It started in the South (or North, depending on your perspective I suppose).
A few minutes before half past the 18th hour, Starsday. A wave of darkest, deepest power flowing across the whole of Primus. The skies across the world turned black. Of course, it was night already, but the stars vanished for a time, and were replaced by darker crackles of lightning that seared the air. A single almighty peal of thunder echoed across the lands; from the deserts of Ishma where the winds of magic shuddered to halt for a few brief moments in shock, to the farthest reaches of the north where ancient glaciers tumbled to the ground. From the halls of Coris Mount where ritualists fought and failed to hold back the sundering of Primal barriers across the lands, to the plains of Amlas where whole fields of rice instantly withered and rotted and the Emperor's palace itself trembled. And throughout the Empire, scholars running to investigate in panic, resources marshalled to the inevitability of Mercenary hires and threat maps being studied in detail. People woke from their sleep screaming. Others threw themselves to the ground in despair. Few escaped the visions of the eyes, the teeth, the hate. And at the same time another power touched on the minds and hearts of the world. Not one of hope for sure, or light, or salvation. But a power in many ways as dark as the other, though perhaps less malicious, more insidious, more intelligent, less destructive. This "other" seemed to feed on the main thrust, diverting and overcoming much of what could otherwise been far worse. The darkness passed, but it left significant damage in its wake. Primus has been weakened in a way that it had not felt since the time of the Magiocracies and the wars that sprung from their recklessness. Significant shifts of power, cards laid on tables, allegiances reforged and betrayal rife. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
