You'd just need to buy a new (expensive) computer, lots of other software and learn to use it all.

Bargain. wink.gif

Miles, I've not had a problem with Windows 8/10's built in antivirus. Are you using an earlier version?

Less and less true as consumer uptake on macs increases sadly! It's not they are immune it's just people didn't target them as there weren't enough of them out there...

AVG free and Malwarebytes both free and provide solid protection

In that case I've never bothered to use more than the built in Windows Defender which has been fine. It doesn't receive as good ratings as some other AV packages but it has no real system impact and I think is perfectly fine as long as you use good hygiene (i.e. don't click on random links, open random e-mail attachments or fall for phishing-type website scams). If it's just a temporary thing before you buy something very thorough, I really wouldn't bother with anything else.

Windows Defender and Malwarebytes (free) and ive never had problems.

If you download anything always run a quick scan with defender & Malwarebytes and you should be fine.

Ignore Dick'chard re his Mac comments, its now a myth that you don't need anti-virus software and Avira (free) does the job there too without taking many system resources.

I tend to avoid AVG free these days because its got a lot of adware trickery that it regularly attempts to lure you into.

Myth? Have a few devices and none need AV but the Windows lap top loves it's AV software and the time it takes to load up....LOL!

I get a bullguard licence off ebay each year. About a tenner works great, regularly updated.
Get the free trial, if you like it get a licence from eBay and it adds to any time you have left.
