So am booked on the buckmore overland on the 27th July, and know there are a few more OL’s booked there over coming weekends.

After the overland weekend just gone that I organised, one of the few regrets was not doing Dormansland both days. Especially when we got kicked out at about 6.45 from Buckmore, before being actually finished.

Now I am easy, if these go ahead at Buckmore, I’ll be there as I love overlands. But thought worth opening discussion as to whether Dormansland might not be the better default site to be using now? So long as James happy to have us!

It’s a club members site, it’s absolutely huge, James is an amazing host, the site has very few if any muggles and it basically wins out in every way!

So my vote would definitely be to do the 27th there, but if transport issues or any other problem in doing so, nps, just worth an ask. smile.gif

We'd only booked until 7pm.

So come 7pm we were asked to leave.

I know in the past we've gone on until nearly 8 at Buckmore.

So I don't know if this is a new thing or just because we'd only booked until 7.

I'm sure Will can shed some light as he handled the booking.

The time on the booking form is meant to be meaningless as they usually have just let us kick around as we wish, the details bit is usually a formality so they can have the thing recorded somewhere. I suspect it was a newer/different warden who wasn't familiar with us. I've been in touch to discuss.

That said, I'm quite in favour of moving to Dormansland as our default overland site now 🙂

I spoke to him and he said the booking was only till 6.30 and that he had come back to lock the gate. I think during the summer months we need to let them know we want it from let's say 10.30 till 9 pm then there is no conflict.

He mentioned that we do not pay by the hour to use the site. Who ever n normally speaks to him for the booking just needs to let them know.

I like both sites and if it is a double day adventure I would like to use both sites.

I like Buckmore, but Dormansland has so much more to it (and far less chance of bumping into random walkers).
