My Lords
I have heard rumours saying that the council has gone soft following a samurai bringing a peasant to members of the council for judgement. Apparently the peasant punched the samurai on the nose!
I missed the discussion as I was trying to source some herbal curatives of a purity my body would accept. Only the newest members of the council were present at the time.
The peasant after apologising was sentenced to having a finger chopped off and then sent back to work.
My sincerest apologies. If I had been the person to deal with this I would have told the samurai that he should have taken the man's head immediately after being punched and not waste council time. I would also have told him that he had failed in his duties and should commit seppuku.
Would I have been wrong in this judgement?
I thank you my Lords for your time
Noyen Nopac Zu of the Snake Clan
Noyen Nopac Zu-san,
This "accusation" has levels.
Firstly I hope you killed the man who told you the Council had gone soft for insulting not just your Clan and the other Clans that make up the Council, but also your own Lord Naga Yusaki-sama, as well as Lord Sosen Riki-sama and Lady Daigo Dansu-sama.
The Judgement of the Council is fair as well as just and if the situation demanded a soft hand or a firm one, I'm sure the combined presence of both Lord Naga Yusaki-sama and Lady Daigo Dansu-sama was more than enough to mediate a correct outcome for both the offended samurai and the offending peasant, which should be bore in mind that the peasant was influenced by the situation with the black wolf and needed a different approach that simply cutting a head off.
Secondly, you sincerest apologies can be delivered in a manner better than a back hand followed by what is obviously, "what the Lords did was incorrect and I would have done this instead". I would question the sincerity in your apology when not just questioning you Lords judgement but in-fact correcting him on your "better" course of action.
Third, Yes, you are wrong in your judgement. Your Lord and the Lord of the Crane judged this situation and Daimyo's judgement on their lands issues are never incorrect. If you disagree, I'm sure Lord Naga Yusaki-sama would make time for your disagreement and possibly supply you a second.
In the future, perhaps bring dire news such as this with the head of the person defiling the name of the Council and in a more private manner as to not insult your Lord and the other lords in the Council in an open way such s this.
I hope Lord Naga Yusaki-sama is feeling generous on your beahalf with this news.
In honour,
Sosen Oku
Jade Emperors Ambassador
Everyone is allowed to express opinion, though your wording could have been ...'better'.
There were many factors involved recently with the Issues of the Black wolf, so it must have been decided that leniency was the best method to deal with the situation.
If memory serves I was not there directly to deal with this matter, but I respect the decision made with all the 'interesting' occurrences that have been afield lately.
If Lord Naga feels the outcome was satisfactory, and you disagree, you know what to do.
If Lord Naga feels the outcome was dis-satisfactory, and the people involved disagree, they know what to do or id they agree with lord Naga it can be discussed privately.
Lord Ningyou Dansu of The Crane
Every one must learn and know there place within out lands.
The Samurai has the right to judge and his decision is correct and is not to be questioned
The Council has the right to judge and should not be questioned
I have the right to judge and cannot be questioned
Your words while were simple and enquiring have insulted many in the most open of places. You status does not grant you the rank to question those above you.
The Council has not gone soft and by suggestion such you fuel that statement.
You now need to be judged by Ting Bo on the wheel and then take this lession into your new life.
I will give you one finial mercy rather then binding your soul into a dagger so you can never be reborn , you may go to Woodow Sama the Emperors Honour and commit Suppuku at his feet.
Lord Naga Yusaki
Daiymo of the Snake clan
Body of the Council
The Voice of the council has been mute for too long.
I have finally finished with my Clans lands and the arrangements needed in service of our emperor and I return to help my fellow council elders
with what hardships we face.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunsday, I am sure we can put any and all "rumors" to rest swiftly.
Lord Sosen Riki,
Guardian of the Ancestors,
Voice of the Council,
Daimyo of the Jade dragon clan.
(OOC - I stupidly forgot to put in description line that this was in Council chambers, not public)
My Lords I have obviously mixed my words and dishonoured you all in doing so.
What I was trying to say was that none of the lords of the council were present and three of us, your lowly servants were there when the samurai came in. I would never question the judgement of any of the council.
I was trying to make you aware that rumours had popped up in a few villages. These have been quashed but I wanted you to know.
My comments about what I thought any of you my Lords would have done if you were there were just that. I was asking in an obviously stupidly unclear way whether I was right in how I would have judged if I had done so on your behalf.
My previous unclear thinking was the reason Lord Naga sent me to the West for several years.
I can only apologise again and wait for judgement for my obvious stupidity.
Noyen
(OOC - I wrote the original post to lead to an IC reason for Noyen not being present this Sunday as I am meant to be monstering instead. I would have relied earlier after reading Jules' post this morning but real life issues prevented that.
If it is decided that Noyen is to pay the ultimate price, Duncan still has my character card from the last CoJ dungeon. Please let me know before Sunday though)
*Noyen returns his borrowed weapons back to the smiths of his clan. With the limited training of the power of his mind and a few long breaks he transports himself to the Panama Clan. In silence he approaches Woodrow Panama, kneels and lays his Snake Clan mon at Woodrow's feet*

My honourable Lords, if I may:
It was I, Haiyū Yang-to, Family Daimyo of the Haiyū, of the Jade Dragon Clan, who passed judgement on that day.
The details with which I made my decision I divulged, with the honourable Lady Dansu and Lord Naga. I shall also be willing to share said details with you, Lord Riki, when we next meet, although I am sure there will be more pressing matters to attend to first...
If it is their will for me to explain publically, I shall do so.
In the meantime, if any others wish to publicly question the will of the Daimyos, or my judgement, they should submit themselves to stand trial this coming Sunsday, where I shall be more than willing to educate those on the matter of etiquette when addressing a Daimyo.
Lord Haiyū Yang-to
Daimyo of the Haiyū family
of the Jade Dragon Clan
(OOC - Any idea what is going on? I can't kneel forever, I've got a knackered knee!)
You should come ready to play, how much of the day you play remains to be seen

Last known image of Noyen Nopac Zu
Or is the fact he isn't pacted a good enough reason to bear his shame.....
D
Or really playing "dragons advocate" was anything he said wrong or out of place ............
I want cake!
Bring monster costume, if it's going that way........
OOC - I am very sure there is a way to let Andy play (if thats is what he wants to do) and not commit seppuku and also not have to cost Dansu 10% (which is a completely stupid idea in the first place, wrong clan, not anything to really do with her, etc). I'm sure between Oku and Woodrow, we could sort out an Imperial pardon for "stupidity", while putting some constraints on him from the Emperor.
But if he doesn't mind paying the rp costs, he could still play (serve) the day and commit seppuku at the end of the day. Or if he wants/needs to crew, get it over with and write it off with "ah well, I've learnt my lesson not to speak so casually to my superiors again"
wow.... you guys have really been missing Riki... lol
I really cant wait to get into this IC on sunday...
I agree with Jules. Stupid idea!
As it was Yang-To's judgement he questioned, it is feasible that he could recommend sentence for him questioning it, with the Daimyo's permission. Without spoiling it, if that were the case Andy's character would not be perming for at least a year, and depending on the situation then maybe not at all. An alternative price would be paid in the interim...
That would depend on the IC decisions of the Council Daimyos in order to happen, and I won't influence that. However I do offer it as an OC solution.
*Spoiler Alert!*
You are all going to be so surprised when Noyen turns out to be the 20k Ninja of the Black Wolf Clan!! Who knew Duncan would play such a long game with one of his NPCs?
