Fog hung in the air as the sun disappeared behind the horizon. An omen, some would say. But Anna-Lee Newman was not the superstitious type. No, she knew exactly where her beliefs lay and she knew that as she entered this sacred resting place, the heroes of long past would be watching over her.
It had become a ritual, almost. To enter the resting place of heroes fallen and tend to their graves, especially her husband's and her son's. It still felt as bitter sweet ten years on as it did when the night that they died. Consumed in her own thoughts, she swaggered past the graves that once held bodies. Oblivious to the disturbed earth around her that used to house the bones of dead heroes. Heroes from Windrush Grove, her home. But this eve, she felt particularly saddened. She longed to hold her husband and son just one more time. Tears misted her vision as she came upon her husband's grave. Reaching down to place the single red rose, she froze. Heart racing, head spinning, she let out the most gut-wrenching scream. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
