Does Mastercrafted Armour have to be made of steel? Would a polyurethane breastplate that looks like steel count as MC?

It has to be made of metal (aluminium chain is lighter than steel), so no. Lucy I have to disagree Lucy I had a £500+ suit of armour made for me by the guys that did the armour for Troy and no referee has ever had an issue with me battle boarding it as MCd - It may be lighter but it is also safer. My latex sword is vastly lighter than a real one as well Rob -------------------- |

In fairness I think your probably right on a technicality as the technology for making the kind of stuff Rob's talking about didn't exist when the entry was written for the handbook AFAIK. Nobody ever questioned me battleboarding mine as MC plate either. I think it would probably take more axe blows than most metal plate too. J -------------------- No of course I won't ref. Are you mad?

Robs armour looks like armour and he's made an effort for it i.e. spent £500 quid. a TimT suit of plates is metal and again looks like armour and has had effort made. (quite similar to some stuff used in Braveheart) You could use a 2ltr coke bottle cut the ends off and spray it silver and gaffer it to your legs thats fine for plate for me but it isn't master crafted. you could buy an old wolly jumper from a charity shop and spray that silver and you have normal chain. MC armour to me is either and expensive prop or as best as you can get to teh real thing. IMO -------------------- In AD&D 1st Edition the spell "Mount" should only ever be used as a seige weapon....

Shin pads with silver gaffa for the win - well it was a while ago (& a balaclava covered in gold and bronze latex paint) - looked awful - I agree with Neil. Giles. |

My view is that you can still wear AC3 without phys rep but everything else should look the part if not you get AC3, lets get rid of the idea of people stinging a disposable ally serving plate to their chest.
To me I don't care what its made of as long as it looks good. Jon |
