Whilst some of them look interesting on the way down - I have never seen anyone stop to read them, ever. All the paper on them goes manky in seconds due to the cave environment and they serve no real useful purpose. It's a long corridor and mostly we just hurry down it, trying to avoid slipping over if it's been raining. I agree some mood building decoration in that corridor would be cool - but I think that's a separate issue to the point of guild boards.
I think a Guild Board in an IC area (not necessarily the Tavern - maybe the Hiring Hall or outside it - would be cool and is more likely to be read. I would certainly use it as a ref and player for putting up IC notices/props. That's not to say that the two ideas have to be mutually exclusive - why not have both. Guild benefits as a reward for effort seems fair enough - but if people are going to put in effort it'd be nice for there to be a point to it in a way that improves the game - adding IC boards I think would do that (does not mean we have to take the boards in the corridor down) Giles, |

Cool boards on the way down are great and there are actual walls to put them on + the entrance tunnel is lit and won't get bashed in fights or desecrated IC. I would like an "In character" board in the tavern though. Put up your leaving notices, hires, wanted posters, campaign news etc etc. Many, many moons ago I put up a series of adventure write ups that people could read whilst waiting. I got to episode 57 of the Journal. It went up next to the Armoury so thast waiting monsters could read it. Tim. Ah, Stumbler's Journal ~ those were awesome! How about controversially guild boards are instead - on the online boards
They are a reward for creating some online resources which can then be pinned to the relevant area on the board: Such as - details of the guild and ethos A who's who of people involved Details of heraldry that people can have. Etc.. |
