Labyrinthe Forum _ Church of Shaehan _ Thoughts on Dying Effects?

Posted by: Will Nov 3 2015, 03:50 PM

Sooo, has anyone got any cool ideas for non standard dying effects for Shaehan?

Posted by: Stuart Nov 3 2015, 04:01 PM

Yes, don't have one. If you coerce someone who takes your life, you might as well VoP them to never do harm while you're alive and next thing you know you're ok with putting evil people in boxes because they'd probably do something bad at some stage.

That sort of depends on your take on playing a Shaehan priest, free will, whether harming other's harms one's own soul, and a whole host of other waffle. I don't have any problem with the roleplay justification of mine as Cloud, although it mostly gets used on monsters because I haven't yet annoyed a party member enough through enthusiastic mime.

As a church benefit, no.

I have passed the old do no harm thing - never bought it as I didn't like it...

I can VOP "inflict no harm" but I don't feel like this is a Church angle that should be encouraged, mine is a 3 day item where we redeemed a group who enforced pacifism on people with Dominion Spirits and Bronze mana and used healing spirits to make sure they could never die no matter how infirmed people had become (It was a bit dark in retrospect)...

Probably can't go wrong with a cheaky returner of Cure Serious or something?

Returner of continuous hugs? That will make the slayer regret it.

That's a good idea for a Dunatis priest?

Dying FX that punish your killer really doesn't fit with the "mercy" thing to me. You get a 5% auto res and then prepped total your killer to show that you have forgiven them?

One day I will play my dominion hospi. . ..

A few ideas off the top of my head:

All peons within 1 mile who died in the last 2 weeks may choose to be restored to life if they wish - despite having no Vitae.

Everyone within 60 feet gets a total heal every 10secs for the next 15mins.

Shaehan is so sad at her High Priest's death, she will restore a mercenary of your choice to life. She is powerful enough to restore people who have been dead for more than 2 weeks or had no Vitae remaining.

The next person you restore to life doesn't lose res chance.

The person who restores you to life gains 10%

You get a 5% auto res. When your killer is next slain, they gain a 10% auto res.

Your slayer gets a total heal. They are so shamed by you healing them after they killed you - you effectively gain the benefits of them 'walking away' from a final stand.

3 Angels turn up - 1 of Shaehan who resses you and 2 of Mortai who act as bodyguards until your post res total kicks in. They won't interfere and can't assist the party - but if monsters etc kick off, then they fully manifest and get really tough stats.

A really tough lawful evil anti-paladin teleports in. You get to play it while your body is prone. You ressed him once back in the day, and he feels he owes you a debt for that. He's an old-Skool AP, so he knows who killed you and loads of other stuff (cos he uses OOC knowledge and just plain cheats).

How about...

Because you are the high priest of mercy any party member who kills you is automatically forgiven? smile.gif

An angel of mortai turns up to protect your body. You play a returner with some combat stats who will fight undead.

Stronghold of goodness appears around your body with 4 candles.

Mass shield against the dark goes off.

Auto res... You get summoned to haven straight away and return 15 minutes later.

I love a good returner or dying effect and have several smile.gif

I might just put in for all of these and see what comes back. I think my fav so far has to be the cheating AP 😊

Posted by: dhurrell Nov 4 2015, 12:11 PM

I had returner of Spirit of Total Heal as the Halvor v.1, lasting until the end of the next combat (which was nice and ambiguous)

I do like that AP idea though!

Maybe you should put in for your killer is immediately effected by a 'mantic haven and pacification as he sits and contemplates his unlawful actions.

Don't tell anyone what it is - much more fun that way.

Also - have it listed as "A effect caused by the character's death" not a "Dying effect".

Innocent whistle.... smile.gif

Which is a Dying effect, surely?!

Posted by: TimTreadwell Nov 6 2015, 01:49 AM

So..... if a hundred angels turn up on your death..... is that a dying effect?

Or.... and effect caused by your death?

Tim.
