Labyrinthe Forum _ General Discussion - OOC _ Sellaville Day and Druids Themeday

Posted by: RichFromant Aug 17 2017, 07:43 AM

So coming up next weekend we have 2 themedays, Sellaville day on Saturday 26th at the caves and Rite of Life Druids Themeday on Monday 28th at Buckmore Park. Both are currently looking good on the player front but somewhat desperate on the ref and monsters side of things.

Themedays are always something a bit special and a chance for characters of different points to mix together and for big things to be achieved. However, without crew they wont be able to run and it is hoped we can encourage people to play one and monster one to ensure everyone has a fun day. We have come up with the following rewards for those who are able to play one and monster one plus those that monster both.

If you play Sellaville Day and monster the Druids Themeday you gain the following one shot item for the character you play:
Druidic Talisman – Grants Utalise EP item for this item, and 15 EP worth of standard EP innates, chosen at start of day.

If you play Druids Themeday and monster Sellaville Day you gain the following one shot item for the character you play:
Sellaville Thanks: Gains the first 2 tiers of Sellaville Beggar Benefits

If you monster both events then you gain both items and they can be used by any of your characters.

The rewards also apply to those who ref or a-ref them.

These are in addition to the usual rewards for monstering a triple length of 18 credits, 60 monster points (80 for overland) plus the chance to buy items of the themeday monster point table. The ISP book is in the downloads section of the forums and has all the details.

If you are keen please do book on to crew!

I wouldn't mind monstering the Druid's theme day, but being from near J10 and being unable to drive, I basically can't get there. Anyone local going up that I can nab a lift with? Pretty please? sad.gif

Have switched to a ref the Monday

Posted by: fatteacher Aug 17 2017, 11:49 AM

I am monstering Sellaville but not playing the Druids. I assume I get one of the items for a character of choice

It seems pretty clear to me you have to do both for the reward.

Thanks Will, ill send you some stuff.

So monster and play - you get rewarded; Monster for the good of the players - no reward
That makes perfect sense - not!

If you monster one,you get one.
If you monster both you get both.

I think the idea is to motivate players on one to book to crew - if you are only crewing one you get the reward of crewing...

I'm hoping to crew Monday so happy to be corrected but I'd also say it seems clear why it's like this

I think it's a pretty cool deal and good incentive, maybe now days to run a good themeday with full crew more ideas like this should be standard. The monster item table for themedays are pretty tasty too, but only if you have enough points to buy stuff from it .

Someone remind me which other systems offer crew rewards, apart from beer, food and gratitude?

Support one event: No bonus
Support both events: Bonus

Makes sense to me.

Please note. Only 2 people including myself have signed up to monster at all on either of these days

Please see my previous comment which apparently may be too subtle.

I have no knowledge of other systems as only want to play Labyrinthe.
We have incentives and I don't see them going anywhere.
I was wondering if this new 'bonus' would be open for the members of the club who might be convinced to crew one of the events even if they are not playing the other.

Andy,

I'm really sorry that you don't think out incentives are good enough how about you contact Duncan or myself privately and we can see if we can brain storm something better together maybe for another event.

I would just like to say that it's a bonus and if you have ever had a job where you earn a bonus it's not a guaranteed income so for example when you are applying for a mortgage most places only take into account your fixed salary. I would try to keep bonuses as that a bonus and if you get it great. If not then hey ho maybe next time.

I'm a public sector worker so never a sniff of a bonus.
I haven't said the incentives are bad

If thats not what you meant then great but it basically came across as wah its not fair. Just sayin!

I'm pretty sure that Andy's not criticising the bonus just asking about why its that way.

What is this "Bonus" you speak of?

I have to say I'll be disappointed if either of these themedays fell through.

I'd would quite happily monster the Sellaville but prior engagement that day.

We are still working on making these events run, and thanks to all those that have booked to monster both of them. Will be an announcement tomorrow of where we are at with them but currently looking like 2 parties Saturday and a 1 party dungeon Monday. More monsters will be good though as both looking full on players if we do that.

With regards to rewards, they are only for if you are involved in both events, this is for a few reasons but the it was designed to encourage those people who play one event and have a good day thanks to the efforts of the monsters to return the favour.
Also, there is a general rule of not offering extra rewards for one off events that are short of monsters. This is mainly because it could lead to people deliberately not booking on to monster events in the hope that a bonus would be offered for crew, after which they would book to monster as they always intended. The most we ever do is rewards for play one/monster one events such as these or rewards for linked events like campaigns.

Hope that explains our thinking, and booking to monster Saturday is appreciated!

Really enjoyed yesterday. Thank you all. James, Flo and Will especially. Rich for writing it, Dave, Andy, Tim for drive bys. And everyone involved in the carnage of the final fight.
