Opal, a slender pale faced individual came south with a small contingent of Circle Members a few months ago. He stands at 6ft on the nose, and is commonly dressed in flowing silk robes. From his belt hang a few pendents - some red clay beads, a scorched wooden dove, a shard from a broken horn. His voice is slightly melodic and has a reassuring fullness to it when he speaks.

Opal takes a few days finding his place in the baronies. Those lacking in charity might say the man seemed overwhelmed by the stark architecture of the place, the grotesque crenelations, the dark stone. He is, however, never vocally anything but impressed. He asks a lot about the culture of the South and seems utterly taken with the contempt that is shown to what he refers to as "Entities" which seems to encompass the gods, dragons and anything else that might fall into that category.

One morning, he calls for a meeting to discuss his family, their place and their plans. He asks for a goblet of milk and explains their situation to those able to find the time to come.

"My Grandfather is something of an, investor. He has exceptional insight into what exactly is going to be the next big powerhouse and quite a lot of children. So our job is pretty simple really. There's about a dozen of us who are tasked with hunting out and finding these entities while they're small, getting them to sign something with us and then we sit back and wait. Eventually, that pact is worth vast amounts, sometimes we sell them on, sometimes we give them to a family member as a reward. Basic point is that we have a deal with something vastly more potent than would think about giving us the time of day if we approached it now."

He pauses and empties the goblet he has been handed.

"In regards to our specific hunt you interrupted, these things are a bit odd. We call them Aspects. Conceptually, we've known about them for a very long time, but we weren't expecting them to wake up any time soon. They're... well its hard to say. Theyre something like a place spirit, but more sporadic. Untamed. And they are growing ever so rapidly. We know of 4 at the moment - There is one in your cities ruins to the north, the largest so far. the one you freed from our chambers appears to have travelled north, but to precisely where we cannot say. Two more exist, there is one beneath the sea to the west of your empire we expect to see soon - within a month or so - and one in the far north who may take longer to manifest. They seem to be tied to primal aspects of the world."

At this point, Opal rises from his seat and takes a position gazing out of a small, dirty window.

"They dont like structure. They dont like cities. I might even go so far as to say they dont like people."

He turns back to face the group.

"They are going to tear this plane to pieces and make something... something feral."

This almost seems to shake him, but he quickly regains his compusure.

"Do you have any questions?"

Opal, these things seem both dangerous and useful. What is your intent?
I feel that we need to ensure they do not pose a threat to the baronies, but as tools to be used they could be of great worth.

Letting them wander free seems to be the main issue, perhaps there is a way to shake and bind them?

There are too many of these creatures for my family to invest in. We have a limited number of resources, so will be working on the two already manifest - we have longer to work on them, it seems the way to do things.

We believe that their nature is malliable - at least for now. After the dawn, who knows. Plausably, with a bit of work, you could find a way to settle one down. The one that has taken root in the ruins of Ickybiggle, we believe, is an example of this. How this would occur for each seperate one would be harder to predict.

The one you freed, we had a plan for. It was to be turned into an guardian. A creature with that much rage could be well harnessed, directed against our enemies - My family have long had clashes with the Church of Mortai (Having met my butler, you can imagine why) and would quite liked to set it out next time the paladins come breaking down a door. It could, plausably, still be a plan, although capturing it, now it is grown would be a greater work than we would have wanted. It'd have to be set guarding somewhere natural, at least in its current state, we were considering the mountains where you first encountered us.

Opal.
