To the general mercenary population,
Be aware, in recent Weeks the threat of Ruin has re-awoken. The Runed Great Axe of King Sharmyn is the most potent weapon against these creatures, but it location is unknown since the mercenary muster which attempted to thwart Ruin’s rise. I would ask that it be located and made available so that it may be used against this dangerous threat Midarcanus Warden of St Michael |

Midarcanus,
A blow was struck at Ruin not two weeks ago, a ritual strike empowered by Ruin was turned against its own place of power near to Scarlene along with a fair amount of information that has already been passed to those best placed to weld it against them. If we are able to locate this Relic, we will inform you and arrange to have it placed within your hands. Karalis Naves, High Priest, Church of Primal Darkness. |

I was supposed to be able to attend the gathering you spoke of, and was very involved in organising the reforging of this axe. Unfortunately minions of Ruin struck me down and prevented my attending so I am unsure what transpired. ((I had my appendix out instead!!))
I believe Marlowe, of your faith, should be able to confirm exactly what happened with the axe. But the hearsay I have heard is that it ended up in the safekeeping of Tangle of Deci. I hope this helps, Sirac Drakeson |

Aye up - this axe was reforged by the clan Earthsunder on Starsday 3rd Noveas IM1019 and handed over to the St Michael Church - sorry I do not recollect 'exactly' who I handed this to but I would urge you to look within your own flock laddy as to its whereabouts - if it helps they were high up in the faith (sorry to be so vague !)

Let’s put this one to bed, shall we...
The Runed Great Axe of King Sharmyn is the property of the city of Deci. It was claimed in recompense for the heroic efforts to thwart the machinations of Ruin across Primus at the last muster, at great personal cost to myself. If Ruin is truly raising its head as a threat then such a powerful weapon will need to be kept in mine and my kallah’s hands should our glorious and fair City be attacked once more. We will not leave Deci undefended. However, I am not disagreeable to the notion of another group borrowing it on a temporary basis. This would require a sizeable deposit of either one million grulls or unpersonalised artefacts of a similar value. These would of course be refunded to said group upon safe return of the Axe. Yours Tangle City Spirit of Deci |

Indeed the threat of Ruin is very much alive. The northern baronies are suffering from outbreaks of ruined forces regularly, and as such the mercenary community should push forth into removing the forces of ruin.
I am willing to tackle these problems with other mercenary bands, Karsh, the nameless, Midicarnus, Sushi and another fellow I can’t quite remember we’re all of good use in dealing with the last forces of ruin and some... particularly nasty rituals... The price for borrowing the Great Runed Axe of Deci is not negotiable.
It is a key part of Deci’s defences against the ever growing threat of Ruin. If the city was attacked and the good citizens of Deci were to perish as a result of my generosity in lending out our only defence so trivially, it would weigh too heavily on my conscience. However in the interests of flexibility if a group or individual were to come forward and wish to purchase the Great Runed Axe of Deci permanently, this is something I would consider in order to use the funds to instead build ritual defences. Half a million grulls would be a starting point to get me out of bed. Yours Tangle City Spirit of Deci |

Sirs
I can confirm active, and thwarted, recent Ruin followers to the north of Alguz. The openness of their activity was striking, with a welcoming carpet (of sorts) to any acolytes who wanted it. A common feature of walking this path was to willingly take on a portion of Ruinic madness to afford passage to the next-most trial and in towards the sanctum. This included A) a stabilised rift to Ruin allowing people to be touched by some madness. The rift is now closed. a well of insanity to be drunk from, sadly not fully resolved, but the power should now have faded C) a potent trio of capable cult leaders all now slain. And _copious_ nightmare creations. I should also advise all to beware power-changing lines: having fallen to a spiritual line that, when crossed, triggered an amplification focus empowered mantically. Yours Akki Solstrum |

I’ll start the bidding Half a million grulls Squim Chief of the spider tribe Squim Tangle has said that he wishes the axe to be available for the defence of Primus. I believe he will therefore sell to a worthy buyer, one willing to use the axe for such a purpose, not for the maximum bid. While an element of profiteering may be seen here (and I suspect most of us have undertaken such in our time), to pass the axe on to those unwilling to share, may well harm Deci and other cities as well as permanently eroding Tangle's standing in the mercenary community. Obviously, I may be wrong about Tangle but I don't think he is that naïve Corrie |

Squim I’ll up my bid to 1 million Various offers of uncharacteristically large numbers of Grulls from people who are certainly not expected to have incomes that sustain their bids have come to the Empires attention. I will be doing some work for the Imperial Tax office in the coming month and I am happy to audit all offers to ensure there are no offshore Grull Pools being circulated on this purchase. A most excellent offer, just to check this isn’t like the time the Magpie tribe of the Utter north put me in a sack and forced me to write total heal scrolls for 6 months is it?
My superiors were not amused by my unapproved leave Gideon |

I have had a number of private and public offers ranging between the half a million to the million grull mark for the permanent purchase of the The Runed Great Axe of Deci.
Whilst money almost always talks, the renowned dwarven spiritual behemoth that is Corrie is vaguely right... My first and only concern will always be Deci, but I understand that whilst we are the number one undisputed greatest city in the Empire, we are part of a bigger picture. I have no wish to see the Axe squirrelled away (apologies to the amusing anonymous bidders who have offered above the odds) and unused but still require recompense for giving it up to aid in the building of ritual defences for Deci. So basically, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, we may not sell to the highest bidder. Unless they are really digging deep... Yours Tangle |

Indeed, there us a Mercantile saying that explains Tangle's stance: "Sometimes the cost is more than the price".
Our City Spirit is wise enough to ensure the loot gained is not at a cost to the city or the wider Empire or Primus. It is quite simply not in our interests, isolated as we may be, to see the World about us burn.
