Something we have noticed over the last 6 months or so is an ever growing occurance of clubmembers having to twist the threshold booking system in order to accomodate the characters/people that want to play a given event. There have been a number of No Max's booked because one player is just over 10k, or on a number of occasions a player has played a character who is over the published threshold (entirely with the referee/organiser/other players consent).

This is not something that I think that the CMT should be jumping on people and rigidly enforcing - rather, I see it as a good indication that the current threshold system is not accomodating enough to clubmembers needs. I do feel that thresholds should be enforced - but only if the system is flexible enough to allow people to play the dungeons they wanrt to.

As such, the following thresholds are now bookable as dungeons:-

Pre 8th
Max 250
Max 500
Max 750
Max 1000
Max 1500
Max 2000
Max 2500
Max 3000
Max 4000
Max 5000
Max 6000
Max 7500
Max 10000
Max 15000
Max 20000
Proper, real mans, No Max.

Additionally, for closed events of Max 1500 or higher the threshold may have 'Unbalanced' added to it - being an indicator to the ref/players/monsters that there will be a wide points range of characters on the event, allowing the referee to tailor the event to the party that he actually has. With unbalanced events, it is important that the referee knows in advance what players he is writing for, and as such, any bookings during the week preceeding the event are only permissable at the ref's discretion (you should contact the ref/booking line to check...).

Given the significantly more flexible thresholds, we will be strictly enforcing the max as stated from here on in.... Do not play a character who is over the stated threshold for the dungeon - should you wish to play a character who is over the limit, it may well be worth asking (organiser/bookings etc) to see if the threshold can be moved up to the next bracket to accomodate your character choice. Please not that the threshold limit obviously includes non-standard threshold mosifiers should you have them. If you are over the threshold, then it is highly likely that the points earnt from that dungeon will be removerd from your card.

As with all things, if you have a problem or any concerns, you should feel free to contact one of the CMT.

Phil.

Phil

I assume you can go over the max by 1 event (eg you are 959 points and do 1 more event to get to 1000 points ready for a max 1k)? Obviously only spending up to 1? Or are you saying this is also not possible?

Cheers

The threshold max is just that - the max becomes a bit meaningless/overly complex if there are allowable exceptions to it. Bottom line is you need to start the dungeon under the threshold limit set.

In the past it has been traditional that a ref can "call the shots" on whether an above threshold character can play. From my experience it is usually due to some last minute issue although ocassionally where a character is 3 points over threshold it seems silly to bar them from a particular game or increase the entire threshold significantly and in these situations it seems to make sense that common sense applies. Do refs still have this discretion?

Can you refuse some of the points you are being awarded in order to keep under the threshold for an up and coming myths for example?
