others when I clarified it on the boards). Otherwise it requires a willing target and takes times... The other upgrades just change the effect it has on the user (more healing, removing disease or inflicting a physical version of an utterly ridiculous miracle).
