I hope we remembered to take him back out of his cell, so that he could be treated appropriately. Also where would you like me to take the busy alchemist we met where he would be safe.

Also what he was making may also need to be investigated.

Mason

'Mason,

Worry not friend, I would have not have let him or the others rot in their cells, rest assured. It is my duty to make sure of such things. With regards to our friend, are we sure that we cannot somehow remove that madness that seems to have striken him, or is it just the fact that he has been driven mad by his work?

Indeed, I agree, those things and the other workings in that place, need to be investigated fully. This conspiracy, could lead to disastrous results for all the people's of Primus. Imagine a land where such potions do not exist, instead driving those to kill. I have spoken to my superiors and am able to offer any assistance I can with this task.

In honour,

Loric.'

OOC : Nice one mate! I'm under the assumption I would have taken the Lord and the slaves out of the cells myself and herded them out of the caverns. My character wouldn't have left them there.

As I said when you returned, I am happy to care for the young Alchemist you returned with, he seem quite adept at the art. Lord Winterhaven I will check over and ensure he is safe and then have him returned to his family.

Thank you once again for the artifacts you retturned to me, it will help no end in developing some form of medication to battle this infection.

*An ashen-faced Molly stumbles into the conversation.*

You let all of them out? You'd better be sure they can be trusted. You'll be kicking yourselves if they turn into raging
lunatics, even if they don't that Winterhaven guy was plain rude. Honestly Loric, I'm not sure why you even bothered with
the trip down into those nasty little caves.

Seriously though, the man is clearly insane. Talk about a wasted effort.

At least tell me you set the place alight before you left? You know, for safety.

*Loric, with one hand holding his head, puts quill to parchment.*

'My dear friends and companions,

Let's not be too hasty now and start burning down warehouses and such. The Lord has his place due to Imperial decree and it shall stay so, it is not our duty to decide otherwise. We could not simply let him die down there, I could not do that on a moral ground, let alone an Imperial one. Remember, it is our duty as mercenaries to defend these people and ensure their safety, unless of course, I missed a few loopholes here and there!

I ask you please, do not raze the entire city to the ground. Instead wait for Imperial message, as is the right thing to do. I am sure our friend Gorim, will have more to say shortly.

In honour,

Loric.'

*Sealing the letter, Loric chuckled to himself and sat back in his chair. An interesting group of companions indeed.*

Well, I don't care enough either way to go back. You should have burnt it down, but if you didn't there's not much
I can or am willing to do now.

Should a great and terrible legion of spiders suddenly burst out, spewing from the cave's entrance like a heaving mass
of hairy, hissing, clicking death I'll know who to blame.

*After spotting Loric's letter, a scowl crosses her face*

Duty? Are you kidding me? I have no duty to anyone, save myself. I was paid to complete a task, nothing more, nothing less.
I completed that task, I did what was asked of me. Nothing was said about ensuring safety or defending civilians, so ergo, not
my problem.

I wasn't talking about razing a city, that would be stupid and pointless. I simply meant they should have set the cave on fire
to protect against spiders, remaining drow or any left over alchemical things that random wanderers could probably get their
hands on. See? Doing the right thing. Yeesh.

'Molly,

I do agree, that the entrance to the Underdark be guarded, if not sealed. I shall leave that in the hands of the relevant authorities, perhaps they will ask us to perform that task. I simply cannot make that decision, and perhaps it has ramifications beyond what we see.

In honour,

Loric.'

I am rapidly losing patience. I might just have to go there and burn it myself at this rate. I don't need permission
to burn down an old and crumbling, dangerous basically disused cave.

Stupid cave.

Stupid spiders.

Grr.

Sorry to intrude upon your discussion but the cave you speak of is our tribal home, I remember your group said they would remove the majority of the drowe from it and now that you have, my warriors have the situation under control. The Drowe have retreated and we are putting thing back to normal.
Please don't set our home ablaze.

*Sighs deeply.*

Fine.

I suppose as long as your men have it under control I'll stay my hand.

I'll have to find somewhere else to practise though.

*With a resounding DOH!, Loric once again puts quill to parchment.*

'My friends,

Could we be a little more cautious and caring with regards to how we treat prisoners that we rescue, be them noble or peon. This course of action, was not right in hindsight and we could have easily escorted the Baron to safety. Please remember, I am bound by my oath and am in service to the Empire. The amount of legality and paperwork that has to be written to explain such matters, slows down our investigation and spreads mistrust through those who deem to worthy for us to perform these tasks.

I trust that Gorim will handle the situation, but I have extended a letter of apology to the Winterhaven family.

Officially,
With honour,

Loric.'

I have also given my personal apologies to Baroness Winterhaven, and also discussed what happened, but please be discreet into what you say, since we are dealing with a delicate matter.

'Mason,

Understood my friend, understood.

Please understand I have a role to play with regards to nobility and the Empire through my duty as a knight in service to the Stars. Unfortunately, I have to play the politic game from time to time, which is regrettable. Understand this, as I have made clear to Gorim already, you can trust in myself as a stalwart companion throughout this campaign.

I just ask that we proceed with due caution and care, with regards to the public and members of the Empire.

My thanks and with honour,

Loric.'

(THIS TAKES PLACE IN A TAVERN LATE INTO THE NIGHT ..... MY TREAT)

Gorim looks like he's had more than enough, eyes red with lack of sleep - Alessa slumped dunk in her soup, Molly grumbling to herself over her book and wine. Our thug never arrived think he's working

"Friends Loric and mason

stay thy tongues, at the time when we located said noble it would have been impossible to return him safely considering the two abominations in the lab. I stand by my decision that the locked open door we kept him behind was added protection. had I had the power I would have done as Mason to keep him safer until the Area was cleared, or we were in a position to work as a team and return to the surface...

Loric! I like you, I do! But if you ever endanger the party to return only a noble to the surface when there is still work to do, you and I will be having words.......

Mason! Keep your sh*t wired tight! I don't need some noble causing trouble for us, when we saved him. Its bloody ungrateful is wot it is now.

Right!! That said, job well done.

We lived! ..... well most of us did, but numbers were stacked against us. Lets hope that the council of mixers can come up with some ways to even the odds.

NOW drink up ...... I'm buying!!!!!"

The fire of the tavern warmed Loric as he sat back in his chair, picking through an array of meat on a platter.

'Gorim...'

The dwarf reminded him of his old quartermaster, the man at arms, Gurney. The words spoken, resonated within him and reminded him of his work within the militia. He had been hasty and judgemental. The two huge, deformed creatures, were powerful, and almost unstoppable. He had wanted to get the Baron and peons to the surface as soon as possible and to safety. Their lives were more important to him than finishing the assignment. Gorim had held the party together with leadership and ultimately, everyone had got out alive and the task was complete.

'My apologies my friend. I respect your decision. I have had to work with nefarious types before and dealt with things that have perhaps, made me too suspicious of mercenaries and ultimately, made me rely on myself in matters of duty.

His thoughts ran to the brothers. He would keep nine thousand grulls for them. A silent prayer spoken for them. The memory of the ominous voice within the graveyard, the voice of betrayal, the demon deep within it. His superiors had sworn that the evil that had attacked him would not permanently affect him. He did wonder, if these thoughts were from his experience, or something else.

'You have nothing but my respect as the leader of our group and you have my trust as a brother in arms. I constantly worry about my actions reflecting on my faith and you are correct, completing our task was paramount. I wanted to take the others to safety immediately, the lives of others is one I have sworn to protect with my own. Your tactics were sound, and we won the day. I simply cannot bare to see the imprisonment of others.'

Raising a glass to the dwarf, Loric offered a bow, with fist against chest. The dwarf had earned his respect.

'To your health Gorim. My trust lies with you.'

Loric sat back within his chair. He must learn to trust those outside the faith better. Perhaps this was a test from the Lady.

OOC : Sorry, had to edit it a bit, was on my phone before!

With a long yawn, the Wizard Molly allowed herself the liberty of a grin before slamming her book shut and joining the ongoing conversation.

"Yes, to Gorim and all of our good health. Right. Now that's out of the way, can someone please fill me in on what exactly happened? I'm drawing a
blank and it's hugely disconcerting. I remember something about this hulking great thing, then there was a wall and lots of blood... That's all I've got."

She pauses for a minute, taking a rather large swig of wine.

"Oh and I woke up surrounded by priests. That's never fun. Talk about awkward. Ugh." She groans, putting her head down on the table.
