Do you get to know what a dying effect is before choosing whether to apply your resistance to dying effect?

I think you should as it is pretty boring being on the floor for 5 minutes, its rubbish when there is an OOC lottery in choosing and it leads to stupid scenarios like elves having to fall over for 5 mins to a spiritual stairway to death?

Surely you get hit by the firestrike or whatever and can choose to suck it up or fall over for 5 mins.

S

It's never been written down. My personally opinion on how it should work is you are aware of the dying effect and can decide at that point to apply it or not. No working out how much damage you take and if it would kill you or not. Just a "You take this dying effect, do you want to fall over?" Yes/No answer. Sort of like a retro really. Not doing it this way is basically just a bit rubbish with the way the system has evolved.

In the new Almanac it list the Hollow Bone Goblin tribe can play Forest Guardians and Leywalkers but not the base life.

Any chance can have the life's for these goblins.

Thanks Iain

Leywalkers use life as a Silverfolk Spy (35/12 at 8th) and forest guardians and Forest guardians have life as a Goblin pathfinder (39/15 at 8th)

Do all abilities that require prep time require that ability to be used immediately following the prep or can they be 'stored' up for later? Examples of the top of my head include: strike death blow, affinity with nature, flick of the wrist, mighty strikes and permutations but there are many more.

Thanks
Sam

yes they do scorpion. Concentration also can't be done when being hit/actively parrying monsters or the like.

I also remind people about the rules for locs being severed applies to corpses.

What is the consequence of being level drained with regards to life, power, resistance and casting levels?

How long does it take to come back?

Everyone will hate you now for asking this but:

You lose a level from you base class. For system and battle-boarding ease this means:

Your level of casting is reduced by 1 (so a 1st class priest can't cast 8th lvl miracles).
You lose a level of resistance
If your base life is from your base class it drops.
Your maximum power for power uses if reduced (so an 8th level warrior priests with 24 spirits, drops to 6th, his max spirits becomes 18).
If the ref is brave enough you lose supernatural innates (so neuronics, AP, etc.), but often this is easy to do.

They are earnt back like levels, so if I am reffing it's about 10 encounters to get one back, but depends on the situation.

If you've bought the Spiritual Vessel MR, can you still cast a Spirit Invis? And if yes, what would be the effect of that spirit invis?

Is it the same as before, you're just immune to all Spiritual effects? or does it (Like Paul reckons) either act as a sort of vanish animate and you stop existing for the duration, or does it just kill you?

Thanks in advance

You can't cast it as you are spirit only.

As a general rule you need to have "hits" (as in can take damage from" at least one power base. So no being Immune to physical damage (immortal), casting spirit invis, mind barring, and casting earth shield for example.

The Priest Status: Witness of Hidden Secrets

The “Detect Life” ability (assuming it’s not a typo and meant to be Detect Lie!) how does it function? 20’ range like other Detect abilities or is it more a 1” discern?

Is it supposed to have a verbal?

(OK, so I'm entirely willing to buy the whole status just for the spirit point reduction as both my neutral priests but it would be nice to know what the rest of it does! smile.gif )

BBB

It's a typo as mentioned in another thread, so is Detect Lie.

Wind dancer life at 8th is 51/15, but 7th is 48/16, is this a typo and it's meant to be 51/17?

You have 29/9? or more sensibly 51/17 is correct.

In the Lucky Dip this year, I got Priest status 'Learned One'. I think there might be a typo...

Rather than not, should that reaad 'now'?

I just noticed the below:

The Very Well Equipped muti class is only available to Scout Subclasses and Witchs but in the Witch’s Muti Class costs have no costings.

So what are the costings for Witchs to take the above muti class?.

Thanks Iain

They can, and good spot. Let's go for same costs as Thugs.
But if you have a strong option character then might be cheaper by points apps.

The races book I'm looking at states 'Athfanal may join professional guilds with the guild masters permission, and they may only belong to Athfanal social or professional guilds'

Should the second part read 'may only belong to Athfanal social or political guilds'?

While I'm on Athfanal, are you able to clarify what the benefits of 'Skinning' are? Unable to find anything clear on it in the books other than 'allowing animal hides/fur to be turned into armour', presumably this means people without the 'skinning' skill can't?

Yes should be Social or Political.
Basically correct. You can skin a wolf/bear/balrog and turn it into armour and wear.

Hi,

Combat agility - first jump in a series of jumps - you are may not be struck during the jump

Is the important bit the first jump or the series of jumps

e.g. if I have the ability and I jump once but don't jump again quickly afterwards am I not able to be struck? or am I not able to be struck only if I do more than one jump in quick succession?

sorry if it is a small point and totally obvious

thanks
Richard

So you use a jump and can't be struck. If you jump again you can be struck.
There needs to be a definite break in the jumps for it to restart, so not jump, run two steps and then jump again.

Not that I'm planning on playing an evil priest anytime soon but with regard to Summon Vampire it says the vampire can turn into a bat, rat and wolf at will.

In these forms can they do any damage? (am guessing not)

Do they retain the hits the vampire had when it transformed?

Can they be harmed in these forms (kind of thinking they could be subject to range attacks but probably not touch / blows as tricky to hit a rat etc)

Cheers

Ben

It's all a bit vague but:
Wolf - You can probably fight and be hit normally.
Bat - You are a flying bat so can't hit people and can fly
Rat - Like a bat, but rather than fly can fit through small holes.

Otherwise yes they retain the hits and stuff.

Scout “recognise” abilities - eg neuronic, EP, spirit

I’m spiritless - can I recognise spirit? Assuming not, as says as per priest ability which would be a spiritual info effect?

I buy vessel of the dragons MR (the ‘magic only’ one, I think that’s what it’s called!)

Do I at some point lose the ability to recognise neuronics and EP I’d owned?

Thanks

They are the relevant powerbase. Same is true for scholar now.

Hi

All priests can MC Spiritual Vessel.

A spirit warrior buying this MC... as written they can use and benefit fully. Thus they can cast from the separate spirit pool. And there is nothing written about sharp weapon restrictions.

Could a Sp Warrior with a bastard sword (say) therefore buy and benefit fully. Or is there some 'missing wording' requiring spiritual choice, blunt weapons, etc. Guessing it is fine as written, but wanted to check.

Alasdair

[I] No as written Spirit warriors can't have spirits unless they buy the ability to, so can't use the spirits.

Can an Ishmaic High wizard:

1. Carry a magical glaive, and
2. Parry with it?

The descriptions of Ishmaics and Glaives seem very keen to let them have them. And is it a short spear, or dagger with a long handle for system purposes?

Stuart

Glaive is a short spear.

You could carry a glaive, but still couldn't parry with it as you can't use weapons.

Are Traditions and Status the same thing.

The new warrior book states you can have one tradition, later it states you can have one status. Is it one or the other or can you now have one of each?

They are different.
You have a tradition slot.

You can buy A warrior status from the book, or get a non-standard version of one.

You can then have other statuses, such as KotL/other guilds etc.

Armour Mastery states that it is applied before AC.

Assuming you have PAC 12, 6 points of AM and Imm. to Bruising PAC if hit by a triple I assume you still take 1 point of bruising.

If that is true why is it written this way as normally the numerical comes after AC.

It is probably just a flavour wording thing (I don't have the exact wording on me). The rule is:
A/C
Numerical
Fractional and percentile.

Lee

Can you use items of +x casting levels for learning spells?

And if so does the spell stay learned when the item blows up, if that would mean you no longer have the casting levels required to have learned it?

Cheers,

Sean

Nope, only your own permanent abilities.

Lee

Posted by: Netheril Mar 17 2018, 10:36 AM

Damage reductions, I should probably know this by now, but still not 100% sure how it works!

So I get the one numeric, one percentage and one fractional.

But the fractional sometimes seems problematic. I -think- the rule is that if one of the damage reductions is conditional it will stack with a universal damage reduction, as per the following examples, but just want to be sure:

I believe that I can stack my 1/2 effect to mantic effects from a spiritual source and my resistances to causing/spirit bolt, etc together, even though both are fractional. But can I stack 1/2 effect black/bronze/whatever and 1/2 effect mantic effects from spiritual source?

Not as sure, but think I can stack 1/2 effect grey with 1/2 effect dispels?

If I get hit by a black mana weapon blow from behind, can I stack 1/2 effect black with 1/2 damage blows from behind? (am magic only obviously)

Think the above examples will cover any other such instances I'm not sure of. Hope clear enough?

Cheers,

Sean

So:
Weapon blows = 1 fractional, but!!!
Resistances will stack if relevant.

Effects = Resistances, but they broadly stack in most ways. So 1/2 fx mantics and black and causing is fine.

Armour Layering question:

If you have MC Plate over MC Chain granting PAC 10 where the chain is +0 spiritual and the plate is +0 magical how is damage calculated regarding pure blows.

Is it per effective piece of armour or does the layering come into effect?

Also would someone with a casting metal restriction suffer from the chainmail?

You apply the armour that has the relevant power base. Layering only matters if both have it.

All non-magical metal applies to metal restrictions.

If you have "live to minus x first time needed" as an ability, then get an item of the same can you use both.
If yes, how would it work

It all depends what they'd say but exactly, but if its Survivor/similar and the published item when you would need any live to they both kick in. So say 6 from "Ability" and 6 from "item" for 12 total.
Two items wouldn't stack, but abilities probably would in line with above.

If you have an item of spiritual live-to-minus first time it is needed and an item of magical live-to-minus first time it is needed how do these interact:

Option 1: Both kick in first time they are needed and you need both magic and spirit damage to die.
Option 2: One one kicks in and the player gets to choose - the other is wasted.
Option 3: One kicks in the first time it is needed, the second kicks in the second time it is needed and the player gets to choose the order.

Option 2. You can generally only have one "live to minus kicks in 1st time" type thing.

Also is there a better chance at making stuff when playing a Dwarven wizard?

There must be some advantages to out way the lack of Mana.

If you hear something out of character that you haven’t been told in character, can/should you take that knowledge in character?

It all gets tricky. So broadly don't abuse it:

So you have someone tied to Thimon and hear loads of people talking about how they burnt down the Watch house in Thimon on their dungeon today in the pub. It's probably ok to assume that you know a watch house got burnt down.
You hear people talking about how they broke in to a nobles house and stole his items then it's not ok.

A little common sense really.

Hey,

If one becomes immune to all but a particular powerbase does that mean I could only interact or operate within that powerbase.

Example: I take vessel of the dragons to 6th level meaning I now only take damage from magic. Does that mean I can only interact with the world through magic, so I couldn't use mundane weapons or benefit from spirit or earthpower healing, or is it more extreme that I can't physically interact with the world at all, or is it simply that I only take damage from magic.

Thanks

You are immune to all bar magic. So EP healing, Spiritual healing. You can only use a magic weapon, can't wear normal physical armour etc.

Two questions if I may:

1) After going Vessel of the Dragon is all damage bar pure magic hard capped or can you use a +0 magic sword with appropriate abilities to go above quad despite its physical component?

2) If a blue/red fairy goes chromatic grey wizard can s/he use brown and green spells?

1 is easy, and published. you can use a +0 physical/magical sword, but the person gets to apply their best from PAC/MAC to it and DAC, but you can only inflict magic damage.

2 a little more complicated.
A wizard has an opposite colour, a fairy doesn't. So in the case you give you are fine. But if you were a brown wizard you couldn't use Blue innates.

Lee

What are the rules for spirit stores? How many can you carry and how much power can they give you?

They are in the ISP book, but here you go:

Items which grant extra power do stack with one another, but to a maximum of +12 power from a given powerbase of a given type, and a maximum of +24 power over all pools from the same powerbase (e.g. one could have +12 mana & +12 red mana, or +8 red mana, +8 blue mana, +8 grey mana).

Items that grant an existing power user more power simply grant them more power. This power can be used just like normal, can be meditated back and so on and so forth, with the set restrictions on what can be cast from it (if appropriate). The exception to this is Regenerating power stores, this power forms a separate pool that allows effects to be cast from. It cannot be combined with a person’s normal power, so a 4 point regenerating power store can only cast things that cost 4 or less power.

Lee

Posted by: BBB May 17 2018, 07:12 PM

The restriction on Flow of the Divine states: “May not regain spirits except Via Supreme Sacrifice (or similar) for 3 hours after using…”

If you use it to regain spirits in your main pool does it then also prevent Vessel Spirits from regenerating if the spirits medded back were from your main pool.

BBB

All regaining of spirits.

A Pathfinder MC Stealth Mage has selected blue and picks up a bunch of different blue mana innates as a result, if they later decide to MC Wizard could they choose to be a Brown Wizard? Book states 'may not learn spells of an opposite colour to their own' and wasn't sure whether the innates would count against that?

you can't do it.

For a Elf/faerie to hold anything at all does the items/objects need to be enchanted. Also what about if they contain magic already?

To use anything system relevant it needs to be enchanted or magical so:
Armour
Shields
Weapons

Are the obvious three. Things like cutlery and plates are fine.

Looking for a confirmation on Vessel of the Dragon.

The second buying option is other spiritless, looking to confirm that you don't need to be in the wizard bracket and just have to be an elf, fairy etc to buy this option?

Seems fairly obvious to me but a few people have told me you have to be a wizard to buy this option so thought I best check before I spend any points.

No it really is obvious. Other spiritless means Elves etc.

Nope

2. Angelic armour from angel touched grants 1/3rd off all damage from an evil source for 5 mins, would this apply to an evil bloke using a regular, physical sword?

Yep anyone evil hitting you in any way.

3. Contra mastery states "May not buy this if counter mastery is already purchased and vice versa." I assume this means it cannot be purchased both as counter mastery against maces and contra mastery against maces, rather than just being unable to buy both at all, but just wanted to make sure.

This is an error from the old books. you can.

Looking for a mantic clarification.

Originally I understood mantic to be a combination of two powerbases that could effect both and be effected by both.

However I have come to understand that a pure mantic creature is unaffected by magic or spiritual damage as pure mantic seems to have become its own powerbase.

Does that mean that a pure mantic creature doing mantic damage can't kill something with last hit magic or spirit, or is it a I can hurt you but you can't hurt me situation?

Its in the books somewhere, but a mantic hit creature can do magic and spirit damage normally.

For example 'Double, cuts through all your resistances'

Would 'Discern resistances to Magic Missile' grant the caster knowledge of a targets MAC as it resists the damage taken?

the guild totemic gaurdians allows you to pick a power from primal soul predator or prey, If you choose jump, how does the relate at a rate of 1/2 levels, is this

A:) based on actual character level so you would have 4, OR

B:) Based on levels of the MR so you would get 1 for just having the ability

C:) based on levels in the MR so you would get 0

Thanks

Graham

somewhat obviously it's your character level.

So:
Neuronic shards; 100 grulls per Tblp of the innate. Life cost applied when used: One shot doesn’t count as an item. 70/76% chance of success. Probably Mental prep for 100%....

Neuronic trinkets; 1000 +(500 per roll per tblp) no life cost to use, one shot, counts as an item with no blow up.
90+%% -1% per 3tblp on each roll

So a NSJ is 1200 for a shard at 70%

Or 7000 for a trinket at 90 - 4%

I’m struggling to see the benefit of a trinket.

Regards, Mark

I can't see one either. But Trinkets of total heal aren't great either.

A wizard can embody an elemental. They suffer if that elemental is negated.

Looking at Elements Bound MR, there is a minor ability that says the wizard no longer needs to summon an elemental to embody it. Presumably this means that when embodied they cannot be negated at all/ elemental cannot be dispelled.

Do I understand that correctly?

And.. now that they have a strong elemental affinity, what does that mean on elemental sight? Do they look to their own colour elemental like ‘one of their own’?

Cheers

Alasdair

Nope.
They can still be negated by other elementals, they just draw their inner elemental out.

The T8 Spiritless Ability - Resistance to 'Mantics which originate from a spiritual effect, character suffers only 1/2 damage, does not affect resistance levels or duration.

How does this interact with Resistances to Spirit Bolt, Causing, Soul Lance etc?

Am I correct in thinking they won't stack as they are both a fractional reduction?

If you wanted to get better than 1/2 off, you would need to buy 1st Res, 2nd Res etc?

Should their be a 2nd Res to Causing/Spirit Bolt for Spiritless or do they pay the full points price after the 1st?

Resistance to mantics does stack with them, as resistances are normally 1/2 previous effect.
If you were using it s a damage reduction vs weapon blows then it wouldn't.

2nd and 3rd resistances ar enormal costs for Elves etc.

Sheenie the human warlock is mana-raging with a 25% cold rage. I cast Weaken the Body on him and beat him with a Sabre of Darkness and Deceit. Presumably the +25% pure magical damage from Weaken the Body and the -25% from the rage simply cancel out and Sheenie takes normal damage? Rather than for example me having to multiply 75% by 125% to work out that he is taking 93.75% of normal damage or something mind-bending like that.

Now Sheenie upgrades to a 100% black rage, still mana-raging. This may be non-standard but can we assume it is the most basic kind of 100% mana rage imaginable. Presumably the +25% from Weaken the Body comes off the 100% reduction so Sheenie only has a 75% reduction, and a sabre quad would do him 6 points if he is immune to the blast effect. (He didn't think he needed any DAC or MAC because he has a 100% rage...)

I am just trying to think of a situation where I would actually want to cast Weaken the Body...

Just don't over think it. Apply the increase in effect then apply the damage reduction. Simple.

Some wizard master/apprentice questions...

1) Are the benefits perm once bought? Even if the master or apprentice perm dies? As the learning remains. Mainly important for me (master) as if the casting levels are not perm cant use them for learning new spells.

They are permanent and remain

2) If the benefits are perm, can the rebirthed character still buy a new apprenticeship with the same master, both paying 15 pts again. Effectively meaning the master gains another casting level for another "new" apprentice.

No. The apprentice could rebuy, but the master already has the ability (so doesn't need to pay the points again).

3) Can I apprentice someone who is more pts than me?

Yes

4) Can I apprentice two characters belonging to the same player? In this case, one ivory, one gold, neither will effectively ever meet.

Yes in theory, but often best avoided

Could you give a little more info regarding the final stage of the Champion of Nature build path.

QUOTE
Champion of Nature Cost: 250pts T: 10
Available To: Any First Class
Gains +1 level of Earthpower [min 4]. +6/2 life, immunity to all natural elements, [e.g. normal fires, lightning,
cold]. Includes the ability to breathe underwater.
Must have Chosen of Mother Nature and the Horned Man first.

QUOTE
Nature's Harmony Cost: +300pts T: 11
Available To: Any First Class
From Champion of Nature: Gains 1/2effect the Supernatural Aspect of Elemental Attacks (EG Fire, Cold,
Lightning etc.).

If 'Immunity to natural elements' is as written, does this include the table 3 entries that include 'natural' as per

QUOTE
'Immunity to Natural Light (1/2effect supernatural Light, not resistance levels)'
'Immunity to Natural Acid ('/2 effect supernatural Acid)'

With the above, does it then follow on that Nature's Harmony is a package of

1/2 SN Fire
1/2 SN Cold
1/2 SN Lightning
1/2 SN Light
1/2 SN Acid

If it's just the listed examples of 'E.G Fire, Cold, Lightning' you could just buy those from the tables for 260 pts.

However, thinking about it more because the tables abilities are '1/2 fx SN Fire' and the druid ability is '1/2 fx SN aspect of elemental attacks' does it stack, in a similar vein to +1 Mac and +1 Mac vs Fire.

Any help?

If I'm hitting a tree whilst doing quad with a flaming axe am I doing the equivalent of a 12 or a 16? Trying to understand how these things stack.
Depends on the tree, but standard ones you can live large and do sixteen

A fairy cannot normally benefit from strength, in the case of adrenal surge I assume you gain all the benefits aside from the stacking strength, therefore if you have enough weapon masteries to fill the extra damage grade can you still call quin or is the +1 max damage strength based?

Its a buy as restriction, so they can't buy + 1 strength. However you can get it from the adrenal surge.

I am assuming the levels wouldnt stack but for example would the scout subclass who already had 2 jump inates from Athlete, then multiclass as Pathfinder and select Athlete as a skill, gaining an extra jump innate per 3 levels (or fraction of) of the multiclass?

I'm trying to see the benefit of multiclassing as pathfinder when it seems far more beneficial to simple by additional skills post 8th at 20 points a pop.

No they can't. But they can get new level based skills they don't have.
They also have the advantage that where a skill has a prerequisite (so discern and make healing) they can buy discern healing with points, and then take make healing as a pathfinder skill as it requires skill levels.

Yes this is intended and is a benefit of using a multi-class slot to do it.

Shroud of Halgar grants immunity to magic and spiritual damage, and I assume as it covers both the components of mantic damage, to that as well?

If I combine this with a Ironskin evocation granting 1pt of damage per damage grade on physical blows will this, as I am immune to the magic and/or spiritual components of the weapon, mean that I would also only take 1pt of damage from those supernatural weapons?

Thanks,

correct on mantics.
Iron skin doesn't apply to weapons with a supernatural component. So an elven druid with an ironskin would still be hurt by a +0spirit weapon, like an elf with a svelte up.

Hey,

Paladin multi-classes pure priest. Pure priest says may never use physical weapons. Do pure priest restriction to physical weapons apply even though the paladin has weapon use abilities?

Does unarmed combat count as a physical weapon?

Can I take weapon masteries in unarmed combat?

Thanks,

Chris

Pure priest restrictions over rule Paladin weapon skills, and unarmed combat counts as a physical weapon.

If you have an item of rebirth/upgrades to it, can it be used or does it blow up when you perm, before your rebirth?

If the item blows up you can't use it. So unless it has DNBUOD you'd need to rebirth before the end of the dungeon.
Also if the item is once ever or uses you'd need to be battle boarding and using a use on the dungeon you died.

Now there are two published ways to get forearm parry as a warrior, can someone who gains it this way buy the listed ‘Parry Versitility’?

Thank you

having forearm parry doesn't let you buy parry versatility. It is an ability listed on the tables (in the warrior book) with the requirements there.

How do spiritual light and magical darkness interact?

For example, there is a magical darkness and then someone uses spiritual light. What happens then?

Hi Lee,

The below description for Enhanced Weapon Mastery Shield seems to suggest that your max damage grade is increased to Quin. Albeit your still need to also have enough strength or weapon masteries to actually strike for Quin. Could you clarify if that’s the intended meaning. Cheers mate.

From weapon mastery shield and Distancing, as enhanced distancing combat but requires use of an O class weapon
and a large shield (25”+ in diameter). Max DAC=6, as with weapon mastery shield, and now has max damage Quin
unless a Battlemaster.

Ben/Grisham

it has been posted before and changed in version 16.2 of the rules. It says you can't inflict above quin now.

Just wondering what happens to things, both beneficial and disbeneficial with time limits, when you embody the dead, or indeed twist the form.

In the case of these two abilities times still run down, but don't effect you as you are the undead.

Think of them like magical spirit warrior warriors. A bit better life but no power, but can get innates if you want.

Hi,

Can a Evil Druid standardly use a Blessing of the City spirit evocation that grants the ability to become goodly and take a true believer innate to a goodly god? Using the innate and then either dropping the evocation or casting the Blessing again to align to a city where there was no alignment change option or requirement.

Would there be any ramifications if the druid in question was also a Spirit Warrior and member of an evilly aligned church?

I understand that there would be limitation in alignment of miracles, scrolls, and items that could be used but would there be other issues with the Church itself, or would this be on High Priest by High priest basis?

Thanks

Carl

Yes you can cast the evocation to become goodly etc.
For the spirit warrior part it becomes trickier. You stop being the right alignment for your church which means you lose your miracle list etc. If you have a vindictive high priest then they might think choosing to become goodly is an offensive meaning you should be excommunicated. So you probably want to avoid it.

A quickie:

Am I right in thinking AOF can be used to resist attacks requiring abilities not available to the character.

EG Bob the warrior is hit with an effect requiring Fortified spirit to resist it. Warriors can't standardly buy fortified spirit, so Bob could use one of his AOF innates to resist it.

CHris

You are correct about Act of Faith. However Warrior can get fortified spirit standardly on the tables.
A better example would be Non-Handbook Curses for a warrior.

When choosing whether or not to take a dying effect with the standard tables resistance are you aware of what the effect will do or do you have to choose blindly?

you get told it, then can decide. You can't spend time working it out or anything like that. But it does give detail so "dying effect X" "What is X" "it's this" "Ok I'll call over" is ok.

The obvious example is death traumer, what, 10 pens, I'll take it.

Question regarding pathing from priest to something else.

Assuming you are neutral when pathing as a priest do you need to choose either the goodly or evil path or can you just retain your normal use of miracles such as talk to spirit?

You only keep Neutral, so lose Good and Evil

Can you path spiritual mancer and then multi class wizard having a mantic pool of spirits and a separate normal pool of mana along with specialists glyphs?

Yes

If you are say a priest of the runes and a spiritual mancer do you automatically gain mantic versions of the priest of the runes abilities or do you need to pay an additional cost/pointsapp?

No, you need to buy spiritual devotee (I think the name is) to let you cast published miracles mantically from handbook.

Lastly just to clarify when you path you lose the ability to cast non alignment miracles even non mantically?

Correct

Abilities available to those ‘except X’

Is it possible to buy an ability through normal means, and then become an X at a later date because at the time of purchasing it was not a valid restriction? Or is there an (un)written rule that the ability is lost?

Eg - a half athfanel is not inherently a ‘mana user’. They buy T8 ‘the third wind’ to gain 1/2 damage from all purely magic attacks’ and then after that buy “full elf innates” or perhaps MR Full Elf?

Dave

depends on X.
So All bar wizard. You just need to buy as not a wizard.
The winds are different. It is a restriction of the ability rather than the buy as requirement really.

Can a priest in spirit form apply a damage reduction based on the weapon having a physical component to a spirit mace on account of having Physical presence.

Can the same priest also apply a damage reduction versus solely spiritual damage to the same weapon on account of being immune to Physical damage.

I am assuming he can only apply one - but I'm not sure which one it is... but it could easily also be both (my brain hurts)...

You are only effected by spirit, so the physical component is irrelevant UNLESS the reduction is clearly based on being in a spirit form.

So "While in spirit form I get 1/2 effect any weapon with a physical component" works, otherwise its unlikely to since you are only worried about the spirit world.

It is also, mostly, the world of points apps so depend son their wording.

To what extent are the city / region stats published in the Almanac representative of IC knowledge, or are they entirely OOC?
If you are a character present in a particular city, do the stats reflect "what you see every day" (and thus probably in keeping with your IC perception of the relevant goings-on) or are they official figures from the scribes (which is how I think they used to be explained in the old days of HOTE, but I may be wrong)? My own thinking is the latter, but obviously with people only using this info if they think a particular character would care enough to know / have access to this sort of thing.

For context, this is because obviously SOFE has completely vanished from everywhere and I want to know if that is a real thing (IC they have all disappeared and nothing is happening, where have they gone?) or just what appears in official statistics (IC the scribes say they have all disappeared but that is clearly rubbish as they keep showing up on dungeons, they must have done a rite / whatever to "fool the scribes", lets find out about it, etc) smile.gif

C

It's a general feel of the area. So if its on the stats then mercenaries can work it out.

For SofE it was a total mistake on my part as I stopped being able to spell.
If there is a sudden drop like that and there wasn't a write up on the boards/in the almanac it is probably a mistake.

Anyone with a good justification, but the further from being a wizard etc. you are the less likely it is. So a random person with fully active would be a no on neuronics, but a Silverfolk, or someone that has invested heavily in Elder Fey with Neuronic talents yes.

Potion Facility scout skill allows use of wm again with strength potion does it also let you use neuronics again?

I’ve got a question regarding MC’ing into the Warrior Bracket and how that interacts with Life Capping.

I’m a Drowe Wizard (Base 29/9 – Life Cap Pre T8 – 44 TBLP) and my mana just isn’t going far enough. I don’t want to get properly stuck in, but I still want to call quad. I decide to MC Archer to Lvl 6 (600 pts) which now puts me in 33/11. I’ve picked up some guild life along the way and I want to start making use of my new warrior subclass buy as to get some stamina +6/2, +12/4 but I’m going to breach my life cap very quickly.

My question is, as I’m now a Warrior Subclass do I use the ‘Warrior subclasses whose base life at 8th level is less than 51…’ calculation. I am a warrior subclass, but I’m only a Lvl 6 Warrior Subclass and if I were to take it to 8th my base life would still be less than 51.

If not, what life-cap should I be using?

You should use Drowe Archer at 6th life.
I have re-read it and its not clear. The intent is for 1st Class Warrior subclasses to be able to buy 24/8 and have some life.
So the "use 51 TBLP" bit is meant only for people that start as warrior subclasses.

Hi Lee

Looking at ‘Darkbane’s Body Building Classes’ table 10 of warrior book.
The Wizard/Warlock MC I wrote states ‘No gain’ for the life column as I saw no point in adding in life as it would be below warrior life. Can I assume it would give 2/1 as extra levels of life thus allow me to buy the above ability to gain 5/2 per level of life?

Thank you (I hope!)

This isn't the place for non-standard questions, but no. If you didn't get a life scale then ELOL's don't give you anything.
However you could buy Darkbane's and then since you can buy ELOL's (even at 0/0) buy them at 5/2.

Could you walk me through how a Paladin can buy Holy Words, as the text to me seems contradictory.

QUOTE
These abilities are [un] Holy Words. Immunity to Holy / Unholy Words applies.
• In order to learn these Holy words it is necessary for the practitioner must have purchased post 8th (base stairways do NOT count) at least one innate of all miracles on the base tree of the relevant sphere.
• When buying these abilities a specific word is assigned to the ability — that becomes the [un] Holy word.
• Thus a Paladin with major sphere Healing could learn their holy word as the following on their character card. Holy Word — Healing — "LIFE!"
• All of these words must be shouted to have any affect. They all cost 75pts each to learn, and can be learnt
at most 1/3 tables post 8th. E.g. 2nd on T6, a 3rd on t9 and 4th on T12. This is the cap even if buying from
words from different spheres.
• In addition, no same Un / Holy word may be used within 15 minutes of each other by the same shouter.

The contradiction is between these two

a.) In order to learn these Holy words it is necessary for the practitioner must have purchased post 8th (base stairways do NOT count) at least one innate of all miracles on the base tree of the relevant sphere.

and

b.) Thus a Paladin with major sphere Healing could learn their holy word as the following on their character card. Holy Word — Healing — "LIFE!"

The only related ability that would allow a Paladin to be a 'Major Sphere' anything (aside from MC Priest to 6th and paying 40pts) is the below

QUOTE
Spiritual Aptitude "Sphere"
Available to: 1st Class Paladin, 1st Class Grey Knight, 1st Class Unholy Champion Cost: 40
The character must have purchased at least 2 innates of every miracle on the chosen tree. They may now buy the priests table 6 and table 8 sphere specific abilities (See Words from Above for specific details) such as Reaching Force, Hopes Shield, or Depraved Cunning.
This may not be purchased for the characters "secondary sphere" if they should have one.
If the character later enters the priest bracket then this counts as their first major sphere.

This however still requires the Paladin to 'later enter the priest bracket' to actually obtain the 'major sphere'

Can you shed some light?

yes major healing should be with healing innates.

If you are in a Berserk Rage if someone could over come your impressive resistance levels with a Mastery or Domination effect what are the effects broadly based on what the effect does...

Beguile - I assume you would still attack them because you would attack your best friend...

Sp. Mastery - Can they order you out of the rage or just order you to attack new targets?

Possession or similar - the default position is stop and do nothing and not use any abilities so I assume this just ends the Rage?

Cheers

It depends on the domination.

Beguile you'd probably leave them alone, after all you are unlikely to consider them a threat.
Spiritual Mastery you do what you are told, but if its not very direct and obvious the rage would still be relevant.

Possession (and thrall) the puppet effect wins.

Am sure this has been asked before.

Armoured Priest says, may wear light and medium armour, they may acquire the ability to wear heavier later.

But no ability appears to be published.

However, would multi classing warrior, now allow the use of heavy armour, even though the general rules state that the disbenefits carry over of one class carry over to the other.

Thanks

it has been answered before, and it is a little more complicated.

Armour use falls into two areas.

A Character is restricted to wearing XXX (So pure priests no armour, Druids, Psi-Classes etc.). This is a class restriciton

A character has the ability to wear XXX (Priests, Wizards and most others).

The first is a restriction so multi-classing doesn't help. The second isn't, so you can.

Would a character gone spiritual mancer and then MR Spiritual Vessel, would they still be able to heal elves?

no, they would do spirit and spirit based mantic.

How do priests and using magic items work these days?

Is it:

1) They can't.
2) They can but can't use spiritual stuff while carrying
3) They don't get utilise magic item, but if they MC to something that does they're ok
4) A.N.Other option

Cheers!

As it says in the rules they don't get utilise magic item, and can't get it without entering the wizard bracket.

If you are a class that goes priest you can still use them.

If you have multiclassed into multiple warrior subclasses that an buy warrior specialist skills, can you buy a warcry from each of them?

Example, as a kallah multiclassed ranger and budoka, can you buy a warrior specialist of warcry as a ranger and a second as a budoka?

Nope, its the same skill.

Can Manaform be cast as a Grey or New Colour Spell?

It falls under the General Spell list which states they can only be cast by the non-grey elemental colours but under colour says ALL (the others say ANY).

If it can be Grey or New Colour how does the verbal work given there are only elementals for the non-grey original elemental colours?

BBB

yes it can, and use something appropriate just like the pact with the dragon verbals.

If a law abiding character immune to all forms of scrying is party killed, is the character who pk’d them still outlawed?

If an outlawed character is now immune to all scrying and is then party killed due to their outlaw status, is their killer outlawed as no one can tell the outlaw was actually outlawed?

Sorry for the number of ‘outlaw’ terms in this. I hope no one searches ‘outlaw’ now!

If you party kill someone that isn't a freebie you get outlawed.

When spending ISP, it states that you can buy an item of abilities from tables 1-9 as long as they are appropriate to the threshold of the dungeon you’re on. What it doesn’t state is whether they have to be from tables which your character could normally buy from.

I.e. if I had a warrior priest at 600 points, could he buy an item of +1 and +2 max AC from the warrior tables?

Clearly items of spell innates etc don’t follow class rules but unsure on the tables abilities side of things.

Thanks

If refs are setting it then it would be based on the table of the dungeon.
If a player is using flexi ISP (Dealer, Adventurer class etc.) then it is based on their table.

Quick question about DAC whilst bound per the spell. I've had conflicting opinions as to whether you can apply DAC against weapon blows in that scenario and would appreciate some clarity!

Thanks

Yes you can.
Broadly if you can move you can apply DAC, so a slow (for example) doesn't stop you using DAC.
The only exception to this is Gravity Well, which says you lose your DAC.

Can a grey warden buy Trust of the Spirit realm for the free 8th level miracle?

Also given that grey wardens are now just a special case of hermit priest and can be any type of priest (warrior, armoured etc.). Is it intentional that they are still excluded from buying change priestly class, or can they buy it as per a normal hermit priest?

They can, but need the ability to cast 8th level.

And it was just missed, they can buy it now if they want.

When buying innate neuronics from the class table such as para psychic or the seer one,

do the innates stack so could by N pen from both seer and mystic tables.

If you are already 1st class neuronicst do you count as 1st class for innates that say +1st class i.e. Seer going parapsychic buying a +1st class mystic innate

You buy the best of the innates, they don't stack up.

Hi Lee

If I'm building an evil stairway for an unholy champion, it says that you must have at least one of each preceding miracle on that list. It also says that you can only have miracles on the miracle list of the church to which you are aligned.

So, if (for instance) I were looking at being part of Iron and Empire as an UC with a summoning stairway, Iron and Empire have zombie, skeleton, ghoul and wraith but are missing mummy.

Could I therefore have an evil stairway that allows me to summon all of zombie, skeleton, ghoul and wraith or would I have to stop at Ghoul because there is no mummy on their list?

Thanks

Ben

It is probably not very clear.
You need to buy all of the tree (so include mummy in the example), but the general theme must follow the church (so taking a necromancy list for a Dunatis priest is out). The being on your church list is more for advanced miracles rather than parts of the basic trees.

Hi Lee

A number of questions around summonations and max AC.

If you cast something like Superplate on an elemental, how much MAC does it get (what is its max AC) or if you have a miracle that grants SAC to max AC and cast it on your ghoul, what SAC does it get?

If you have an ability that says your summonation can benefit from any worn armour, I assume this is to a max of 12 (as normal)?

(Basically, I am a Vessel of the Dead and use a Twist to become a ghoul. I am wearing plate over chain that is MC and have an ability that says all my undead get 3 DAC and 3 PAC. Am I okay saying I am in PAC 12 and DAC, max AC12?)

Thanks

The embodies undead would use your Max A/C.

Hi Lee,

The post 8th development section of Silver Folk says that they are able to buy the table 6 ability enhancements at 200pts, there is no caveat that this only applies to 1st class neuronicists, although the ability in Oraculum Insight does have the 1st class restriction.

Is a non 1st class neuronic Silver Folk able to buy the table 6 enhancement, although only for Neuronic Penetration as thats the only 1-8th they have.

Thanks,

It doesn't change their buy as, it just lets them buy earlier.
it comes form the days when the only real things on table 6 were the passive and active trees.

What about if you are on another plane when the wardpact is announced so you dont hear it?
Does the Know Foe spell make you immune to Wardpacts from the person you have cast it on?

If you are deaf you still take the pact. Likewise standing there with your fingers in your ears going lalala when you know a person is announcing a pact with you mean syou get caught by it.

Being off the plane means you are safe.

And know foe doesn't protect you as it isn't targeting you.

Hi Lee

The Shadow Daimon multirace at level 2 says: must purchase the ability" see through supernatural darkness at all times " ability before buying this level.

If I were a dwarf or other race who can already see through darkness already, do I still need to buy this?

If you have the prerequisite already (so dwarf in this case) you don't need to rebuy it.
Same is true for all similar races.

It is probably an oversight.
Witchdoctors use the witchdoctor table, but if the obvious wizard classes of:

Is it only 1st class Archers that get no max damage over 10' with MP? What about MC Archers or those that MC Archer and take it to 8th? If the answer is still no, can someone who has taken MC Archer to 8th use one of the 'Buy as 1st class slots' to get this ability? (probably pts app territory?)

Do the max damage increases a scout gets with the Military Scout tendency (Max Damage 7 @ T10) mean they can call that within 10'? I note regular 1st class archers are limited to quin within 10'.

All Archers (1st and 2nd class) get the same max damage.

Option 1. having just a handle to hold them "punch-grip"
Option 2. Attached by placing arm in strap then holding it on the 2nd strap with straps connected to a block that rests on your arm

for shields under option 2 stated above.
Due to the way that they are connected more to the arm than the hand hand do abilities like Slippery Grip, disarm, fumble like abilities stop the use of a "option 2" shield?

Reading the Spiritual Celebrant multiclass which refers to Suspend Life as a miracle releasable upon death of the caster. To this end, if someone was unconscious from a suspend life miracle, what would be the impact of the caster’s death? I am guessing they regain consciousness and have suffered 36/5

The miracle ends so you wake up, you don't take any life as that is an effect of having a resistance.

Are there general in-game disbenefits for being forced to leave a church, excommunicated, or willingly leaving a church, if different? Or is this something that is at the High Priest/ess discretion?

Thanks

Being Excommunicated causes you to lose access to all miracles on the churches list. It may be worse than this for certain churches based on peoples apps.
If you want to leave you either need the high priests permission or you are treated as if you have been excommunicated.

A couple of questions i have been meaning to ask:

If a troll goes L.2 fire demon (granting complete immunity to fire), can it make full use of this, or is it downgraded to the T.3 resistance, ie only granting 1/2 effect supernatural fire?

Alfar druids gets better life than human druids (42/ 18 at 8th),presumably because they get rec earthpower and other druidic stuff racially. Alfar forest guardians get worse life than humans (47/ 16). If this a printing error or are Alfar meant to be great druids but poor forest guardians?

Lastly, Elemental Champion, the T.9 1st class warlock ability. Does it apply to all colours possessed, or just the warlocks 1st colour?

Thanks dude!

Chris

Fire demon. No they can't, troll restriction takes precedent.

Alfar druids should have less life, its an error. I think it carries form changes to scout life. It should be 37/14 at 8th.

And elemental champion is all colours.

Who can/can't restore someone to life? People on same adventure/desk staff???

I've had it dealt with in many ways by previous GSM, but an official clarification would be good!

Also is there a place where all this sort of stuff is/should be? Or is it already all in the handbook!?
Was having a similar talk at the weekend about "stacking points apps", and I think it's important that this info is readily available for existing, but especially new players.

Thanks

If you are involved in the dungeon (on any side) you can't get involved except as characters being played on the day.
If you are desking/armouring you can't involved in dungeons on that day and stuff that comes out of them.

If we think you are abusing it then you can't do it.

Hi Lee

A couple from me that have come up recently if I may!

It says in the races book that dwarves are not adversely affected by the use of darkness or light designed to obscure normal vision. It then goes on to specify a few key spells but is this limited to those? Or is their ability more akin to the “see through all forms of supernatural darkness” ability and would cover spiritual darknesses as well?

And the Of the North guild ability immunity to all forms of cold, does this cover a wraith’s freeze touch as well?

I’ve had adamant views to the positive and negative from very experienced players so totally confused now

Thanks

For dwarves it does let you see through supernatural darkness, but also makes you immune to blinding flash and bedazzle for example.

Yes complete immunity to all forms of cold makes you immune to freeze (so of the north or winter elf for example).

Cheers

Ben

No

Lee

Posted by: Netheril Dec 6 2019, 07:46 AM

Mind over reality MR states 1/6 off all bar physical and neuronic per level. And post 6th may buy as spiritless.

Does this mean complete immunity to magic and spirit at lvl 6. Or just immune to magic and spirit damage?

Cheers,

Sean

Complete immunity at 6th.

What are the current rules on leaving a church? I cant find them in my copy of Words from Above.

you need the high priests permission and then need to put a notice up as with any other guild.
Or leave without the high priests permission and get excommunicated.

Lee

Rogues buy from the Wizards Grimoire as "Any" but extra specialists are only available to Wizard.

Thus the only way published way for a Rogue to get additional Spell Slots is to Multi-class Elemental Student for the ones it grants, as then they can then as Wizard.

Or am I missing something?

I presume that if choosing to Mulit-class Wizard you would gain a second set of 5 Specialist slots as a Wizard and could buy additional specialist for Wizard but not Rogue.

Asking for a friend.

Correct Rogues need to do something to get more specialists.
If you multi-class wizard the wizard mana replaces rogue mana, and you don't get more specialists.

What is the impact of being excommunicated please?

The base effects are you cannot cast miracles form the church list.
These may be worse depending on the church, the offence, or points apps involved.

Hi Lee.

Was just wondering. I was thinking of starting a berserker for the 250 new year's dungeon.

But I'm at a pickle because I don't know if Barbarian would work as the tribal race. It says that barbarians are as human. But do they get the MC slot off Privileged?

Just wanted to make sure as I need to know if playing a berserker would be possible for then.

Thank you.

Josh.

Barbarians aren't human for privileged.

Can you clarify for me, if you are making a spiritual item with 2 of the same miracle in it how many roles do you have to make? Let's say 2 heals? The manufacturer's guide says that would be 4 rolls so only cost 12,000 grulls, assuming they all succeed, the same price as 1 heal. This can't be right can it?

Probably an error. Its 1 success per spirit of miracles you are making. So 1 heal is 4 rolls at -4%, and 2 heals is 8 rolls at -8%.

Hi Lee, is there any general rule on buying 1st class abilities as a second class char.

E. G. I am a totally standard warrior priest who has mcd warrior. I want to buy contra mastery bustard swords.

Can I buy it a table later than the 1st class versio ? Or two tables later? Or does it require a points app?

Thanks

Standardly you can only buy 1st class abilities once you take a class to 8th level, and then you get a limited buy as (its detailed in the Classes book).

Hi Lee

Do Focused Spirit (T10) and Greatness of Spirit (T12) stack please?

If they do not stack, can you just:
A. Upgrade for 250 points
B. Get a simple 1 line points app to upgrade
C. Take the 200 point hit and buy GoS?

Thank you
Andy

They don't stack, they are different abilities not upgrades.

Lee

Can you explain why they don’t stack?

1/2 spirit and 1/2 causing stack
1/2 magic and 1/2 fire stack
1/2 fire and neuro mastery fire stack
1/2 fire and walk through fire spell stack

The rule seems to be things stack if they are slightly different

Why does 1/2 evil spirits and 1/2 evil Miracles not stack?

Just wondering

Thanks

David

yes.
In your examples, 1/2 fx spirit and magic are racial (so 1/2 spirit would stack with focussed or greatness), the last two involve temp power ups.
Resistances to causing/spirit bolt both say previous effect.

GoS and Focussed are both just flat 1/2 effects so the same sort of reduction. It is more akin to neuro mastery fire and walk through fire not stacking.

Contra Mastery Vs Weapons says "From Counter Weapon Mastery and Contra Mastery x 3....." can I confirm that you only need 1 Counter Mastery not 3?

I dont think it is possible to buy more than 1 counter anyway?

That being said it also says that you cannot buy both counter and contra mastery - but you have to to get contra vs weapons?

You only need one counter mastery.
The contra mastery error was clarified a couple of years ago, it is a misprint from an older version of it. I think it has been changed in the latest books.

So, a sorcerer MC's wizard.

He gains the wizards colour as a first colour, and can buy 2nd (and third) colour as wizard, right? Or am i getting a bit @Ryan Kelly here?

Second colour isn't asterixed so you can only buy it once. So you could get 3 colours plus sorcery, not get sorcorial second colours as well as wizards.

Hi Lee

Do the 12 spirits you can gain as the major power from Angel Touched cost life to use? They are racial and racial innates typically do not cost life but they are a power pool rather than innates so it isn’t clear

Thanks

They do cost life as they are raw power.

So yay, more "discussions" been ongoing about mantics.

Only thing I've not been sure about is shields.

Ive always thought a warrior without utilise spirit can still use a mantic shield to block a purely spiritual attack?

Likewise an elf can use a magic shield to block a purely mantic attack.

Based on shields basically being the same as AC items and not needing the utilise skill?

Is this correct?

Cheers,

Sean

Broadly correct. Don't over think it too much.

What happens if a wizard reads a teaching scroll and then buys an ability later that means they lose the ability to read them?
I would have thought logically you read it and then have learnt the spell, so if later you lose the ability you don’t ‘forget’ what you have learnt, but some reliable folks have said it doesn’t work that way...

Thanks

They lose them.

On Table 10 both Mystics and seers can buy enlighten thoughts, which allows them to cast a 1st - 8th lvl inate 1 per 15 mins without using the innate, does that innate need to be a class innate from mystic or seer or ant neuronic innate the the payer gets 1st to 8th?

It needs to be a class innate from that class.

Lee

Posted by: fatteacher Jan 28 2020, 07:23 PM

Maybe obscure, maybe ‘don’t overthink it’ or maybe an easy answer:

Character has perm rage vs undead. Monster/NPC is undead but immune to scrying. Does the rage kick in or not?

Same monster/NPC. Character has 6 points off undead, does this work as the monster seems to fight like an undead?

Same again but character inflicts +1 grade of damage vs undead. Does this still happen as again the monster fights like an undead?

Thank you

So:
1) Kicks in if you engage the undead in combat
2) It applies
3) It applies

Lee

Posted by: JonMace Jan 28 2020, 08:28 PM

Destructive Thoughts, on T10 for Mystic says they can use 1 1st - 8th ability once per 15 mins does this need to be from the mystic list or could it be a racial neuronic innate?

Or if MCed to another neuronic class could it be a 1st -8th innate from that class?

It has to be from mystic.

1) For priests and spirit-using warriors (Pal/GW/AP), their ability to utilise spirit weapons/armor is always tied to the item having an alignment which is compatible.

However, the Manufacturers Guide (looking at 4.1 of 2014) shows that adding alignment to a spirit weapon/armor is a "Major" manufacture, rather than just a "Minor" manufacture.

Does that mean that a character with only Make Minor Spirit Item can produce unaligned spirit weapon/armor?
Or does it mean that Make Minor Spirit Item is unusable without also having Make Major Spirit Item?
Or does it mean that Make Minor Spirit item can be always be used to make weapons/armor of the crafters own alignment, and Make Major is required to make spirit items of either of the other two alignments?

Does Words From Above clarify this?

2) Can an evil or good character use a Neutral Spirit weapon/armor?
Can a neutral character use Good or Evil spirit weapon/armor?
Or is it always only possible to use a spirit weapon/armor of your own alignment?

Thanks

By default manufactured weapons/armour/shields are neutral.
Priests can utilise their own miracles of alignments normally. So a goodly priest good and neutral, evil priest is evil and neutral, and a neutral priest depends on what they have.

Isn't it a system rule that any temp life that lasts 24 hours doesn't go over Life Cap?

If it lasts more than 24 hours. Basically if it is so long it carries into the next day.

this shouldn't be seen as a way to abuse things or blag however.

On the September 3 day last year and again on your campaigns this year you have posted the following for your (and therefore the system's in my mind smile.gif ) standard damage calls:

Thru - Thru PAC, if the weapons pure then goes thru MAC/SAC etc as relevant
Predicted - Ignored DAC
Regardless - Both of the above.
Necro - Can do Spirit damage
'Mantic - Can't do spirit damage

What would be the call for mantic that can't do magic damage (a non-pathed spirit user wielding a mantic weapon)?

Thanks

Nibs

I have no idea. It probably needs one. So if anyone has an idea then I'm all ears.
Just like we probably need a term for Neutral angel/demonkind (which I have for the new handbook) and a few other things.

If in magic / spiritual / neuronic LTM do you have to be healed by that power base to regain consciousness?

Or can you still be healed by other power bases as not actually fully immune to them, just tblp?

People are over complicating it.
You can be healed normally because the power base still effects you and heals you normal life, which is what you need healed.

Trolls may not acquire more than +3 DAC. Does this mean that:

a - Trolls are capped at 3 DAC, and cannot benefit from any more in any way
b - Trolls may only purchase the first 3 points of DAC from the tables, but can benefit from bonus DAC from elswhere (Guilds, Bless/Curse/Watchings, Items etc.)
c - Mystery Third option.

Thanks,

Just to understand this properly...

I think I read:

Can have 3 DAC
_And also_ benefit from a bless
_And also_ benefit from guilds/items

So Bob the Troll gains 3DAC from tables, 2 from a bless/chosen, 1 from Front Line, and gains an item of +1DAC, then Bob can use 3 (capped) +2, +1, +1 = 7 DAC

(I had expected the opposite: you have 7 DAC but this is capped after other calls to allow you only to benefit from 3)

Do I have this right (DAC7 in this case)?

Al

Yes. The restriction is a buy as restriction not a "Cannot have more than" restriction.

Enhanced Passwall–Passwall is now at will, this costs 6 TBLP per use.

Mastery of Passwall–One use of passwall now allows the Samila to walk through earth/stone walls (this includes worked stones) for 5 minutes.

Because Ryan won't shut up about this - the above are the standard (and possibly over powered for points costs) abilities that Samila can buy, I assume because they are in 29/9 and can do very little.

To my reading - the first ability grants pass wall @will, the second enhances it so that it grands walk through walls for 5 mins. As the commonly accepted wording for 1/day powers is as an example:

Physical Beguile1/day–As per the miracle, but requires 60 seconds talking to the target to activate.

And the wording for at will ablites is this:

Mastery of the Touch–Use of the touch now only causes the loss of ½ a level. When successfully used it additionally causes 12 points of magical cold baseddamage to the location touched and the equivalent TBLP (4 hits to monsters).

I have interpreted this to be an at will ability but as Ryan was sad about his fire Goblin he doesn't think it works this way.

It saddens me a little. It is one use, so just a badly worded once a day.

So,

"City Positions"
How are these gained/allocated!?

Cc's or the Governor or correct responsible person just saying it's so!?

Yes.
Broadly the Governor/relevant person can appoint people.
If you want to escalate, or the Governor doesn't like you, then you can do a CC contract to put pressure on the person. If they refuse to appoint you then bad stuff happens to them. This will only work with vacant positions, or those under threat though.

Hey Lee,

Immunity to info fx, what should you’d say in response to someone using a info power on you? For years I thought it was ‘No Answer’ but recently was told the answer should just be ‘No’

What should we be declaring if we’re fully immune to info fx?

Thanks

Jack

Depends on the effect but "No" is likely to be right.
And there isn't a "No Answer" because often by default No and No Answer are the same.

Something like "kill who" or "there isn't a way" depending on it was asked, and if you can see them.
