The Final Dawn event is only a few weeks away now and this is traditionally the point that everyone books on, now they have their Christmas plans sorted, we are hoping it happens again this week. Chatting to some people recently though they weren’t aware what the final dawn is all about. The full details can be found on the laby wiki page here http://www.labywiki.co.uk/wiki/Final_Dawn but in summary:
At the end of each year Primus basically dies/everything ends - rituals, supernatural stuff etc. The spirit of Primus (like a samila for the whole of Primus) looks over the whole of Primus and what it sees is carried into next year - so if a city is destroyed then it ceases to be a city at the Final Dawn etc. So in supernatural terms - each year the world is born anew. The various bad guys out there, use this as an opportunity to strike and achieve their plans before the turning of the dawn, and each year mercenaries are on hand to hopefully prevent this.

Each year we run a multiparty, multi level event, the events themselves run on a 3 year cycle:
Lower level
High level, including a no max
Play 1 day monster 1 day with a higher and lower level day.

It is the last of these that we are on this year and is taking place on the 27th & 28th December the details of which I have copied and pasted from Duncan’s December post:
It will be a play one day and monster one day basis.
The first day is a Max 7500 being reffed by Ryan Kelly, “Henry Hope” and team.
Day two is a max 3k being reffed by Lee Dale and Kev Jones.

The cost of the day is £65, with a minimum of £15 cash. Credits are earned as normal for monstering a triple length.
No monster points are gained for monstering, but the total points reward for playing is out of 250 points.

The items have a special twist on them this year, so hopefully they will make for a fun twist.
There’s no hard rules about what you can play, but it is Christmas so deliberately playing your party killing AP is a bit off.

The caves will be open in the morning normal time, and usually finish up around 7pm. Depending on the final numbers June at the cafe has offered to come open up for a couple of hours for us, or we will look to provide some hot food at the caves for a small cost. Will update the details once we know the numbers for sure. Additionally. any remaining tombola’s for sale for those who are addicted. It is possible to come down and monster just for the day if you can only make one.

The day generally involves being based from 1 location and splitting off to do various sections though out the day with the options to pick and chose which section you do and coming up with the best people to do each section etc. Plus some big encounters where everyone is together, these always work well on the events where everyone the same level.

There is already some plot drops out there for the events, and briefs should hopefully be following shortly but for a few flavour posts from the world whispers:

The earth shakes, subsides and then shakes again and in a remote area part of the Empire's earth, that hasn’t moved for centuries, cracks and slides down a hillside.

As the dust and earth begins to settle a dull purple glow begins to emanate from the doorway which has now been uncovered.

The earth shakes a third time and the rock surrounding the doorway cracks; as it does the purple light from doorway begins to seep out of the doorway through the cracks.

Soon the light fades completely.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a room in a nondescript building in Halgar, 4 men sit, each slowly working through the pile of paperwork sitting on their desks.
At the back of the room a trap door opens and a clean shaven man pops his head through.
'Guys, quick question. What would you call a blue that's a bit off ocean blue but not as light as sky blue?'
'Azure' one of the other men absently says and carries on with his paper work.
After a moment he notices that the other three have stopped their work.
All four turn to the figure still half out of the trap door.
'Yeah I think we have a bit of a problem down here, the threat board is lightning up like a final dawn tree down here, and there's a big blue...'
'Azure' suggests one of the others
'Yeah maybe, lets just say there is a big blue blob on the heartlands that's still coming into focus.'
'Rubbish! Guess I'll have to tell the missus that Ishma over the dawn is cancelled, Roger - get the hiring licence, Saul get some grulls signed out, Bobby get hiring some mercenaries, Tabards on, lets roll'
'There goes dress down Friday' mutters Saul as he pulled his purple tabard with a silver arrow embossed on the front out from the bottom draw of his desk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The ice queen sits on her throne, watching her deamon’s fight amongst themselves when a small imp makes its way through the room and whispers in her ear.

A smile crosses her face and she whispers to the imp.

‘Awaken the Hunter deamons, we go to war’

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a deserted castle, a skeletal figure sits upon a chair looking at the tables of his great hall where the skeletal remains of his held lie slumped across the tables of the hall.
Suddenly his eyes glow red and he rises.
‘Awake my held, a power has awakened and is ripe for the taking!’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Meanwhile on an object orbiting primus.

A gythianki looks at another gythianki.

The second raises his eyebrow.

They both disappear.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And in "heaven" (or at least a heaven)
Joshua looked at his fellow angel, his halo was white, but was it white enough?
If only there was some easy way to destroy and find the forces of darkness.
‘All seeing all knowing spirits..’ he began to intone.
His fellow angel began to look at him with a slight sense of worry.
‘Question 1 most effective ways of committing a mass cleansing of any “tainted” individuals from primus’ intoned Joshua.
‘Question 2 7 more words..’
‘Question 3 7 more words..’
Joshua turned to his companion, ‘summon the host, we have work to do’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

‘Yes, yes, the vision is true, eat the blessed cheese and you too will understand.’

As a hooded rat figure walks through tunnels muttering to himself.

While the Final Dawn has enough players and monsters to run the refs are keen to get more people involved to enjoy the plot and dungeons they have been working on for a number of months. As such there are 5 player spots been made available on each day for anyone who is able to crew on Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th December rather then the other day of the Final Dawn.
You are able to book on to these yourself on the event diary but please also drop the bookings line an email to confirm that you are taking one of them.
There may be additional playing slots available for on just 1 of the days (especially the max 7500) if you are able to offer reffing/crewing services in January 2019 but please email the booking line to confirm.

The caves cafe will be closed for the Final Dawn and the weekend of 29th/30th. In order to provide some hot food for people we will be cooking up some Chicken and Chips behind the desk on all 4 days. Due to not having a catering licence we can't unfortunately sell it, however we are giving it away for free when you buy a special plastic fork for the barging price of just £4 wink.gif
