The Merloc

The Merloc are a sea born race only living on land when not out hunting for ships to plunder in their giant cityships. The Merloc spend most of their time living on huge ritually built ships that are pulled by giant sea serpents that have been reared and trained since hatched from eggs found in the coastal caverns of Serpent Isles.

The Merloc trade with both the Cairns and the Netherkin as they come across all manner of trading ships at sea and have also been known to raid in shore when the booty was plentiful.

The Merloc worship a serpent god called Keeresh, and any serpent creature is treated with respect by them, especially the sea serpents which they have a great affinity with. Keeresh is pictured as a humanoid serpent.

The Merloc were led by a King, Omac Greenscale, who gathered together a great armada of ships together when the threat of the Brocaman first arose. There was a massive sea battle which saw King Omac killed and his cityship ‘The Pride of Merloc’ sunk and its giant sea serpent ‘The Leviathan’ slain. It was said the seas were red with blood and the dead & shattered ships outnumbered the waves themselves.

The Merloc are yet to recover from that battle and now only make small forays in Brocaman waters. They do however try and provide the Netherkin and Cairns with means to battle the Brocaman as and when they can.

In appearance, the Merloc have pointed ears like elves and slightly scaled skin on the sides of their faces and necks. The more ‘blessed’ by Keeresh, often have reptilian eyes as well.
