The murdering continues. No one seems to care, or take any action. There's been some chatter in the upper echelons, but nothing beyond that. The population becomes more... distressed.

Where are their protectors? Why do they not defend the people of the land?

Amongst this backdrop though, a range of kind acts seemingly with no reason or purpose behind them other than pure altruism. More than that, no "perpetrator" could be found.

A grieving family found a wedge of 50G notes presented on their dining table. A couple of orphaned siblings stumbled across food and blankets unclaimed on a cold near winter night.

At least someone had remembered the little people.

The Knights of the Watch were seen to take some action in the past weeks, their Lord Tristan marshalling an element of organisation to looking out for the populace. Solid armour and well trodden heels pounded the streets in significant numbers lending, not only reassurance to the people of Mordred's Rest, but seemingly bringing about an end to the murders that had plagued the city for so many months.

Some patrols reported having seen something... in the shadows.... watching, as though considering whether to attack. But when approached it melted away like it had never really been there.

Either way, the increased patrols seemed to have done the job, and as further days passed things slowly drifted back to some sense of normality.
