Griffin Isle: Trinkets of the Gods

"Trinket: a small ornament; a thing of little value."

Merriam Webster

Being an interactive story told in multiple parts set in a place that can be quietly forgotten if things go badly.

Betrayal, murder, a god with an attitude problem, ego-stroking, all-powerful artifacts, time travel, redemption and, naturally, the end of all things™

All of which brings us to encounter one.

Written and run by the Ellis Brothers, the team that brought you "Oh my god, the house is on fire! Oh wait, we left the smoke machine on".

If they can get over their "creative differences", that is.

Coming Spring 2010, circa Max 500, depending on interest. Please let us know by replying.

“Trinket", noun: Small ornament, an item of little value
Oxford English Dictionary

"If the Blue Mana Dragon did have a trove of treasure she didn't want, don't you think I would know about it? Now knock it off, I'm retired. RETIRED."
George, Elemental Lord of Lightning

"Sure, it exists. And the Windsword too. Just like the 'Daggers of Light and Truth' and 'The Swords of Wayland'! Hilarious. The very idea is laughable.”
Jander Sunstar

“I'll ask them if you like. But they tend to get a bit annoyed being asked to confirm the existance of a children's story. The spirits are like that."
Watching Owl

Who knows how you first heard the legend of Griffin Isle and it's remarkable treasure, but it's driving you to distraction. Funny thing is, it's not in any official record. No book, map or encyclopedia. No Seer can pinpoint it's location, no spell or device so far wrought has told you any more than you currently know: It doesn't exist.

In fact, it's enough to put you off, if it wasn't for your dreams; A Griffin, it's ivory wings tipped with silver, wheeling high about a mountain made of solid gold, a bronze key pulsing with energy around it's neck. And in the distance, always just out of vision, something black as ebony sackcloth. Terrible. And waiting.

Griffin Isle: Trinkets of the Gods
A land without heroes just got some. You. Good luck everybody.

Coming Spring 2010, depending on interest

Creative differences allowing.

thanks for the responses all.

We're looking at kicking this off mid March (14th or 21st depending on other bookings) due to constraints on free time (read the wives won't let us play Saturdays) this will be a Sunday run campaign.

Quite selfishly perfect for me as I can only do Sundays. Although, luckily not due to wife related issues... :-)

Really good initial Sales post! Very keen to play.

Items you say...

Posted by: EvilSanta Jan 17 2010, 08:48 AM

It'd be good to get likely characters from people who are interested, so I can include character specific ideas in the writing process. Doesnt need to be hard and fast yet, but characters with a background (if even only a few lines) will get more out of it.

keep your eyes peeled for more sales pitches next week smile.gif

For me it will truly depend on the booked threshold of the dungeon as I will then be able to work out if I am playing something existing in character wallet or "new".

The last campaign was max table 12 so anywhere south of that works.

Seriously though and not to cop out, but we'll be guided by the players. We were thinking somewhere around max 250 or 500. We could do more or less, depending on what people want. We'd even toyed with straight 8

As a straw-man, how does max 250 work for people?

Posted by: OldSchool Jan 17 2010, 08:39 PM

This sounds good to me, and the 2 char's I have are 0 pts and 250 pts. So the low pts cap is good for me, and I can only play Sundays too smile.gif

Posted by: Stuart Jan 18 2010, 07:52 AM

250 would be good for me.

Ditto. Again with the Sundays.

Not too keen on sending backgrounds and getting all excited until I know I'm booked on... Looks like this will fill up quick! :-)

EEEKKKKK TRINKETS .... MY TRINKETS......

500 points would be better for me

List of possible toons :-
Lizard man Green/Brown wizard (@500pts)
Human Wytch (Speacially created toon) (@300)
If it is 250 then i might have to create something

Take care and very much looking forward to it.

Alan

Kick off for this is 21st March, currently set as max 250 but this is open to discussion/change but will be confirmed in plenty of time. At this point I wanted to get a date in the diary for people.

its all set in the event diary so go book on!

Also booked - as the witch has not spent over 250 - probably be playing him or ill be playing a wizard that has a points app that means i dont have to learn mana runes ohmy.gifP
I struggle with english at times ohmy.gif)

Wytch - AP life - may only ever use a B-sword wear up to studded leather
has a AP style list of blesses and curses - is NN in alignment
Basically a 2nd rank warrior that can FUBAR one or two monsters a day.

But i'd like to start a mage of sorts but something different not just a human/elf etc mage as i'd like to be a bit more interesting - however hard that might sound.

Anyway booked on and have 6-7 weeks to decide....

Take care
Alan

Trinket, noun: A small ornament; a thing of little value
OED

“Hush now, it’s just a tale we tell to frighten children; ‘Be good or the Labyrinthian’s will get you’ … like the Slarge under the stairs … or the Night Talon at the window”
Serena, Harlot of the Veiled Lady, Nidik

“Oh they exist alright, they even have their own circle within the thirteen rings of damnation. When I pass over I plan to go there and show they what we’ve been practising these last 500 years”
Morning-Kill, Vigilant-in-extremis, Night Talon.

“The Labyrinthians will come again. And this time we wont be so lucky.”
Var, Lord Knight, Tools of Fate. Last words (attributed)

According to the Votanki, something evil is coming to the Island. But the Votank are people of the wilds… common folk. You know, morons. And they’ve been wrong before, haven’t they?

In fact, the nightmares – the key, the abyss, the Labyrinthians – were probably due to some off colour mutton you had for supper last night. And the night before. And every night this year. Right? RIGHT?

The Labyrinthians are coming. Gods help us all.

ALL: Thanks to you all for the level of interest. We're going to work very hard between now and the dungeon to make sure we repay your faith in us.

Players: If you're booked on, please can you PM Jonny (forum ID: Noj) your character class and little bit of background. How much is up to you.

Crew: Thanks, sincerely. Copies of the first draft dungeon should be ready for reviewing by the end of next week. We can then start deciding on certain specific parts.

Posted by: giles Jan 20 2010, 11:31 PM

Max 250 ideal for me - prolly playing some sort of priest - background on its way smile.gif cheers

Giles.

I see that this is now fully booked. So what is every one thinking of playing?

I have 2 options a scout with potion making skills or a warrior. I don't mind playing either but I am not the young kid I used to be and fighting all day has already got my muscles moaning...

I have a couple of options too, just waiting for some apps back.

One is a witch, but black mana instead of spirits.

One is a mystic, with a set of more 'crowd control' neuronics rather than dominations/offense.

Will see!

Thinking about 101st warrior at the moment - LN, Human etc.

Probably playing a fire alfar red wizard. More boomboom than utility.
