One of the main trade routes between Amlas and the Empire suffered a worrying incident in the last week. A trade caravan, originally from the Empire but a regular visitor to both lands, had just passed the border into Amlas. They were waylaid by a man in ornate full armour, including a closed helm and an insignia emblazoned on his breastplate.
He accused those in the caravan of having disrespected his family, and demanded they kneel at the side of the road. When the caravans guards tried to intervene, they were summarily slain, apparently with great ease. The remaining merchants were then decapitated, and their headless corpses left kneeling at the side of the road. All this is known because a single surviving servant was left alive, instructed to return to the Empire with a message for all that would enter Amlas. That message was "If you would come to our lands, learn and respect our ways or this fate will surely await you too." The servant was understandably traumatised, but swears he has no knowledge of what they did wrong. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk

In the days and weeks that followed, an increased presence of Crane Clan guards was seen covering the affected trading route.
Whilst no more incidents occurred, it was not clear whether this was because of the increased protections or because the incident in question was as isolated as it was sudden. That said, the traders looking to make business with the Amlasian's certainly felt more comforted for the efforts. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
