The Marsh Isle lay somewhere east by north east of Port Miere and not even the various sea deities that had staked a claim to most of the Xathrean in one way or another had bothered with this stinking land. It was a terrible, boggy, marshy, misty sort of a place. The sort of place that only the worst of the worst would choose to live.

If one had not been there then there would be no real indicator that the mountain at the centre of the isle was flat, its assumed peak hidden by clouds or mists. None would have any idea that there was a place slightly more habitable than the rest of the isle.

Furthermore if one realised that the clouds were less clouds and more mists, and the mists were less mists and more steam from what was less a peaked mountain and more a flat topped dormant volcano one might consider the isle as being even less a safe haven but therein lay it’s charm, at least for the Marsh Tribe, who after generations were inured to the poisons and dangers of the marsh life that surrounded their elevated home.

The Tribe had escaped to the Marsh Isle generations ago, fleeing persecutors who had long ago decided the Isle was of no use to them and that the mix of Orcs and Goblins could have it. As time passed the Orcs had strangely diminished in number whilst the goblins flourished but, as is the way of the tribes, the goblins became thralls of the Orcs who carefully culled any Goblins who showed any sign of leadership, connection to the spirit planes or magical aptitude to ensure their thralls kept in line and eventually the Totems mercifully gave up gifting such powers to any of the Marsh Goblins knowing such would merely serve as their death warrant.

But a threat had come to the Isle from worlds beyond and the Orcs had sought the aid of The Totemic Guardians. So it was that a contingent of the Guardians had answered that call, warned by the Totems that they arrived prior to an invasion force. Having defended the village of M’lek from various summonations and fire demons they had descended into the mountain itself to deal a blow to some threat within.

It seems that they were successful although not without cost with whispers of the deaths of Abbad, Coconut and Boil Baiter on that day at the hands of various foes, including men skilled in the magics of air

Later that day Baiter and Shar returned and left with a group of Marsh Goblins who had been introduced to the idea of “freedom” and decided it might be a bit better than their current life. Shar wasn’t sure but thought that the mountain felt a little different; it still resonated with the Power of the Drakkon Tempestuous but there was definitely more of a presence of another Dragon that kept its identity hidden, and was the mist around M’lek just a little bit thicker?

Ah never mind, more goblins for the Spida Tribe and more reputation for the Totemic Guardians, Muttley would be pleased! And he had even saved a Troll from certain death, Owl would appreciate that. All in all a good days work. There was probably something worth checking about why the worthless Isle had been attacked but meh, he had a Moot to get to and needed to get there before Pork Pye got to the food…
