Easily found and general information regarding Gantrick -

Gantrick

The town of Gantrick is in rural Sellaville close to a trade route through the Brandins. The House Morton's family manor lies at the centre of the town, and the head of the family, Harold Morton, though a tough man is well liked and respected by the town's people. The town has benefited greatly from passing trade in the past and hopes to revive business passing through the town in future.

After years of prosperity, the last 5 or so years has seen bandits plaguing the area and robbing travellers come to or leaving the town, the local mill burning down, crops failing and flooding of the river Gan. Despite reassurances from Harold Morton that these issues are being dealt with traders have started using other routes and the townsfolk are suffering as a result.

Easily found and general information regarding places and people of note in and around Gantrick -

Temple of Selina the Blessed Light

Though Gantrick has close ties to the Churches of Mortai and Shaehan, the only temple in the town is dedicated to Selina the Blessed Light. The worship of Selina is similar to the hero worship practiced by the Church of Dead Heroes for Selina the Blessed Light is a local legend.

When Gantrick was just a newly forming village, an undead horde poured down from the Brandins to attack the new settlers, lead by a Necromancer named Madigore . The settlers were attacked for 3 days and 3 nights by the undead, and it was during this time that a priestess named Selina first took up a blade in defence of Gantrick and its people. After successfully seeing off the last attack, Selina gathered together a brave band of warriors and lead them into the mountains in search of Madigore's base. Madigore sent Zombies and Skeletons to delay the groups advance and by the time the brave band arrived night had fallen. Assaulted by Madigore's hordes the groups numbers dwindled until only a handful remained. Madigore struck Selina twice from behind and mortally wounded she fell to the floor. The legend states that Angelic wings burst from Selina's back and light shone from her wounds, blinding Madigore and filling the undead with fear. Selina rose up and struck Madigore's head from his shoulders and the now leaderless undead soon fell to the blades of her surviving allies.

Upon Selina's death the light still shone and Madigore encampment seemed filled with the presence of goodness and light. A shrine was soon built in her name in the mountains and many of the people from Gantrick still make a yearly pilgrimage there on the date of her death to honour her sacrifice.

The Gantrick Mill and Bakery (Recently burnt down)

The Gantrick Mill is famous for its fine flour, amazing bread and bakery goods. It has been run and owned by the Winstone family for a number of decades and the current Miller is Richard Winstone or 'Stoney' as he is know in Gantrick. The troubles plaguing Gantrick recently also include the Mill burning down. Gantrick Mill was both a water and wind mill and was built just outside of the town on the banks of the river Gan.

Von Hoff's Potion Company

Owned by Dolph Von Hoff, a retired Fraegermann from the Baronies, the Von Hoff Potion Company has traded out of Gantrick for a number of years and Harold Morton is rumoured to be Von Hoff's business partner. Dolph Von Hoff is now in his late 60's and leaves the running of the business to his son, Sven.

The Coven of Gantrick

The Coven came together around the same time of as Gantrick was formed and records showed they played a part in the defence of Gantrick from Madigore's undead horde. The Coven has recently been very proactive in trying to discover the source of the troubles the town is suffering. 5 years ago, one of their number was slain fighting bandits and since that time the Coven has seen off or prevented a number of troubles that have plagued Gantrick including purifying a poisoned well, healing the wounded and curing illness, and more recently fighting off a force of undead. The Coven has a small Scrying Pool in an outpost in the Mountains but has so far been unable to discover the source of Gantrick's troubles.

The Coven is made up of Courtney Tarren (The Maiden), Taylor Carter (The Mother) and Ethan Marward (The Crone).

The Gantrick Militia

Led by Captain Leon Bandon, the Militia has recently been hard pressed to keep on top of the troubles in and around Gantrick, and its number has been recently increased by hired mercenaries paid for by Lord Morton. The Militia's headquarters is close to the Morton Family's Manor.
