So, I've had a letter from Francis the verger at our shrine at the Rest, the which says he's been sent a letter asking after a Roderic Falk, from his aunt Tilly. Only Francis hasn't ever heard of Roderic, although it looks like his family think he's there.
I've never heard of the fellow, he's not one of the Falk-Champions from the County of Ash, who were all a bit strange and related to the hero Falk, who's dead and gone a long time, so. Can anyone scry, maybe find out a bit more about what's going on here? Like to find the fellow if he's lost. And it would be a good thing to go see his people, make them a shrine like they've asked, if anyone can see fit to taking on the job there. Tavis Dear Tavis Bit odd this. We got a couple of letters addressed to a priest at the shrine we’ve never heard of. Not sure what to do with them or if something weird is going on we should worry about – any advice please? Have you ever heard of Roderic Falk? Regards Francis, Verger of The Rest Shrine Dear Roderic I hope you are properly settled in now and you are studying the scriptures hard. Perhaps you might soon be able to write and let us know how you are? Have you spoken to Mistress Tavis about letting you found a shrine in our little village one day? His lordship has agreed to pay for both the building and a salary, so long as the priest tends the sick, teaches the youngsters their letters and some morals, and is willing to do weddings & funerals. He’s quite keen on the idea if they can find a priest who doesn’t mind a quiet backwater like ours. Anyway I’m sure a bright young man like you is doing very well in the big city – do make sure you have some fun too. Love Aunt Tilly PS Please write to your mother though – I know she’s being silly about it but she does worry about you |

Tavis,
I hope I'm not intruding, but I've been puzzling over something very similar and got the feeling I should be talking to you about it when I went to start scrying. Tai sent me these this afternoon, and it sounds almost entirely the same. I'm combing the letters presently for codes and ciphers but haven't spotted any obvious ones yet. The one clear link is geographical, since they are all supposedly meant to go to people in the Rest. I've had a look here in the map room for threats in the area, but all that's come across my desk is a pile of notices of unlicensed hires. Perhaps I'm bringing you more questions than answers, but, well. At least we can be confused together. Penny -- Guildhouse Postroom 12th Orgus To the Lord Knight Sir Sorry to bother you with a trivial matter of paperwork but we don’t really know what to do. Last couple of months we’ve had quite a lot of letters come in like the ones I enclose below. They seem perfectly normal, but they’re all to people what don’t exist! Only thing they have in common is the folks writing all seem to live in the south, like Selaville or Thimon Names we’ve had people trying to contact in the last month include - Johnny Gravelest, Durthag, Milo ‘the Mighty’, Big Borin, Yenaflec, Umo Demonslayer a.k.a. Lawrence Scrubb, Paradion of Thimon, Herodius Do we try to write back or can we just bin them and forget about it? Yours Sincerely William Filler -- Dear ‘Umo’ Great news. Dad says he’ll give me the money to travel to The Rest and join up as soon as we get the harvest in. Hope to see you in Septus. Guess you’ll be a proper knight by then and get to boss me around a bit. How’s the training going? Are you a fearless sword-master yet? Like you might guess, there’s not a lot going on at home, dull as hell here like always. Hope you’re having fun in the city, I’ll be there in a month or two. Lucas -- Durthag Knights let in Uz now or tell to [----] off? Let know and I travel if yiss Smarg -- Dear Milo I hope you are training hard and making a good name for yourself. Always remember, believe in yourself and you can make anything happen. Be careful though, make sure you stick to the mid-week hires until you are big and powerful. I’ve knitted some extra socks for you so you don’t catch cold. Love Mummy -------------------- - Rebecca

Francis is a priest of Unity, who resides at our shrine within the Rest. He tends to the shrine, heals the sick and occasionally goes on mercenary missions for the right cause. He needs no specific aid from us, but as a mercenary could always use a spiritual mace or perhaps some scriptures.
Roderick Faulk is a novice priest of the faith. He was travelling to the Rest to study and train further. He is a good person, who helps all he can regardless of who they are. The Spirits last saw him at the Sword in Hand Inn, which is a days journey south of the Rest. The spirits cannot perceive his current location. The mysterious letters to the Lord Knight, they were all coming to the city to sign up as trainee knights. None of them, however actually made it to the Rest. The letters are from their various friends and family who expect them to be residing within the city. We should look for these missing people. We should begin at the last spot they were seen safe before they vanished. This was at the milestone near the sword in hand tavern. We should then proceed to work back towards the city from there. The inn is run by some retired Knights, and is all fine and as it should be. The spirits can connect the following to the people who have gone missing. - They all came from the south of the Empire - They all have vitae - All were young and keen but not very experienced - All were travelling to the city for training from either the Church of Unity, or the Knights of the Land - Some are now in Ishma, some are in the Brandins, others cannot be found. The above is all ascertained from the Angels of Wisdom. While scrying - I did have a flash of psychic insight. The clan of Tabitha Candleshadow took scrying very seriously and warded themselves heavily against such. When we last gathered, we found out from those hunting her that there were some of the clan near Mordred's Rest. I am required elsewhere, and as such will not be able to scry further until we meet Starsday. Let the Blessings of the Virtues of love, faith, peace, courage and mercy be with you all. Remstar |

The place you're talking about is Blackwillow Farm, Remstar - where the clan are. It's a little way south of the city. I didn't mention it because it didn't seem related, but frankly I wouldn't be surprised if they were involved in the disappearances. It seems to be their sort of thing.
We'll come along on Starsday, of course. Penny -------------------- - Rebecca

Dear all,
My apologies for the delay in sending this over; the recent attacks within Sellaville have taken much of my attention of late. It is nothing lengthy, merely the list of "acquisitions" and my notes on the locations the tree was kind enough to share, along with the codewords necessary to activate it - for future reference. Penny ~~ Recent Acquisitions Yenaflec Sold to Zabbanial the Sizzling, Pasha of the Efreeti for his pleasure Milo 'the Mighty' Sold to Zabbanial the Sizzling, Pasha of the Efreeti for his pleasure Lawrence Scrubb Sold to Count Konrad for future use Paradion of Thimon Sold to Count Konrad for future use Johnny Gravelest Sold to Teran Truemind for 'research' (walk up sale) Big Borin Sold to Zabbanial the Sizzling, Pasha of the Efreeti for his pleasure Herodius Sacrificed to the Fel'Wathen, may darkness shroud his path Roderic Falk TBD Durthag To sacrifice - the Count won't want him, nor will the Pasha ~~ The transport tree's pass phrase: May the bad man bring them misfortune Dark serpent crush their will Let the eternal maw devour them May the spirit owl murder them in silence ~~ The transport tree's locations: A palace in Ishma made of brass with glowing coals. Guarded by efreeti. A castle in the Brandin Mountains that looks, frankly, like the most stereotypical vampire you can imagine (with correspondingly awful taste) decorated it. A tree within a courtyard that may be near Keys. A tree in the garden of a monastery. -------------------- - Rebecca
