So I have a Grey Knight MC Spirit Warrior, B class, skirmisher.

I am not there yet (points) but keen to work out how best to give about buffing weapon skills. I have damage grades covered enough, and want a route to (enhanced) counter mastery of all weapons (or similar).

Am thinking a MC anchored around Weapon Master (lots of restrictions which make sense to enter into) and use this as a basis to then get to something like ‘buy as first class warrior for sword based skills: counter/contramastery (etc)

The other option is simply to do a weapon based MC with a 1pt/level non-stacking damage reduction (as counter/contramastery... or indeed DAC based)

Am interested to know what others have done / think before putting pen to yellow paper. Comments welcomed! And appreciate starting from 1st class Monk/Kensai/Warrior should be easier and cheaper for this sort of thing...

Thanks

Alasdair

M/C Warrior to 8th

Use your 1st Class Warrior buy as slots to buy Contra, Contra all Weapons then Contra to 9pts.

Easiest way especially when not bracket pure.

What was your thoughts on going spirit warrior?

You could just buy the ability that lets you buy as 1st class warrior?

Dependant on your grey knight tree I would possibly think of some X now does Y to give you some power ups.

Gordon, would that work?

I thought contra swords, contra daggers and contra maces would all be different skills for the purposes of 1st class but as, despite the noble stamina example?

Sorry for highjack, been wondering if that works for a couple of my characters. If it does post 8th warrior, then I agree that’s the best idea.

I would have avoided going Spirit Warrior tbh - as Rich mentioned - you could have got buy as 1st Class Warrior. Will be more difficult having left the Warrior bracket. Did you have something in mind for Spirit Warrior?
Now you're in the Priest bracket - AC12, Forearm Parry & try and get Total Heal via Spirit Warrior - probably preferable to Contra to 9pts. What points are you looking to play up to? As Chris says - counter/contra will get cut through the higher you get - whereas Total Heal is good at all levels /points. Possilby consider Angel Touched for damage reductions?

Giles.

Also as a B class warrior subclass you can get 12 / 6 / 3 defensive combat on T.10

I would use a multiclass to gain +3 stacking with this to a maximum of 12. However it is more difficult as you have left the bracket.

Thanks,

Peter

For 1st Class Warriors Contra Mastery is a * Starred ability. When you use a 1st class buy as for a starred ability e.g. Adrenal Surge you can buy them all without using additional slots, hence it works. It's the same ability "Contra Mastery" just versus a separate weapon.

Hmmm, it isn't actually * starred though. It just says in the ability - "In a change 1st class warriors, 1st Class Kensai/Blademasters, 1st Class Monks, and Battlemasters may buy contra mastery as many times as desired."

Interesting one! If Gordon's interpretation is correct it definitely helps me out with a build. I've been reading it as seperate abilities each time.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it counts as an asterisked ability now as it can be bought as many times as you want.

... but beware that contra to 9pts is NOT for ALL your contra masteries unless you pts app it.

It is if you buy the ability on the higher table.

Thanks for comments.

Spirit warrior is... for total heal.

So prob the best route is to increase distancing. A MC with some downsides (weapon master am thinking) to get +3/+3/+3 distancing (capped to post 8th table perhaps, and system limit of 12) seems like the sensible thing.

And I agree: contra mastery is a starred ability for first class warriors/monks/(?)kensai. (Haven't got the books with me, but have always read into the latest rules this way).

Cheers,

Alasdair
