Cheers Chris and Pete, so we looking all good on the crew front, now could just do with some more players. Guild members would be first preference but may be space for others.

Sorry folks - would love to join you but attending a funeral that day.

Needs to start with Benson and Ed - guys the propping was exceptional and the story and set pieces were fantastic, great event to play a scout / comms character on especially the various parts from the bell tent which really added something to a site I have played at a lot. The event was full of involved plot, comedy moments and pure brutality everything I love about this game.

The crew were fantastic over the event keen to beat us and roleplay with us in equal measure - a crew like the one we had really helps make a great event so thanks for all of your efforts guys.

Really good party mix - everyone chilled and in high spirits, nice to see a party full of doers cracking on with masses of dungeon regardless of stress or fatigue. smile.gif

I had a really great time - very sleepy today though...

Edit; how could I forget Fromum for keeping the army marching! Thanks as always!!

100% agree with all of this

Top event - thank you so much to Rob & Ed

Fantastic props, great story, horde of cool monsters, innovative encounter ideas - it was really obvious a ton of work went into this and it paid off to make a really fun event.

Cheers as well to Fromum for food and organisation!

FYI to everyone - there is no official IC brief for this, I'm assuming that those on the last adventure are returning to the Vale of Duskwood to finish what they started and are inviting friends and guildmates to join them.

Is anyone who is playing or crewing the Unity next Sunday going to be at the caves for the themeday on Saturday?

If so could I please ask you do me a favour and grab a bag of kit & some grulls for me?

Can email a kit list - I have all the specific props I need, this is mostly just getting weapons, bases & tabbards

Farewll to the truest of heroes.

More than any other, it was Darig's shining example and faith that led me to the Lady, for which I am eternally grateful to him.

I'm reffing the Unity guild special at Buckmore Park on Sunday 28th August.

If anyone is free to monster or a-ref they would be much appreciated.

Party max is 5250 and are keen to roleplay with everything.

I can promise you
1) Delicious BBQ food organised by Fromum
2) The return of the 'Go The F--k to Sleep!' demons. Possibly also assisted by the 'Eat Your Greens!' demons.

My friend Jerome has a dreadful personal and spiritual problem.

The silly sod is too noble to ask for help himself but if someone doesn't help him soon he's in big trouble.

Its a bit too embarassing to discuss in public but I can assure you all he only got into trouble because of the noblest intent.

Please met us at the southern entrance to the Vale of Duskwood tomorrow if you can - its not too far north of Bildteve

Please help, he really doesn't deserve what's happening to him

Alright maybe he does a bit, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't help

You did read the bit about having an a-ref and 5 monsters didn't you?

On transport -

1) I am assuming all players and monsters have lifts to the site confirmed - speak up here if not, we aren't expecting anyone going via the caves

2) Rich - can you post the postcode on this thread please ? (tried searching the forums and couldn't find it)

Can people please confirm who they are playing and what points they are* please - realised its been a while since the last dungeon and I could be wildly off in my estimate of what level I'm writing for.

PM** or email me with it if you want to be all secret squirrel about it.

I'm really pleased to see we have an a-ref and an amazing five booked monsters.

Does everyone have the address for Buckmore Park and/or a lift sorted?

A contraversial thought, but what if there were no rebirths?

You perm die as a character - well, time to start a new one then.

That's how it works in almost every tabletop rpg. Even in Paranoia you eventually run out of clones.

I am driving from Bexleyheath and can offer lifts from that direction if anyone needs them.

I am happy to organise the BBQ and bring along my travel one, we are allowed to take 1 car further in to the site (rather then leave it in the car park) and I am happy for people to leave all the BBQ/lunch stuff in the car. If players fancied chipping in £5 each I can buy a mix of stuff to bring along for us all, or happy to sort out a list and people pick bits off it to bring.

All chipping in is probably much easier to do!

The overland is actually fairly close now, being the weekend after next, so some items of preparation, some of which I need to ask the party's help on -

1) Is anyone that has a car going to be at the caves this weekend? If so could I mail you a kit list and ask you to pick the monster kit for me please? (I'll be aiming to keep it light given the weather)

2) Does everyone have transport sorted?

3) BBQ / Picnic-wise - is someone organising ? Shall we coordinate what people are bringing food wise here?

4) Start time - my hope is to get to the site for 10am and start at 10.30

5) Monsters - currently crew is myself and Rebecca - can people ask around and see if we can recruit a couple of monsters please?

So the church of Unity is having one of their summer picnics on Saturday 1st July.

Its a Buckmore park so while an overland the site is also nicely shaded by lots of trees.

Being the church of Unity they will
- feed you lots of lovely BBQ food for lunch
- bimble along incredibly slowly, leaving the crew a pretty relaxed day
- try to roleplay with everything

So far there's me as ref and Rebecca as a-ref - we just need a couple of monsters to complete the team.

Pretty sure lifts can be arranged from/back to the caves area if transport is an issue.

Please do come and join the fun!

I've been in these debates before and I know I'm always on the less popular side with my view here.

Pete commented about this penalizing quiet but effective characters with less showy role-play. That's not really the part I'm judging - the part I'm looking at is are they effective, are they involved, did they make the day more fun for the other players (and monsters) around them.

The character that does big impressive blows and is fun to fight against deserves more points than the one who does tedious minimum length blows.

The caster whose verbals sound cool and casts things that help the party complete the dungeon deserves more than the one who does nothing all day but mumble a defensive spell.

The scout that goes to look for things, disarms traps and/or translates the cryptic code deserves more than the one who just wanders around holding a pair of drawn daggers without ever hitting anything.

The healer who heals people so they stay alive deserves more than the one who ends the day with a pile of PC corpses and a full set of spirits left.

The character who spent half the dungeon making OOC comments gets less than the person who cared enough to talk to lots of NPCs and unravel the complex plot.

I give points based on how much you get involved.

Pete talks about things that rub salt into a wound. For me a shitty day might come from dying due to lack of backup (or the caster equivalent, dying because someone else horded their power so tightly) and then the salt in the wound is discovering the ref gave those very people who didn't help the same points, even though they might as well never have left the tavern. To me that is unfair.

So long as refs do have discretion over points awarded, I'll continue to work on the principle of 'do nothing, get no points' when reffing.

As a ref I like the ability to give variable points.

I want to be able to say 'you stood at the back and did f-all and let everyone else take the risks, you get less points than them'

Probably just as well I'm not there as Falorn (for oh so many reasons) - Julian has mentioned the Portsmouth 24 hours and I'm fairly sure that on the last one I was accidentally healing the monsters fighting the party smile.gif

I will always remember 'hang on, Mithaniel doesn't have horns'

I believe that was the same event where I got lost on the way back from the loo (see my ranger skills) and ended up fighting an end of section boss solo
