So, now we have the generic scout guild started I thought I should organise another guild special for another tier, or an extension of the blow up date.

Happy to make this a joint guild adventure with an appropriate guild

Dave, you up for reffing another?

I was thinking max 3k

Dates wise I was thinking 27th may or 24th June

Who is in?

Chris

Posted by: Abel Apr 24 2017, 07:35 PM

I could be convinced as Dipp smile.gif

Posted by: elisabeth Apr 24 2017, 09:48 PM

I'd be interested to play Darcy again.

I have loads of scouts - June date is better

I've got a goblin assassin I've been neglecting I'd be happy to play.

What's the guild ethos/restrictions?

BBB

Posted by: Gordon Apr 25 2017, 07:19 AM

Sadly I'm out both dates clash, 1st one with the final liberation lead Up and the second with the event itself sad.gif

Posted by: elisabeth Apr 25 2017, 10:03 AM

The 24th of June would be preferred as all my exams will be finished by then.

Lizzie

Posted by: Ferro Apr 25 2017, 11:38 AM

I don't think I'll be able to make those dates. Any after the July 4 day I'd be interested in playing as Nala, although it'd have to be a 4k or 5250.

Posted by: isbiraven Apr 25 2017, 01:20 PM

i have a few options who might wanna come and help out smile.gif

Posted by: JackFlashblade Apr 25 2017, 03:27 PM

Ok I will book a max 3k Top Secret guild special for 24th June, and will book another after the July 4 day that is high enough for Stacey

BBB guild ethos / restrictions are in the Almanac, but very relaxed, basically we let almost anyone in to get the numbers

Anyone appropriate interested in doing a joint guild special?

Yep, I'd be up for reffing for you guys again.

Joint seemed to work well last time. Have a few ideas that will work well with other guilds - just need to know with whom you'll be teaming up with as to which one to go with....

Anyone have any ideas who else needs a special ?

also anyone have any contracts or things they'd want to achieve or setup on the dungeon ?

I've booked on, although most of my scouts in that bracket are guild-challenged in one way or another. I'll work something out.

Mark

And booked off ☹ working that saturday...

Posted by: DaveR May 7 2017, 08:02 PM

So given how we have 9 booked at the moment - am going to start writing under the assumption that this isn't joint and everyone booked on is a scout of some description...

Whilst not essential at this stage - a rough guide to points, class and play style from those booked on would be useful when it comes to fleshing out things ... either here or PM is fine by me.

Also if anyone has any cc contracts or things they want to achieve on dungeon (other than murder greenway tongue.gif ) please feel free to PM me any info.

Dave
PS Monsters are always good too !

Any chance I could nab a guest slot as Kallah can't usually join guilds? Did the last joint one with Mortai and had some cool roleplay with the brief so would be nice.

Cheers,

Anyone interested should please book on ! If I don't have 6 players and at least one monster/a-ref booked by end of Wednesday, we will have to rearrange for another (non 3-day !) date ...

I see there are 10 players booked on the 3 adventures that day - maybe they could be combined in some way?

I was thinking this, I have a number of characters in the sub 3k mark, so if we join forces let us know and I'll choose a character

Posted by: MarkD Jun 19 2017, 01:29 PM

Sadly just realised I'm double booked for this and crewing the 3-day, and I really need the credits to pay for the July 4-day. Booked off, but would definitely be interested in playing the one after the 4-day.

Posted by: Rennos Jun 20 2017, 12:14 PM

If the pre 8th on Saturday is cancelled Im thinking of playing on this one as my scout, however he is in the under 250 pt bracket. Would this be suicide?

Posted by: atem55 Jun 20 2017, 01:12 PM

I'm also on the pre8th with Rennos, but have a 250pt druid I could play...same question, is this viable? smile.gif

Posted by: DaveR Jun 20 2017, 02:36 PM

As long as I know what people are playing by thursday I can stat lower to accomodate a little bit more...

That said as long as you pick and choose your moments you should both be fine. By this I mean dont stand toe to toe with the 2.9k warrior while hes fighting the giant demon of war but the druid could always crowd control with a wall to help... the scout could sneak off to find a phylactery or the demons bane weapon...

I try not to write adventures that low levels cant get involved in
BUT adventures dont always run according to my plan. Party do things their own way... takinh the example above if noone talked to the random npc or found and read the note letting you all know that the demon has a bane weapon/phylactery then theres not much I can do about it...

Basically IMHO if you stay 'combat aware' and pick amd choose moments to step up ( and get the right ones;) ) you both should be fine. Also the higher pointed people will try to help fellow members out -moreso if youre in the same guild/ have a similar outlook as them.

Steve

Posted by: atem55 Jun 20 2017, 06:03 PM

Assuming the pre 8th is cancelled, and add orlock says, very likely, I'll play my druid to keep the potions flowing (and the odd bV!).

Dave, do you want us to book off the pre 8th and onto one of the others?

Carl

Posted by: Abel Jun 20 2017, 08:34 PM

Please be aware, that merging all three dungeons will make player spaces viable, but apart from Dave, there is absolutely no crew. There will the be the very likely chance that someone or perhaps at least two someones will have to book off to crew and I know at least two (perhaps three) people across all three dungeons are almost always the people who do this for other dungeons and should be allowed to play. So if you feel that you would be under prepared for a 3k (of which two of the three dungeons are at the threshold) I would suggest offering to crew would be both good for the whole and for general experience of the system. That and if you offer up there is the fairly high likely hood that you will get to sign monster points onto your character, thus advancing your character at the same time.

Posted by: atem55 Jun 20 2017, 09:33 PM

Hi,

I appreciate we are under level, Dave seemed accepting and happy about this, This is only my 2nd time at the caves (after a 25 year break!) so I really wanted another go at playing. Obviously it's disappointing for me that the pre 8th is likely to be cancelled, although there are more players booked on that then either of the other dungeons.

I also travel up from Southampton, so, when I'm still very new and keen on playing my characters, it is a long way to come to monster at this early stage. And i don't think i would do it justice.

Thanks

Posted by: Rennos Jun 21 2017, 06:50 AM

Good Morning

After reading the previous comments about the 3k and low point players I want to let you guys know that if the pre-8th doesnt run then I wont be booking onto the guild special / 3k dungeons.

I dont want to force out higher level players and dont feel, being a returning player, that I will do justice to the 3k's by monstering.

Just wanted to let you know so you dont expect me down to play/monster on the 3k's.

Cheers

Steve

I think you have got the wrong end of the stick. I wasn't say that either of you should, everyone has the right to play, but there is s likely hood that should the worst happen, there will likely be a request for people to book off and crew, or no one gets to play at all.

Many of us have often found ourselves in this situation and honestly crewing is often a fun experience in itself, you get to mess around with other aspects of the system that you wouldn't normally try and may in fact enjoy enough to want to make a character from.

Dave is a good multi tier ref having often run excellent events to cater to all levels of play. This extends to the crew side, you wouldn't have much better a start to crew such an event. and truly I wasn't saying, if your low level you should crew, I was just suggesting that if you feel you would be out of your depth playing that monstering was an option.
Steve I hope I read your post wrong but stamping your feet and saying "if I can't play I won't come" isn't conductive to the club as a community. But the very real fact is that if no one offers up then straws would be drawn to see who crews, but it very rarely comes to that as people such as Ed, Stacy and myself often step up. But in this case Ed has done this a couple of weeks in a row, so I was asking if anyone who offer pre hand so that he doesn't get the chance to sacrifice himself again.

But who knows, we may get down the caves and some people may surprise us, it happened the other week to me when I was reffing with no crew, but if you choose to not come then you'll never know either way.

The point i was trying to make is that I havent played for 20+ years, and i want to play, at this very early stage of returning (my 2nd event) RATHER than monster. Your post read, to me, that the higher point dungeons are more important than the pre 8th. Dave seemed happy, so your post surprised me to be honest. As i mentioned, the pre 8th had the most players anyway, but that is the one that has to book off?

If pre 8ths dont run we NEVER get to play on the higher points. Sure, i can drive 300+ miles on my 2nd visit and monster and get some points, but have to be 8th to apply them? I only had the opportunity to play a 8th with some points as i made a gold cave fund donation, because i enjoyed my 1st returning session so much, although i think this may have been premature.

It isn't like i would never have the intention to monster, far from it, but it's my 2nd visit down, there is very few pre 8ths on the diary, and it seems very few sign ups for those that are there, so any opportunity to play is welcomed. That is also why I would like to play rather than monster.

As one of the low end of the system referees, I agree with you 100% and it's great that you are returning after so long. My post, as I said, wasn't to make you monster, it was to offer those who were concerned that it was "suicide" or "viable" to play on an unbalanced dungeon, an alternative to playing if the concern was that you would just die all the time. Dave of course was happy to run what was needed, it's what we ref's do, we are here to make the players happy. However I'd hate to have what happened to me a few weeks back, to happen to Dave when it can be prevented, I solo crewed a dungeon (Ref/Aref/Monstered) and while the players were great about it, it was exhausting, but I did it because the players on the dungeon were people who crew ALL the time and deserved to get to play.

Pre 8ths are booked often, and fill up often, but this is a bad time of year, with summer fests and Exams going on, people aren't at the caves and we have to work together to get dungeons working. And yes that may mean someone who makes a 104 mile journey to the caves and the same amount back may sometimes be requested to crew, but that is all, a request. Never will anyone make you do something, but we may ask. But if you look at the benefits rather than the negatives, you may see that it might be worth doing:
Monster points on your character (character advancement without the threat of loss of vitea smile.gif )
Credits to pay with next time
Getting to experience a side of the game you might not try because you don't want to waste your money on a character that you're not sure about
Helping the club community
And more

many other systems will make you crew regardless of where you come from and you don't even get half of that list.

And this is where we all stand, we all would love to play everytime, some of us also come from far away. But someone has to crew or noone plays. But don't think I'm saying YOU HAVE TOO!!!!! I was simply suggesting that if you are concerned about the dungeon you would be playing, that crewing was an alternative option that people would love you for. Sorry that you read the wrong tone into my post, I just want the best for everyone involved and there are a couple of people in this group of people on saturday, who have given more than their share.

Okay.

In order to clarify things.

I will be reffing a max 3k on sat.

There will be a seperate brief for Top Secret.

Monsters will be volunteers only.

I am happy to run solo if I have to.

Due to the nature of solo run events being prop/setting heavy I will probably be timing in a little late

Noone should feel out of their depth either monsters or players. (But regard my post re. Choosing the right moments)

If people who decide they would like to play please post class/points and if Top Secret or not. (If your not getting their brief might ruin the fun...)

Dave

I would be playing Dipp, that is unless there are no monsters, in which case I will likely swap over.

Hi Dave.

I was due to play the pre 8th but will monster for you instead if thats okay ?

I've booked off the pre 8th and will book onto this instead.

I am relatively new (returned about six months ago) and I still do not know all the classes yet but happy to step up and play the trash ;-)

Otherwise, wack me a PM on whats playing monster wise and I will read up on the spells and abilities etc

Edd and Stacey frequently monster and its the least I can do (I know others do, but I dont know you all yet) - I look forward to watching Edd in his armour on those hills in Perth-y-Pia even though he is a machine with weird ant like superhuman strength and stamina and I am guessing he would like the points wink.gif

Posted by: elisabeth Jun 21 2017, 03:06 PM

I'll be playing Æther, 2.7k Blauz warrior.

Lizzie

Posted by: DaveR Jun 21 2017, 03:45 PM

No problem James.

TBH most of the stats are neither here nor there .. the key thing for my dungeons is roleplay... I can give you a rough breakdown of abilities, and write verbal sheets next to parts if you'd like.

But it's more about the talking to and making the players care about the npc they are butchering .... either not wanting to kill them or just really wanting to be rid of them!!! Both work !!

I'm a bit bogged down at work but if you PM me an email address I can send over a copy of the dungeon in advance for you to read - probably tomorrow night/Friday - that way you have an idea of the plot and can ask any questions in the morning.

Speaking of which - I aim to be there for 9 and will likely do a bit of setting and then a walk around - (basically walking the route through the caves that I 'think' the party will take explaining what is going to be where) - I would recommend coming down in time for that if you can as it does make the day easier knowing what you are going to do and where in advance...

Dave

PS Jules - you're call but if you are going for Dipp can you confirm by Friday as don't want to give you the wrong brief wink.gif

Hi Dave

Thanks for the clarification.

I would like to play my Scout, Drixla, 95pts (Im good at hiding in the shadows), member of Top Secret, however I am happy to monster with James if required.

I have booked on the booking system for the guild special.

Can you put me down for this as well please, Cathbad, 250pt Druid. Also booked on the system under the Guild Special.
