Just to qualify that comment.

I mentioned to Phil that his daughter is in the right age range to be a possible and potential wife for my son, he mentioned that if my son was willing to wait till he was 35, then he would be happy to introduce his daughter him when she was 30... Yes that officially makes him an iranian.

30, sounds downright permissive to me.

The thing is, you need a licence to buy a shotgun. Whereas you can get an axe from B & Q without even a beep from the self-service till.

Giles.

Not true; the check out manager needs to verify that you are over 18, like with alcohol.

I just assumed Giles was going to Shop lift the axe (Hence there being no beep!), I don't think you need to get your ID checked for Shoplifting!

Buy the axe and the alcohol at the same time for reasons of efficiency.

To try to moderate my fatherly instincts I try to inform myself by using a variety of appropriate and measured parenting DVDs.

Well funny as it seems both of my girls know that at the age of 30 that can start dating and at the age of 35 they can even hold hands.

Speaking more on the truthful side my oldest will not bring her boyfriends home to meet me for some reason and Jack Cotter is barred for life from going anywhere near my girls forever.

I was in B&Q yesterday (not buying an axe) - the check out 'manager' was eleven (I am exaggerating) and didn't treally understand what was going on (not exaggerating).

Fortunately I am over 18.

i have now spent a life time to prepare for this moment. what moment the one where a Boy/man knocks on my door and asks for my daughter even at 30-40...

the prep..
1) 25 yrs Muay Thai = 1 blk belt plus some little tags,
2) 20 yrs Lau Gar (Kung Fu) family style no belt move up wen u beat the next in line up !!
3) Trained thanks to our loverly goverment on how to hurt (err i mean control people) and leave no marks and if i do know what to say....
4) have a house with a lake outside the back Door.

of course none of the above statement is true, and im in an old and decrepid state and would not have the strength or abilty to hurt anyone, and the CCTV on that day was broken he never came to my house.
