OK, thoughts on this one.
Temporary Excommunication As mercenary guild leader, may temporarily excommunicate an individual from the church of Elbereth (obviously, not being High Priest, can't do it permanently). May only cast this miracle on someone who has behaved in an inappropriate/sinful manner or, in both her and the deity's (i.e. ref's) opinion is about to do something inappropriate or stupid. If the target is blameless, the miracle fails. For the duration, the target is considered to not be a member of the church for any reason, and does not have access to the church miracle list. This lasts at most 10 minutes, and is a releasable miracle. If the target has bought the published "perm dies if excommunicated" ability, Bea may instead of killing them choose to loose 10% Res chance herself. |

I would've thought that it would ONLY be appropriate for the High Priest to be excommunicating people really - sort of a slippery slope of "I'm not the high priest but..." points requests otherwise.
Wouldn't it be easier to lure Murray on to a guild special and PK him? I'll give you a hand if you like. J -------------------- No of course I won't ref. Are you mad?

It doesn't seem unreasonable; maybe just adding an explicit statement that you can only use this ability if you are the guild head.

I've got a version of this as Bluebottle: Lasts for an hour, or until forgiven.
So it's possible to get things along these lines. I'd suggest rather than you loosing res chance, the person under interdict falls unconsious for the duration? _ Pete |

Mark should obviously fail it, or I will be forced to write points app for Brodderick so he can keep handing over res chance.

Can you write one for me too? Something along the lines of 'may continue to scold even while unconscious'.
Otherwise its going to be a case of: 'Hey, should we really be doing that to a bunch of children? It really isn't....hey....don't excommunicate me!' THUD. Matt |

Temporary excommunication........ Whatever happened to knocking the idiot out with a mace, Or Vopping him?
Why not have a miracle that renders a rulebreaker stunned/unconscious until (tied and gagged ready for a jolly good talking too) released by the priest. Btw i must let out a chortle for the idea of luring Mr murray on dungeon. ph |

I'd tend to feel that excommunication is a High priest thing...
I've tried for something simmilar as Harpell in the (dim and distant) past and had it knocked back... I'd also say it's very subjective based around what Bea feels the priest has done wrong and would need heavy ref interaction... but with all that siad I can very much see why you'd want it... I'd have done Thor loads of times by now if I had something similar patch (Woohoo see me post on the main site... hurrah... one Day I will play again I tell you... I do... I tell you I do!!) -------------------- Patch

I will pay for the two shandies it takes to get you drunk if you turn up to play a dungeon before Christmas 2009.

I'll hold you to that... Referencing the original idea to some of my multi-race type points apps (admitedly for Galdor), this could be quite hard / harsh against PC angels etc. who have "Blow up if excomunicated" as part of their restrictions. Phil. Ps. Patch, you did promise to do the Alguz day in April... -------------------- You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!
Characters Galdor - City Spirit of Alguz Florin - Crystalline Dwarven Seer Sola Vagus - Farfolk High Druid... with a bite. Baron Wyn Stoneheart - Blade Master Barak - Blue / Ivory Warlock plus 30+ years worth of other small yellow cards |
