The Primal Calendar

Seasons of the Year

Plague (Spring)
Sunner (Summer)
Harvest (Autumn)
Deathly (Winter)

The seasons on Primus:
The nature of the seasons as they exist, at least within the Empire, is a result of the orders of the Sallow Prince Weavers. It appears that at one time the seasons existed as chaotic warring spirits. However The Weavers cherished order and as such ordained that each season would have a turn to be in ascendance, that they would share equal amounts of the year and that they would follow on in a consistent order. The young spirit of Primus follows that order but there is no subtlety to it, the seasons do not blend but seem to change within days, maybe even within hours of the appointed moment.

Whether the spirits of the seasons still exist or walk in unknown corners of Primus is mere conjecture but there are those powerful amongst the tribes ritualists who claim to have the power to call forth the seasons as they will or have mastery of them. Such fanciful claims and the existence of such great rites have however been proven to possibly have some basis. The years that The Circle enacted Turbulence rites to enforce a Winter lasting a years to hold back the Blauze and minions of The Spiter in what is now The Sunless Lands being a prime example of this. The Blauze, The Fire Angels, being natives of a hot world, were not able to tolerate the cold and the advance of their armies was stopped whilst the Empire and Baronies were able to begin to formulate a response to the threat they posed.

The current order of the seasons and how they are named is as follows:

Plague ~ 1st Februar to 31st Aiprus
This season is well named, for whatever reason Pestilence stalks the land, sometimes quite literally, taking physical personification, wiping away the chaff that new life might flourish. The personifications of Pestilence in recent years have reflected the nature of the places so affected.

Sunner ~ 1st Maii to 31st Jurrle
This season is hot and sultry, it is the time when armies wage war. The roads are no longer frozen solid, as in the Deathly, or mires from the plague. It is the time when the living, is indeed, somewhat easy. It is a time when trade between cities is at its greatest and where the objects crafted by the peons during the long nights of the deathly season are sold and the economies of the cities grow and thier treasuries swell.

Harvest / Fat ~ 1st Orgrus to 31st Octuar
Primus is at its most bounteous and crops and herds are gathered for use against the rest of the year.

Deathly ~ 1st Noveas to 31st Januar
This season is aptly named. It is intolerably cold and death is ever present for those caught away from shelter. Even the notoriously hardened vitae laden mercenaries do not stray far from their homes and almost never leave the labyrinth of caves that seem to honey comb Primus to venture the overland surfaces of a frozen Primus.
