Hi Guys
Just wondering whether anyone out there makes items which aren't spells/miracles/evocations etc but rather affect base stats like strength or even some of the tables abilities. I'd love to get an item of strength - stacking or non stacking - but haven't seen anything like that mooted before. I'm assuming therefore not but thought I'd check as I've only recently heard about Gordon's rather awesome boots! Cheers Ben |

It's on my list of things to get too.
No one can make it that I am aware of. Simon Power as Creed has a long list of things he can do such as 1/2 fx Colours of Magic. A few people can make items of Casting Stamina. My issue is with 2k sunk into makes already I can easily sink another 2-3k however in order to survive dungeons and play to get points I need to concentrate on actual on dungeon abilities for a while. -------------------- Gordon Court

I have a handful of interesting things passed and ready to buy. The big two are bracers of 1 to sever (on the arms) and staves that grant you defensive technique. Watch this space!

Generally these are physical makes so being immune to F & B would preclude these benefits... I can make a large lung capacity item and other bits but the other comments are right, it's a huge investment in CPs.

Seems like crafting point apps maybe should be handled differently - true spending points (permanent removal) so you don't go up thresholds while spending 1-2k in points on non-dungeon related skills. Or maybe an app that makes all your non-standard off-dungeon crafting abilities free - but they maintain table threshold requirements and can only get 1 signed on per full day of active play. Don't know if Lee would go for that but seems reasonable with all the work gone into encouraging player crafting since the old days.

It's just a balancing act if you want to play the character of retire it and use other ways of getting them points to expand your repertoire.
For me I started making weapons because it was in my background and due to a cool Shadow Legion Guild Dungeon where I got a Weaponsmith who was hiring us to take me on as an apprentice. As time went on I realised I had more weapons than I could really use and went into Armour. But I started making Magical Weapon, then Spiritual Weapons, then Physical and from there eventually Mantic so I am covering three power bases in one character. But I specifically explored the ability to make things to fill gaps and weaknesses of being a Warlock and a Priest with no spirits. If starting again I would approach things differently, but I specifically tried to do things from a class that isn't set up to do any of this. Crafting is just another type of specialisation if you do it at the expense of everything else you have a specialised character that sometime just doesn't line up with a dungeon. It's about striking a balance and currently I am happy with how I have landed. We have an infinite post 8th system so there is always something left to explore and like any rabbit hole once you start down it you find more to explore. -------------------- Gordon Court

Makers tend to have loads of items that they have either made themselves or bought with all the grulls they get from making.
It does balance out in the longer run. David |

Unique crafting skills have to be super highly regulated to stop massive early game power creep and ensuring that you need to weave them into a casters spend feels like its important to limiting how much you can do as a single character. Agreed, I ran a campaign where Lee was playing his crafter. Multiple people were total heal capped via items and Lee's innates looked like power pools. It's a different way to play as you need to spend your profit but can be very strong.

Was almost embarrassing when, between items bought with grulls from makes and a cool rebirth, I had better basic stats at 300pts than when I permed at 3k...
