As dawn broke in the aftermath of the battle for Halgar, the true toll was clear for all. Dozens, if not hundreds of bodies lay scattered and broken amongst the ruined buildings. Field and road caked in blood and organ. Weeping families who had spent the night watching over their fallen. Though the city had been saved, there were many who felt as though their world had ended.

Atop the walls still standing to the north of the city, a single figure looked out upon the rising sun. Taking in the destruction a look of pain flickered across his face, followed by the weary sigh of one too used to terrible sights.

Resting upon his staff, the twisted white wood glistening in the morning light, Tirama began his chant. Power flowed outwards, a tangible sheen in the air until, with a final flourish he threw his hands to the sky.

As his life left his body, which crumpled to the floor, gold and white lightning crackled through the suddenly gathered clouds above. Glowing droplets of rain fell through the air like tears from heaven, bathing the ground and corpses, living and dead alike. Blood washed away, wounds healed. Injured soldiers recovering in their barracks found bone mended and flesh renewed.

Atop the northern wall, Tirama's eyes flickered open. Pulling himself unsteadily to his feet he offered up a short prayer and smiled at the heavens. Drained, but happy.

Over the next month the rain continued, a refreshing drizzle amongst the natural weather patterns, always present. A feeling of hope, unbidden, unexplained seemed to fill the hearts of the residents of the city. The grieving felt comforted, the lost found purpose.

And, as the 7th week drew to a close, and the first holy day of Shaehan in 1018 drew near, the fallen returned. In the lead up to the 20th of Februar, the High Holy Day of Reformation, 28 years to the day when the church of Shallya was reformed, her love and light shone brightest across the lands, and showed true joy at the sacrifice of her chosen.

For those of the city, the innocents who had lost their lives in the vicious assault at the dawn, returned to their loved ones. Taken by powers beyond their understanding, returned in mercy they could begin to comprehend, that filled their hearts. Full of hope and filled with purpose, the city rejoiced. The initial shock subsided quickly, graves thrown open and bodies returned whole.

A single dove flew over the city as the rain subsided, and the sunlight burst through the clouds.
